Brewery #443 Came in here after doing little hiking for lunch and some beer. My buddy and I started off with a flight of Brussel sprouts. What a great idea! We had 3 of their 4 versions with the hot honey and bacon version being my favorite. I then decided I needed to eat light, so I got a Southwest Sante Fe salad which came with avocado, tomatoes, corn, cheese and a delicious cilantro lime vinaigrette. The bartender convinced me to add pulled pork. So much for eating light! There was enough pulled pork on the salad to fill up 3 sandwiches. Three Notch'd does flights of 4 for 10.00 and you can add another small pour for 2.5 so I ended up with 5 beers. Their IPAs were solid, but my favorites were the Jazzfest ( I am from New Orleans and all) which was a Pecan Amber ale and the Stoked Goat which was a Doppelbock. Great food and beer! Stopped in for a flight and a snack, and was pleasantly surprised at the amount of options with both food and drink. We ordered some truffle fries and the jalapeño popper burger, and both were delicious. The beers were all fantastic, but J particularly enjoyed the pecan amber ale. Our food and drinks came out quickly and we were very well taken care of. We had a nice seat outdoors on the patio area and people watched. It's pretty clear that this place has no idea how to make pretzel bites. You should advertise them as salad croutons. Didn't taste anything like pretzel at all. Also the buffalo chicken macaroni is one of the worst I've ever tried. I'm glad this place isn't in my hometown. They would have closed by now. read more

We were seated almost as soon as we walked through the door. Our server was understanding about needing a table downstairs. We got our drinks quickly. The cherry cider had a tart flavor which went well with my food. We had Nachos as an appetizer. We tried a wrap, a U pick two- I chose a salad and Brussel sprouts, and a chicken sandwich with a side of Mac and cheese. We enjoyed everything but the Nachos were very flavorful. Little did I imagine what I would find in this Craft Kitchen and Brewery located on one of the busiest corners of the building across from the Center in the Square in the corner of Campbell Ave and Wall Street in the heart of Downtown Roanoke. When I first walked in I was attracted by the large sign hanged high above in capital letters: "LEAVE YOUR MARK." It automatically gave a positive attitude of the place and of what life should be all about. The friendly host greeted me with a warm smile and immediately made me feel comfortable and at home. I told him.I was there to have dinner and he took me to a table in an excellent location next to a window. As I reviewed the menu I noticed that the place was very clean and cozy, and almost full even though it was early on a Monday evening. I also noticed how engaging and friendly all the staff members were with the customers who were enenjoying a good time either alone or with close friends. This was a place where members of the community could hang out with the ones they loved, either family or friends, and enjoy some time together with a quality drink and food. The ambiance of the place was such that reflected this very clearly. My server arrived also with a friendly and positive attitude, and very welcoming and happy to have me there for the very first time as a customer. She was very hospitable and knowledgeable about the menu and explained items on the menu that I had some questions about. The menus were nothing fancy, just simple pieces of paper, but what came after was an amazing dining experience with an extraordinary drink and food. To drink I ordered a Cherry Limeade Mocktail. And to eat I ordered the Big Pig Burger with bacon added and a side of French Fries. First came my drink and it looked as good as it tasted. They say a picture is worth a thousand words. Just take a look at my photographs that came with this review and you will see what I mean. Then my server came walking toward me with the burger and fries, and with a big friendly smile. And never again will I think of a burger and fries in the same way. They looked and tasted amazingly delicious! The burger pattie was quality meat cooked as ordered and very juicy and tasty. And the fries were the perfect cut seasoned and fried Just perfect, and served inside a small replica of a frying basket. I highly recommend this restaurant to the entire community. It is one of the few quality Breweries that welcomes the entire family to come and share a wonderful time and meal together. The ambiance is warm, friendly, and relaxing. And the staff couldn't treat you better. The City of Roanoke should be proud and honored to house this local business next to its historical Marketplace. read more

I was in town, just getting there and hungry, saw Three Notch'd and checked out the menu. Though it was Sunday around 1PM, still brunch time for them, they had a very nice menu of lunch type food too. I opted for their pretzel bites to start. What drew me to them was the description of the mustard and beer cheese that came with them. The pretzels had a really nice flavor, but the texture was too hard. The cheese was decent, but not as "strong" in cheese nor beer flavor as I was hoping for and the texture was too thick, not good for dipping. The mustard was awesome. The pretzels still did taste really good, especially dipped into either, but the mustard was better. Next up I ordered their boneless wings, but first I asked the server how they were made. She described them as freshly battered sliced chicken tenders, which sounded amazing to me! I was still hesitant that they might come out like hard nuggets. Well, they were absolutely perfect! The batter on them was great and the texture, tenderness of the chicken was great. I ordered the gochujang flavor and that sauce was very tasty! It had a nice spice to it as well. Service was a mixed bag... The hostess who sat me was really friendly and helpful. My server seemed like she had better things to do. Though she did a nice job answering my questions about the menu, refills on my water and attentiveness were seriously lacking. Made a stop here with our pup while on a roadtrip. We were suprised this was open on a Labor Day,but we got the last outdoor seating spot and a water bowl to our pup right away. Quick and efficient service + amazing beer & food. Beer is probably some of the best IPAs I've ever had! So so good (Emperor's IPA). Quirky interior inside made this feel very cozy (while heading in to use the restroom lol-dogs are only allowed outside). I was worried that the outdoor seating will be in the way for everyone but the segregated chain offers separation from those passing by, and some privacy,too. We stopped in for happy hour where you can get $1 off draft beers ms appetizers from 3-6! The bartenders and all the staff were super friendly and accommodating. We tried different beers and the more we talked with the staff the more we enjoyed ourselves! The watermelon sour was delicious! Delicious enough for me to buy a 6 pack to take home! They also offer flights if you can't quite choose just one! The only reason for 4 stars was the food. We tried the pretzel bites (which honestly tasted like sweet bread not very pretzel like) and the nachos. The nachos needed more toppings, but all in all it was fine food to snack on while drinking great beer! There's lots of seating with an upstairs and downstairs. However, beware of up charges as we were charged without warning (later it was removed by manager). Enjoyed some beers and burgers here while staying in Roanoke for a Virginia Tech football game weekend. The restaurant is split over three floors which offers a lot of seating opportunity. We were sat at a table on the third floor. Started things off with their Blood Orange Gose. It was nicely sour and I liked its use of blood orange purée. For appetizers we enjoyed the Parmesan Garlic Snacker (we selected the hand cut fries as our potato vessel) which came with a chipotle aioli. These got destroyed quickly. Nice and garlicky and cheesy. Yum. We also ordered the Pretzel Bites which came with mustard and their 40 Mile Cheese sauce. The kids in our group definitely liked these and I don't think I even got to one before they were gone! For my burger I choose the Portobello Mushroom Onion & Swiss (locally sourced beef patty topped with portobello mushrooms glazed in sweet Thai chili sauce, Swiss cheese, caramelized onions, and a brioche bun). It was a good burger. Nothing extraordinary but well prepared and tasty. As I had already eaten so many fries, I opted for the house salad for my side. It was a standard side salad. Was happy it was greens, not iceberg lettuce and definitely wasn't skimpy on croutons. All and all a solid start to the weekend and insight to the good food we'd have in Roanoke. read more

The decor is airy with multi level seating for dining. The menu is large - something for everyone. Service was friendly and prompt. Nothing is kept on the table so we kept having to ask for things - salt, ketchup, more napkins, etc. Food was honestly just ok. Cream of potato soup was probably the best item at our table. Burgers were meh. Nachos were ok. The pretzel bites tasted greasy, almost like they were deep fried. We were excited about the beer cheese and the Dr Pepper BBQ sauce and didn't like either. Beautiful place and friendly staff. That is all this place has going for it. We ordered the whiskey flight, which Parmesan fries and a cider. All not bad but not great. This is about all. I had the burger with bbq and the wife had chicken fingers. The burger was really tasteless, like Sam's club mass produced burger, the onion straws were stale and the bbq was dry and flavorless. The wife's chicken fingers were good but her fries were cold. The starter fries were warmer than the fries with her meal. We ran out of drinks before we saw our waitress again. Checked this place out on a Friday night with the wife and some friends. I got the Nephrology Hazy Juicy IPA as my beer. It was pretty good, perhaps not as juicy as other craft places but definitely drinkable. We ordered some parmesan garlic fries and the pretzel bites with beer cheese. The Parmesan Garlic Fries were actually the star of the meal, the chipotle aioli was a great pairing. The pretzel bites were fine and soft, and beer cheese also fine. I felt like both could have more flavor. I got the southern comfort Burger for my entree. This was a good burger. It was cooked right and the toppings matched well. I got the fried Brussel sprout salad, which was good but heavier than I expected. Service was fine, but not super fast, seemed like the waiters had tables all over the restaurant rather than designated sections, took a bit longer to pay than we expected. All in all a good place. I'd like to try more of their beer next time I'm in Roanoke, and I'll be thinking about the garlic parmesan fries. read more

The restaurant has a great vibes and comfortable, making it a nice place to hang out. However, the food was a bit underwhelming. The steak tacos were disappointing; the meat was more like shaved beef you'd find in a Philly cheesesteak, also lacking the expected chimichurri flavor and coming out quite dry. The Philly itself was heavy on cheese but didn't offer much else. Kids Mac and cheese didn't hit the mark either - odd plastic taste! On the bright side, the Brussels sprouts were excellent--crispy, flavorful, and the pretzel bites were easily the highlight of the meal. Great service also!! Would absolutely go back! They only have street parking at this location so parking can be tricky as it is in the downtown area. The area seem very neat with plenty of restaurants to pick from but we decided to eat while we were there and their food was excellent! Only one waitress on staff the day we went but it was during the week and not very busy and really there was no wait for anything! We requested to move up by the front (not busy) and she made a face while begrudgingly taking us elsewhere. No smiles and lackluster service. We ordered the uncool IPA. Must say it was very tasty for NA beer. We also got the Parmesan tots (sans cheese). They looked like Ore-Ida tots with dip. The most bizarre was the pretzel bites that came out as deep fried dough.
