The burgers are medium-sized, but they also offer a double burger option. I usually choose the regular cheeseburger, but this time I tried the "Chiflet," made with Snake River Farms Wagyu beef and topped with applewood smoked bacon, egg, and American cheese on a potato bun. Absolutely delicious! They also feature a daily burger special, which keeps the menu interesting. The crinkle fries are consistently hot and pair perfectly with the burgers. I have been wanting to try this burger place out for a long time. Finally got the chance Thursday for lunch. My friend and I ventured to Midtown Memphis to get burgers and fries. I had the Dr. Gonzo burger which had a burger patty, Swiss cheese, grilled onions, and bacon. Great choice of yummy ingredients to make a solid burger. The burger is kind of small but I was full after inhaling the fried and perfectly seasoned crinkle cut fries. The fry sauce was a total Hit! Service was good. Our server Becky was very friendly and helpful. The place has tables and chairs and high top tables too. The bar is dark but they do have some picnic tables near the entrance for more light. This place 100% shocked me (in a very good way). My girlfriend and I originally planned to go to a restaurant nearby but they unexpectedly were closed. So we saw this burger joint and thought hey let's give it a try! From the unique bacon topping & pickle on the bloody Mary to the range of burger options, this is not your typical average burger spot. Wish I was in Memphis longer so I could go again! Incredible burgers, fries & place to prop up and watch a game. It's definitely a bar & burger joint. Service is good, laid back and casual place. They keep it simple. No lettuce and no tomato. They also do not serve ranch dressing. This disappointed me on our first visit but once the food came out m, it took one bite for my disappointment to fade. This place was a true live saver for us! My friend and I were traveling cross country via car with a dog. We rolled into town late. Not only did Jack Brown's have a patio we could sit at with our dog, they took our order outside and checked on us regularly to make sure we were taken care of. The food was delicious! The perfect treat after a long drive. I got the "Greg Brady" which was a cheese burger with macaroni and cheese and potato chips on it. Truly devine! Their beer and cider selection was also fantastic. Our server was fabulous, he took great care of us and made us feel like the most important customers in the world, lol! The fellow patrons were also friendly and welcoming. And even outside the, the vibes were comfy and safe. If I'm ever in Memphis again, I will surely stop here. The bartenders were very helpful and friendly, and the service was quick. We had gone to watch the Tiger's game. They had two TVs, one behind the bar and one in the main dining room. Both burgers were great! My partner and I decided on two we wanted to try and split them. I liked the Greg Brady more, while he preferred the Cobra Kai. The aioli they brought out for the sweet potato fries was excellent. First off, Jack Brown is a chain restaurant specialising in consistent smash burgers and expansive beer selection. All of the Waygu grade hamburger meat is sourced from American farms and the burgers come as double patties portions. I want to emphasise consistent because they have no exceptions to items on their menu! You cannot order yours with mustard or mayonnaise or whatever - menu items are as is. Fries are extra and come in a big basket with or without the bacon and cheese sauce topping. The beer selection is what this place is all about boasting over 100 can selections and they offer about 8 local beers on tap. Their selection is amazing with a few of everything - pilsners, IPA's, sours, porters, stouts, wheats, Belgian's, gose, you get the idea, all at about $8-$12 per can. The ambiance is kitschy dive- bar wannabe. Very clean inside but graffiti and garage-sale art all over the walls in the dark themed establishment. Our servers were very kind and took the time to explain the menu and directed us to their website to view the beer selection. Everything is made in plain sight as you can see the cooks prepare each mouth-watering order. Parking is a little tight and also in the back of the restaurant with no rear access so you have to walk around front to get in which can be challenging in cold and misty weather conditions. They could use a guard?? ... for their dark and secluded parking-to-the-door trip. Taking a date? ; 2 burgers, fries and a couple beers will run you about $80 + tip and taxes so be prepared for that. JB's loves to have weekday pub events like trivia contests and the like. They have a knotch club too, those who have had 100+ beers there; that can be a real investment but doable if you go there weekly. So in about a year you'll be a real insider' like many already are. Based on the yelp reviews we decided to try this place since we were wanting the best hamburger in Memphis. Jack Brown was one of the places that popped up. Located on central avenue right down from central bbq in a small area with parking on the side and back of the building. They have a long bar area which I lived as it provides lots of seating. Also seating included small table chair areas and various size bar tables all with bar stool seats. Nice for groups. The wait staff snd service was excellent. Friendly and attentive and being our first time here our waiter explained everything to us. Check out the decor on the walls, ceilings, in the bathroom and around the bar area. They had a Christmas tree up and pictures and stats of the 400 Notch Club which we found interesting-ask your server. Bathrooms were clean and well stocked. I usually don't like music overhead but I love the 80's music and it wasn't loud. The temperature was great and the atmosphere was fun, casual and friendly. The food was hot and the burgers were just as good as the reviews stated. The hamburgers were oh so good. I had the cheese burger and he had the Chiflet burger with bacon, sunny-side up egg and cheese which he said was good. We had tots they were out of French fries but did have sweet potato fries. The burger was a little peppery but still good. This time I had a completely different burger than the first Farrah Fawcett Burger, it was almost as if they could be called two different names. Strange. I'm a burger aficionado--I love a great burger--so I called up a friend and made a trip to check it out. I was excited to try their 100% American Wagyu beef burger. So, let's goo! I ordered the Cobra Kai (topped with cream cheese, pickled jalapeños, and jalapeño jelly--and just to be extra, I added bacon). It came on a basic soft bun--not a fancy brioche or sourdough, just a simple, bunny-bread, Kroger-brand-style soft bun (I don't know the brand, but it's exactly what I like). Let me tell you, this was like a jalapeño popper burger in the best way possible. The meat was seasoned well and cooked just how I like it. The cream cheese acted as the perfect binder for the jalapeño jelly, and the jelly itself had just the right sweetness to balance the heat. I love sweet/spicy, not spicy/spicier, and this burger nailed that combo. The fries were basic, old-school crinkle-cut, crispy, and delicious--exactly what you want when you're craving a classic burger-and-fries meal. Just note that sides are à la carte, so you'll need to order them separately. Now, for the atmosphere--it's a dive bar, through and through. Old 90's rock was pumping through the speakers. The decor leans towards tacky (women's underwear hanging from a disco ball, questionable inflatable reindeer on the wall) with a vibe that's more rowdy than relaxed. The bathroom is super graffitied up (you can guess). It's definitely not the most family-friendly place, given the promiscuous undertones in some of the decor and verbiage on the bathroom walls. If you're looking for a chill, all-ages burger spot, this isn't it. But if you're down for a great burger and don't mind the divey feel, Jack Brown's is worth a visit. Would I go back? For the burger? Absolutely. I want to try the others. For the ambiance? Probably not. Take my kids, nah...probably not but carry out is an option. I had been wanting to visit this spot for quite some time! I really like chill places that serve a variety of beers and drinks. Hubby and I dropped in and we enjoyed our dinner! Great burger & fries from a hipster bar rocking 90's alternative jams! SHOCKER Burger: Reasonably thick patty with two slices of pepper jack & fresh jalapeños. The heat was definitely on with this thing. It's not blow your doors off, but not for the meek or mild. I'd recommend an extra patty. Also, get the Shocker sauce on the side to moderate your bites & manage the mess. FRIES: I chose regular crinkle cuts. They had a good crisp & were piping hot. The Sweet Potato fries were also a popular choice among my group. SERVICE: Eight of us went for dinner on a Friday at about 8PM. There was plenty of space to accommodate. The shorter blonde gal took our order very quickly & pointed us towards the self-serve water buckets. She was speedy & thorough, but was on her way out before we could thank her.
