Service is always great ... this is the best burger joint around ... love the selection of beer and the food is amazing... I had the Ron Swanson burger today and it rocked .. I literally ate the entire thing

Incredible burgers, fries & place to prop up and watch a game. It's definitely a bar & burger joint. Service is good, laid back and casual place. They keep it simple. No lettuce and no tomato. They also do not serve ranch dressing. This disappointed me on our first visit but once the food came out m, it took one bite for my disappointment to fade. These burgers are amazing and supposedly made with waygu beef. They really are excellent smash burgers. The best in Memphis!

The bartenders were very helpful and friendly, and the service was quick. We had gone to watch the Tiger's game. They had two TVs, one behind the bar and one in the main dining room. Both burgers were great! My partner and I decided on two we wanted to try and split them. I liked the Greg Brady more, while he preferred the Cobra Kai. The aioli they brought out for the sweet potato fries was excellent. My only complaint would be that I wish they would add some salads or something to the menu, the only options are burgers and fries. I know it is a chain though.

10 outta 10‼‼ Get here and eat a cheeseburger and fries STAT! Wagyu patties served on buns that seem like they were just baked the same day. JB sauce is the icing on the cake sts. I had a cheeseburger with bacon, raw onions and pickles. Crinkle fries are fried in peanut oil which I LOVE. OUTSTANDING quality and service.

I did it again! Food looked and smelled so good, I got sidetracked and forgot the pics of everything except the Dr. Gondo and cheese fries! Dog friendly, super spunky beer and burger joint. Great in the spring time - they have the garage door open and picnic tables outside. Spouse also got the Tom Brady, I got the grilled cheese with onions, and we got cheese fries to share. Everything was delicious and service was two thumbs up!

    Shocker

Food is amazing. Service was ok. Place was a little loud, but understandable because it's on a busy road.

We stopped in on an errand filled Monday for a quick bite. Jack Brown's is very unique in just the overall atmosphere. We got to sit at a picnic table inside and enjoyed a bar scene on a Monday afternoon. We had great service and burgers were ate, just no just pictures beyond the fries. My friend said that she doesn't normally go for a burger but this one was delicious! We will definitely stop in again

This was our first time here and we will be back! I usually don't like to order burgers out because the buns are too bready or fancy but luckily the buns here are just soft, steamy and just right. I do suggest ordering double patties because the burgers were small. We sat outside and enjoyed some people watching and music. Our servers were nice and the food came out at an appropriate pace. Everything tasted great!

Based on the yelp reviews we decided to try this place since we were wanting the best hamburger in Memphis. Jack Brown was one of the places that popped up. Located on central avenue right down from central bbq in a small area with parking on the side and back of the building. They have a long bar area which I lived as it provides lots of seating. Also seating included small table chair areas and various size bar tables all with bar stool seats. Nice for groups. The wait staff snd service was excellent. Friendly and attentive and being our first time here our waiter explained everything to us. Check out the decor on the walls, ceilings, in the bathroom and around the bar area. They had a Christmas tree up and pictures and stats of the 400 Notch Club which we found interesting-ask your server. Bathrooms were clean and well stocked. I usually don't like music overhead but I love the 80's music and it wasn't loud. The temperature was great and the atmosphere was fun, casual and friendly. The food was hot and the burgers were just as good as the reviews stated. The hamburgers were oh so good. I had the cheese burger and he had the Chiflet burger with bacon, sunny-side up egg and cheese which he said was good. We had tots they were out of French fries but did have sweet potato fries. The burger was a little peppery but still good. I can't say enough amazing things about the wait staff we were approached by several staff members who checked on us, refilled our drinks and brought our food. The vibe is wonderful and the clientele was a great mixture of old , young, black, white, and other ethnic groups. We had to pass up the fried Oreo for dessert.

Yall, I took my butt back up there within a week ‍ This time I had the Monday special "Molly Dooker". Amazing!

Great tasting burgers in an energetic environment, our server took the time to explain the menu and made us feel at ease. I tried the Kai burger and it was tasty!

Ok, John Smith Beer & Burger, you have won me over! I dig your beers, and also like your extremely proud of themselves, tasty burgers! Music line up being played is great! I catch myself singing at some point during each visit. I love the disco bra hanging from the ceiling! It reminds me of boobies and those are great too! They did a really good job making it look like an old dive bar from the get go and it will just get better with time. Great bar design!!! Kudos to whoever came up with Steve Jones Beer and Burger Bar! This shit is brilliant! You drink $600-$800 worth of beer and you get a tshirt! Brilliant!!! I say!! Our relationship started out on the wrong foot, quite literally. I was fresh out of the hospital, completely stuck in a wheelchair, and looking for somewhere new to eat. They were unable to accommodate and we left. That sucked and was quite embarrassing. Especially after they chased me outside and told me they would move other people so I could sit. Cringe Since then I have been back three times and eaten each time. I do love a tasty burger! First real time I got the Farrah Fawcett Burger. It was really good and the flavors were great. Whipped Brie is not a normal burger topping! Add the bacon and hot honey. Dang. Second time was the Gary Busey Burger, which is a really strange burger with Mac & Cheese, BBQ chips, and American Cheese. It was weird, would not get it again, but was stil pretty good. Third visit today was the again with the Sabrina Duncan burger. This time I had a completely different burger than the first Farrah Fawcett Burger, it was almost as if they could be called two different names. Strange. Check my pics and you will see the difference. These chicks don't even look the same!! I'll be back, I dig the skinny crinkle cut fries and the servers are really sweet. The burgers are interestingly good too. I think I'll get the "Stifler" next time. It has applewood bacon, fried egg, and American cheese. I love eggs on a burger! *names vary by location. Says it right there on the menu. '24 - 66/101

Cobra Kai burger with fries smother in Jack Brown sauce.

I was given the suggestion to try Jack Brown's by a friend. Off the top, Food was excellent and service great from walk-in to leaving. I'm a burger aficionado--I love a great burger--so I called up a friend and made a trip to check it out. I was excited to try their 100% American Wagyu beef burger. So, let's goo! I ordered the Cobra Kai (topped with cream cheese, pickled jalapeños, and jalapeño jelly--and just to be extra, I added bacon). It came on a basic soft bun--not a fancy brioche or sourdough, just a simple, bunny-bread, Kroger-brand-style soft bun (I don't know the brand, but it's exactly what I like). Let me tell you, this was like a jalapeño popper burger in the best way possible. The meat was seasoned well and cooked just how I like it. The cream cheese acted as the perfect binder for the jalapeño jelly, and the jelly itself had just the right sweetness to balance the heat. I love sweet/spicy, not spicy/spicier, and this burger nailed that combo. The fries were basic, old-school crinkle-cut, crispy, and delicious--exactly what you want when you're craving a classic burger-and-fries meal. Just note that sides are à la carte, so you'll need to order them separately. Now, for the atmosphere--it's a dive bar, through and through. Old 90's rock was pumping through the speakers. The decor leans towards tacky (women's underwear hanging from a disco ball, questionable inflatable reindeer on the wall) with a vibe that's more rowdy than relaxed. The bathroom is super graffitied up (you can guess). It's definitely not the most family-friendly place, given the promiscuous undertones in some of the decor and verbiage on the bathroom walls. If you're looking for a chill, all-ages burger spot, this isn't it. But if you're down for a great burger and don't mind the divey feel, Jack Brown's is worth a visit. Would I go back? For the burger? Absolutely. I want to try the others. For the ambiance? Probably not. Take my kids, nah...probably not but carry out is an option. Oh, they have Jack Brown sauce---I'm a garlic aioli fan-if you are don't skip or skimp on this sauce. Delicious on the burger and the fry's!

It actually pisses me off sometimes. I do understand the need to get people through the place quickly, but you can do so without being as curt and laconic. We will return, without a doubt. I do love beer. My only suggestion would be a corral of puppies to pet while you get wasted. That would be pretty rad, maybe like a puppy rental system could work. '24 - 3/100

There's also a great horseshoe of seating centered around the wood-fire pizza oven if you want to watch the kitchen in action. The Flight Coming from the DC area, an 8-count flight for $16 feels like a steal. I went in thinking it was a 6-count, but I'm not complaining about the extra mileage. Here was the breakdown: - Famous Flaming Stone: Interesting technique using hot stones from the oven. Smooth and easy-drinking, but don't expect a "crisp" finish. - Isle of Skye Scottish Ale: Malty and dark. The vanilla hints in the aroma and the finish are exactly where they should be. - The Garrison (ESB): Not bitter at all and easy to drink, but lacks the "wow factor" to make it a standout. - Midtown Brown: This is a classic English nut brown ale. If you like dark beers, this delivers exactly what it is. Citra Brown: This was a DNF for me. I'm firmly Team Midtown Brown on this one. - Wee Heavy: A "bodied up" version of the Scottish Ale. This would be my preference over the Isle of Skye for the extra weight. - Boscos Noir IPA: As a fan of black IPAs, I enjoyed this. Not the best I've ever had, but definitely good. - Bombay IPA: A fantastic capstone. Even after a heavy flight, this was a solid, high-quality finish. The Food I ordered the Spicy Italian Pizza. The wood-fire crust is the winner here--it delivers a light char without being crunchy or burnt. It's structurally sound (no "flop and drop" with the toppings) and has a nice outer crispness while maintaining a soft bite. There is something unique about the dough that I couldn't quite put my finger on, but it was a pleasant surprise. Expect a bit of grease from the sausage and pepperoni, though it's more visual than a flavor issue. The hot peppers were arranged well and not overdone. The mushrooms did get a bit lost among the more overpowering ingredients, but overall, it's a solid "no regrets" bar pizza. The Service - Friendly and efficient across the board. Extra kudos to the food delivery guy--great energy. This isn't necessarily the pizza you'll run to tell all your friends about, but with the high-value flights and the great atmosphere, it's a dependable, high-quality local spot in the Square.
