Coach Dania with our little Tutu Boxer
    Nabiha M.

First gym I've joined where I feel comfortable enough to show up everyday and stay motivated. It's been an amazing experience for our family these past couple of weeks and the coaches are INCREDIBLE. My oldest is doing youth BJJ with the talented duo Coach Dania & Alex, while my middle has been doing PT with Coach Dania. Coach Dania was able to take this timid, shy girl full of anxiety and create a relationship with her. She not only loves her coach but is now transitioning to the youth fight fit with Coach Paul. All of these classes go on while our youngest 2 year old enjoys his time in kid's club with the sweetest Miss Hannah. I seriously have zero excuse as a mother to not go to the gym. I feel welcomed, supported and there's no judgment if you have zero idea of how to do an exercise. The coaches are kind and motivating. I haven't worked out in at least 2 years but every class I've tried so far is accommodating to people from all levels. It's been a great experience so far and I can't wait to see the results it brings.

This is a fantastic gym, new and modern with a great atmosphere! I was deciding between a competitor gym, I Love Something or other, and researched prices only to determine that this gym is 1/2 the cost of the other tiny place that had limited hours! I just don't understand how this membership can be so inexpensive for the amount of classes and childcare they offer me. The childcare definitely motivates me to come in even on school holidays to squeeze in a class! I've met the kindest instructors that remember me whether the classes have 6 people or 16! They of course have kickboxing and boxing but also Zumba, Yoga, Cycle, TRX and other unique offerings no other non specialty gyms have like Muay Thai and Jujitsu. I took a personal women's security class last month with Dania and the moves I learned are definitely worthwhile to know as a woman living in an urban (or suburban) jungle. If you are looking for a family membership like I have, there are plenty of youth classes to choose from during the week. Both my young daughters love their instructors, Paul and Sebastian, and the open space to train. No bully's will be bothering them that's for sure. They have a recovery room with some free stuff for members and cryotherapy for a monthly charge. I was so surprised that it was less than 1/2 the cost of another place where I used to get my cryo done nearby in Hinsdale. It feels amazing and keeps me coming back to train harder without as much downtime because of soreness. Since it's located in the mall when the mall is open I can use the upstairs entrance to walk straight into the mall to get errands done, that's so great especially in the Winter in Chiberia! It's also open 24 HOURS. Not to say that I plan on working out at midnight much (or at all) but hey if the mood and motivation ever strikes me at least I can, that's really empowering! For all these reasons I recently cancelled my competing gym memberships elsewhere and my kids after school Tae Kwondo classes. We now have more classes offered to us there than I ever had at all those other places combined. I am even saving money now without all those other memberships. Thanks UFC Yorktown for finally coming into my life at the time when I needed it most. See you again soon!

At the end of one of our sessions!

I have been working out at this gym since April 2019 and by far has been one of the greatest gym experiences. The staff is amazing! Equipment is always clean! They have an amazing protein bar and they offer numerous workout classes!! I personally chose to do personal training with the AMAZING Dania and to say that she makes you sweat in the workouts is an understatement!!! #TeamRed

I signed up my son for a membership. He goes to theIr youth boxing classes. Very friendly and answer my text messages all the time!

It's personal training in a small group setting. The workout changes every day so over the course of a week, even if you don't go every day, you work your entire body. Some days are strength training, some are cardio, some are both! I typically burn 300-400 calories - and the workouts are only 45 minutes long - including warm up and cool down. You can't get more efficient than that. The trainer, Grant, will help you modify any exercise to your fitness level. The equipment is state of the art and very clean. They offer FREE CHILDCARE, which is a massive benefit. My kids beg to come with me to Burn because the play room is so much fun, full of (very clean!) toys, arts & crafts and very warm and loving childcare workers. I've been bringing my youngest since she was a baby and I've always felt comfortable with the care provided. A bonus is that you can peek in on the kids through a window throughout your workout, which is great for peace of mind. I had no expectations when I joined Burn 2 years ago. To say it's changed my life is an understatement. I've dropped pounds, inches, and lowered my percentage of body fat. I have more energy than ever, a better attitude and I've made some pretty fantastic friends along the way.

I tried the free trials at 3 other local gyms that were comparable to Burn. In the end I chose Burn for the the childcare aspect, the community and the classes. Child care is huge for me because of my smaller Children. The community is great. The culture is uplifting and welcoming. The owner Robyn goes out of her way to make everyone that walks through the door feels welcomed and informed. Grant and Diane follow suit. They train and encourage all members. There are other trainers but I have not worked with them. But from what I know of the culture I'm sure they have that same welcoming and encouraging strength. The classes have different levels of difficulty and can be modified for any type of comfort level. Amy and Jackie are usually at the front desk checking people in and welcoming everyone. They have taken the time to know my kids names and also welcome them when they walk through the door. Truly this place is such a great place for everyone. There is also a sit down consultation to find where you can improve on your eating and see results of the progress you're making. I do not take as much advantage of this but I probably should. I'm not ready to give up my food but I can say I feel stronger and there has been a change to my body. I will recommend Burn to everyone I know. If you're on the fence I say jump. You will not regret it.

I had resigned myself to staying on track for fitness and nutrition goals when I was at home then falling off during my work travel weeks. I ran across The Rough House and decided to try in hotel / at home personal training for a trip and that's how I experienced what The Rough House trainers can do. The trainer, Colin, took assessment information prior to my trip then customized and optimized the time we had. Not only did I not miss a beat for fitness and nutrition habits during that trip, but I also was sharper and more energized then slept better during my visit. What I appreciated was the attention to detail and how well tailored the workouts were to the needs and goals I mentioned, then also, to things I didn't know to ask for. It's time that I "weigh in"... with my opinion of the Bulldog Boot camp - Forest Park, IL…read more I brought a group-on for forty dollars with the intent of empathizing with my daughter who had recently completed "real" boot camp. I had twelve sessions, (three times a week for four weeks). This, of course, was just a tasting of what my daughter had to go through. I'm an early riser so I went for 5:30 in the morning - which is great that health facilities are "waking-up" to those of us who like to get a work-out before work! Although, I was on vacation, (I'm a teacher). I also think that it's important to note that I'm over 50 and I have a chronic health condition - that affects my lungs, joints, and soft tissue. I was also on chemo and steroids for eight years, as this all factors into this review. When I called to register for the sessions I explained that I checked the reviews on yelp and checked out the videos and I didn't see any one like me, but I was assured that I was not alone - and I was not. There were others who had weight issues, but no over 50 woman, some close, but not so much but... ....Let me emphasize - EVERYONE WAS VERY KIND! EVEN THE OTHER "campers". My initial visit was a shock after not really having a routine program for about the entire school year. I could do NOTHING!!! BUT! EVERYONE WAS VERY KIND. So, I returned! :-) Three days for four weeks - just to hear my last name barked out... Such sweet music to mine ears. It reminded me of my high school ROTC days - I often saluted with my left hand. I was easily flustered then as well, when barked at:-) Still, the exercise routine, although very rigorous, was great to get me up and moving. I can do squats, which translates into normal life in that, I can go up and down the stairs relatively without pain and without taking one stair at a time, (this was my life as recent as two months ago). I can do push-ups, sit-ups that are like crunches, and I have more energy - I can stay awake pass 10. Wow! I used to fall asleep around 8:00 - 8:30. My daughters numbers one and two, (number three is in the army - I also have sons one, two and three - YES! That means I have six children); noticed that I have some muscle tone/definition in my arms. I lift ten pound weights everyday now. There is much more that I can do that I could not do, thanks to those twelve sessions of boot camp. Sadly, I had to stop because as a teacher there is a real threat of striking, (no, I'm not with CPS, but another district), and I could not justify paying money that could be needed later for things like food, the mortgage, utilities, gas... The boot camp rate is fair, although, I did ask about a discount, (there are discounts for public servants, police and fireman, veterans and students - not teachers). I've continued pretty much the same routine that was presented to me and it does produce results. Something that the boot camp did that I don't, is time myself. I never cared if I came in first, (which I never did) or last - which was always me. I guess I'm not very competitive. At my stage of the game I care about moving forward, (I was NEVER one for not moving - I am always busy, but busy and exercise are not synonymous - you may quote me :-) The owner always said that we were better than the guy that never gets up and does anything - that we were off of the sofa, (I rarely sit on my sofa and I don't watch t.v.). Overall, this is a great social sports fitness program for the young to middle aged adults who like competition and direction, (like from a drill sergeant - Gio, I know you're a softy and Wendy - you are prefect at encouragement and enthusiasm). Hopefully, I'll be back during a break from school, (even if we don't strike I leave for school at 5 in the morning to get to school for 6 to set up for the dears that come at 7 and then I don't leave until about 5 in the evening - I think this alone makes me a public servant :-). Carry on troops!

I am updating my review now that my first twelve weeks are complete…read more I have enrolled again in the Mon, Wed, Thurs 6:30pm Lincoln Park class. As a routine gym-visitor, this program initially tested my outdoor running abilities during the first six weeks. After twelve weeks, even with the colder weather, I have signed up to do it again. Activities vary each workout (they almost never repeat exactly) ... the workouts involve a good deal of interval running - some hills, some sprints, some beach workouts next to Lake Michigan, some longer distances (not more than about a mile at a time). Strength training is on the ground, rain or shine: push-ups, sit-ups, lunges, core, etc... with advanced versions of each. This program is highly recommended. I like the motivation of a scheduled time and group of people working together. I should add - it is no surprise that there are both low and high ratings for this bootcamp - it isn't for everyone. If you're looking for a solid workout three times a week and don't mind dressing appropriately, this is a great way to get into shape and lose pounds. They also offer a free trial week so that you can see what you're getting into. - Jason

There seems to be a nice variety of classes offered and I can imagine they are all quite challenging and offer a great total body workout. I tried the Metabolic Circuit class and it definitely kicked my butt. The class focused on a combination of several exercises, each done for 30-seconds with a 20-second recovery in between where you move on to the next exercise in the rotation. Some of the exercises included in the class I took were skull crushers, burpees & pull-ups, weighted squat, bus drivers, TRX push-up to plank, kettlebell snatches, and a shuffle with ball slam. All of which were killer and worked out my entire body. The class began with a short warm-up, followed by 3 complete rounds of each exercise in the circuit. We finished out the class with a 5-minute challenge which included kettlebell swings, air squats, push-ups, bent over rows and sit-ups. AMRAP within 5 minutes. And of course some post-class stretching. Bill is the main trainer. He is very friendly and has great energy. Bill added some humor here & there throughout the class here to keep everyone smiling. He consistently checked in on me during the workout to make sure I was using proper technique for each exercise and helped make adjustments to my form as needed. There were two other trainers on-site as well during the workout encouraging participants and helping with form adjustments to keep everyone safe. Side note: they also offer post-workout nutrition (bars and fresh smoothies), and massage as well. **Didn't snap any pictures as I was pressed for time, and also too busy getting my butt kicked. Bill, the owner and one of the trainers, will push you through 3 rounds and then a finisher, which is sure to wear you out. (Battle rope for 3 minutes, anyone?) The boxing classes are SO GOOD. I should note that these classes are boxing fitness classes - this is not a boxing class were you'll end up fighting someone. Most work is done on punching bags, but there's also plenty of other exercises mixed in. Boxing has been my favorite class so far because it's something I had never tried. Discovering it has been a fun experience that doesn't end up feeling like dragging myself to a gym for a class. I can't say too much about the yoga classes because I've only been to one, but it was alright. I'm much more interested in the circuit and boxing classes. The thing that really makes this gym special is the people. Since it's class based, you see the same people almost every time you go. They are a welcoming group and very encouraging. I was blown away that the group cheered me on as I finished my finisher in my first circuit class. Bill has made an awesome gym and an even better atmosphere and community to be a part of.

I hate the inevitable grunting, I hate that I'm not in better shape, I hate getting all sweaty, and I kinda hate how fricken happy Janet sounds cheering us to get lower while planking or to lift our legs higher during tabata drills. As much as I complain, I keep going. I must love it deep down. I truly do. I love Janet as a coach because she's kind and will push you, but she won't push you harder than she knows you can handle. She's experienced enough to be able to show you how to modify movements or do different exercises if something, like an injury, prevents you from being able to do it properly. I also love that I can feel the workout immediately and the following days, and my weight didn't drop for a while but my clothes were fitting better and I felt stronger. Janet Jackson can help you achieve your goals and live a healthier life without making you feel like you're being badgered by a drill sergeant. The size of the Monday night class is not big mind you, but the workout you'll receive is huge. I've been seeing Janet for over three months now. I was introduced to Janet and TRX at Patriot Boxing. Patriot and Janet have since broken up and like with most break ups...my loyalty stayed with the ladies...of Its Fitness that is! The workouts are just as challenging as they were before if not more so - which I never thought would be possible. We start our swearing...err work out outside. We warm up, we lunge, we jog, we sprint and we plank. We've also skipped and played tag. Sounds fun right? Well, it's not. It makes me want to skip all over someone's face! I might have some anger issues... After our school yard shenanigans, we head inside the confines of Olympia Chiropractic Center where all the TRX gear is set up. We grab our straps, crank up some tunes and pray for sweet death. We squat, we lunge, we plank. We do pushups, jump squats and mountain climbers. We work our biceps, our triceps, our shoulders and other muscles I never knew existed until I took this class. We cool down and then thank the heavens that we made it through another class. Now, I know I have a flair for the dramatic but this review is not a total over exaggeration. This class is intense and it WILL kick your booty. It sounds intimidating but you know what is not intimidating? Janet Jackson (Miss Jackson if ya nasty...that will never get old). She is a sweetheart but don't let that fool you. She knows how to push you to your limit. And the participants in the class are REAL people. We sweat (a lot), we bitch and we moan...together.
