    Sweet potato fries basket
    Jae F.

Shrinkflation has come to Hueys. Dont bother ordering the $9 basket of sweet potato fries, theyre just the same size as the $5 side fries but with an extra useless cup of dressing no one asked for.

Came here with some local friends who told me Huey's is a Memphis staple, with several locations around the city. I'd heard a lot of good things, but overall my experience was pretty mediocre. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The service was fast and friendly, and I really liked the unique decor and cool vibe inside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Unfortunately, the food didn't meet my expectations. I ordered the Bluff City Burger, which was $10.65, not including a side. I still went ahead and got a French fry basket, thinking it would be worth it for good quality food. But the burger just didn't deliver. The flavors didn't come together well. The meat, bun, bacon, and crispy onion straws all felt disconnected, with no real cohesiveness that brings a burger together. There wasn't much BBQ sauce either, which made it feel even more underwhelming. While nothing was terribly wrong with it, nothing stood out either. For $10.65 (plus the cost of fries), I could definitely get a more satisfying meal elsewhere that includes a side and drink. Overall, it just didn't meet my expectations in terms of quality or value.

A Disappointing Experience at One of My Favorite Spots Huey's has been my go-to neighborhood spot--a place I visit at least once a month when I'm in Memphis to decompress. As someone who lives in California but travels back regularly to care for my mother, Huey's became a comforting little ritual. I'd order the same sandwich and fries, the same apple martini and take a picture of my drink like clockwork. It wasn't about posting; it was a moment I'd capture for myself, a reminder of calm in the chaos. Today, that experience was completely disrupted. For the first time, what I received was nothing like the apple martinis I've consistently been served for years. I ordered a second one after speaking with a manager, it was worst than the first. It was tasty but not what I requested and significantly less in volume, and the color was white and overly icy, unlike the vibrant green or blue versions I've always had from the bar. I respectfully raised the issue to two managers. Instead of being heard, I was met with dismissive looks and the unspoken assumption that I didn't know what I was talking about. That's the part that stung the most. What they didn't know is: I own a mobile bartending service, I'm a publicist, and I represent two franchise restaurants in Memphis. I've been in this business a while. I know a good pour and inconsistency. Despite showing them photo receipts of previous drinks from past visits, I received no offer to remake the drink, no discount, not even a gesture of goodwill--just a, "Well, I'm sorry." That's not how you treat a loyal customer. That's not southern hospitality. Huey's, I hope this reaches you. I've loved your restaurant, your vibe, and the little reset I get when I visit. But today, I left feeling unseen, unheard, and frankly--disrespected. It felt like my intelligence was being insulted, and my loyalty overlooked. Do better. Because guests like me don't just spend money--we choose to make you a part of our routine that you financially benefit. The best part of the experience was a waitress named Megan, she needs a promotion. A disappointed previously devoted customer.

Huey's is a staple in Memphis. There seems to be one everywhere. The service was fast and friendly. The interior is bordering on a dive but it's a comfortable feel. Nothing about our orders were great. In fact, the several times I've gone to Huey's (different locations), I've not been impressed. I can say, unequivocally, that you go to Huey's for reliably mediocre, decently priced food. I ordered the Smokey Melt with a turkey patty and Onion Straws. The onions straws could've been left a little while longer in the fryer but it was the best thing on my plate. The melt wasn't smokey, but you are given a smokey creamy sauce on the side. The melt itself was not a melt - the cheese wasn't even melted. It was more of a burger that was served on sliced bread. My husband ordered the Grilled Chicken Salad and said the chicken was rubbery. I'd recommend this place for quick, affordable bar food where you can watch whatever games are on. If you drink enough beer, you'll walk away full and hopefully happy.

Bluff City Burger with Onion Rings

Before going to the movies my friends and I decided to go to this Huey's location for lunch. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was a little crowded, but we were able to find a table to sit at.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] For appetizer we all share some cheese fries which was a good way to kick off lunch. For my main course I decided to get the Bluff City Burger with Onion Rings. The onion rings were ok , just feel like it needs more seasoning or something. The Bluff City Burger was absolutely delicious. The onion straws, bacon, and cheese help bring out everything in the burger.

    Onion Rings Basket

Honestly a great experience. Onion rings were cooked extremely well and a big ol basket for 8.95 is great. Potato soup was very good as well. The Rueben sandwich was amazing! Cooked very well and the thousand islands sauce was great with it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Classic American diner feel to it as well.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service was decent. Got the job done but nothing praise worthy. Will be back again!

All right - here we go.....drove to Memphis to pick up a car in Bartlett and along the way saw a review and suggestion for the best burgers in all of Memphis @ Huey's....lucky for us it was literally 1.2 miles only to get there as we were only coming down to pick up the car and drive back....so this was perfect. Ambiance reminded me like an Irish pub without all the Celtic references and Guinness signs...but the bar and tables were pretty normal for a restaurant. Service was excellent - once we sat down at the windows - Jennifer came along and introduced herself and asked why we were in town and if we wanted any appetizers....we declined however we did order the cheese fries along with our bluff city burgers. Food - tasty and done to our likeness. I won't say it was an epic meal but it was good and the cheese fried with bacon and scallions alongside some blue cheese dip were off the charts yummy albeit not the best for the body. Overall - stellar - why? The price.....the burgers were only 9,95 and together 2 burgers a huge plate of cheese fries - 1 soda and 1 beer only ran us $40 - that's a win!!! If your in the area give it a try and ask for Jennifer / she was the best!

    The Rock Slide

[[HIGHLIGHT]]A clean and tight pub.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Plenty of sets for watching games.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service is friendly and responsive. I had the Bluff City Burger (which was the right kind of messy) and finished with a Rock Slide for desert ( yeah it's as good as it looks.)

You need to add fries or tater tots with the purchase of a burger. Chilis has better burgers with sides, drinks, and appetizers.

The energy in the place is infectious and it is the kind of restaurant you want to come back to again and again. I ordered the Wildfire Burger, and it is honestly one of the best burgers I have had. It is made with black angus beef, 44 Farms Philly Steak, queso, peppers, onions, mushrooms, jalapenos, and Pepper Jack, all served with hand cut fries. Every bite was bold, juicy, and packed with flavor. The hand cut fries were crispy and perfectly seasoned to match. We also shared the Hot Mama 12 inch pizza with a chicken substitute, and it was outstanding. Fresh herbs, tomato sauce, mozzarella, red pepper flakes, basil, and local honey on a perfectly baked crust. The combination of heat and sweetness from the honey made it stand out from any pizza I have had recently. The menu here is creative and extensive, covering everything from shareables and salads to burgers, sandwiches, bowls, and saucer pies. There is truly something for everyone. The service was great and the whole experience felt well put together from start to finish. They were not what I would consider traditional lamb chops and were surprisingly chewy and difficult to enjoy. I returned and decided to try the Irish Curry Chicken. It was, without exaggeration, one of the worst dishes I've had there. The menu described it as chicken thigh, but it was clearly chicken breast. The dish lacked basic seasoning and flavor. There was very little salt, umami, or curry flavor. The rice was wet, overcooked, and mushy. Overall, the entire meal tasted like something taken from a grocery store freezer section and reheated. At this point, I would recommend sticking to the fries and the burgers, which remain the strongest items on the menu.

The menu clearly listed the Chicken Quesadillas for $8.95 and the Pizza for $13.95. However, when I placed my order, I was told the Chicken Quesadillas were actually $11.95. When I questioned the price difference, the employee admitted they had not updated the online menu and even said they had "been here for years" without changing it. That is unacceptable. If your website advertises one price but you charge another, customers are being misled. At the very least, the restaurant should update its website or honor the advertised price. Having outdated pricing online for years is not good business practice. To make matters worse, an automatic gratuity was added to my order. I don't believe gratuity should automatically be charged without clearly informing customers or giving them the opportunity to decide what they want to tip, especially when there is little or no table service involved. I also ordered a pizza, and it was another disappointment. It looked like a frozen boxed pizza that could have come from a grocery store rather than something made by a restaurant. It certainly was not worth the price. Because of the inaccurate menu pricing, the automatic gratuity, and the poor quality of the food, I left without purchasing the Chicken Quesadillas and have no plans to return. There are too many restaurants that value their customers and provide accurate pricing and better food. I cannot recommend TJ Mulligan's based on my experience. I hope management updates their website, ensures pricing is accurate, and improves the quality of the food and overall customer experience.
