They are definitely understaffed. The modern decor, floor to ceiling windows along with better indie music overhead could not redeem this location. Let me just say I am a Jacks connoisseur. I am from California so there was always a Jacks within a quick drive and was a staple in high school when Jumbo Jacks and chicken sandwiches were $1. I still find myself going to Jacks when I'm out of state and roaming the lands in the middle of the night and need a bite to eat. While I come here often due to random cravings, a noticeable short line or not wanting to go anywhere off the path back home, this (and the other locations) need a vast improvement on several things. My excitement for Jacks dwindled quickly as I visited each location. If things improve, I'll gladly update this review. My go to items at any given time of the day: Sourdough Jack with no tomato and curly fries, extreme sausage sandwich, eggrolls (I KNOW but they're good dipped in ranch), Ultimate Cheeseburger with bacon, chicken sandwich on sourdough bread, Oreo milkshake. Each of these items have come out either luke warm or made freshly fast-food style. I have had curly fries so crispy they were inedible. I have had soda that wasn't consumable due to it tasting like the syrup for the soda wasn't mixing right or was out. I have been charged for subbing a bun out with another because they were out of the bun for the burger. It's always something that is lacking each time I go outside of actual breakfast hours. Service is SLOW. I'm not sure how you have all those people on a shift and the orders cannot get out quick enough. The line in the drive thru is ridiculous. The wait inside is ridiculous. Ordering on the app isn't better since it lies and says your food will be ready in 7-10 minutes when it's actual more 20-30 minutes. Some type of flow inside needs to happen in order for there to be order to the chaos. Customer service is a hit or miss. Some are friendly and understand no one wants to wait so long in line but others are just transactional and look irritated that we're there to spend our hard-earned money where they work to be able to do the same. All their fried foods are always cold. It seems as though they are cooking a bunch of food and keeping it in a warmer. Even when I asked for it to be fresh, they say OK but they just pull it out of the warmer. I have witnessed it when I gone inside of the restaurant. This is not typical of Jack-in-the-Box as they will always make fried foods fresh to order, but maybe something has changed. When I try to give the food back so they can make it fresh they get very annoyed even though I asked for fresh food. The service is bad. I was pretty excited to see that jack in the box was coming to salt lake, but it took me until now to actually make it out. Ultimately, it is fast food, so it's not exactly a 5 star dining experience, but I do find that jack in the box food is probably among the upper tier of quality when it comes to fast food. The food here was no exception, except for the regular fries. Despite being extremely busy the regular fries were clearly old and cold. However, I give 3 stars for a few reasons: The inside of the building was quite dirty. Of the very few tables that were available, all of them had food, crumbs, and garbage on the ground, chairs and tables. Access to the restaurant is also very poor. There isn't actually any direct turn to the restaurant. You either have to turn into the car wash after it, or I believe the gas station before it. The way the drive through is set up the only way for cars to line up is to completely block off any cars that are parked in the parking lot. This location SUCKS! Service is SLOW! Even with 3 cars at the drive thru it was still slow. Food is always kinda warm like it was made a while ago and was just waiting to go out. To get sub par food and have it take so long doesn't make sense. Always check for sauce. I ordered 3 egg rolls and it didn't have any sauce in the bag. I asked for 3 sweet and sour sauces and received 2. I'm not sure what the deal is with this specific location but it is bad. It is like the management and employees could care less. It's a bummer to have the location closest to home be the worst jack in the box I've been to. I tried Jack in the box for the first time since they built it here today. Drive through line didn't move at all while I was waiting in it so I decided to go inside instead. It wasn't busy but they are a bit slower than some, which is okay with me when they're cooking chicken tenders, makes sense, but they did forget to give me the ones I ordered. They made it up by giving me an extra piece in my order. They were pretty good, better than chicken nuggets most places but not better than chicken tenders at the better chicken fast food places. I also had a sour dough burger with bacon and cheese. It was good, didn't come with any sauces so be sure to ask for them if you don't want a really dry sandwich. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here, but if I'm in the area I may try them again and get something else on the menu. read more

I ordered a sandwich minus cheese. When i received my order it had cheese on it. I asked to have it redone without the cheese as ordered. There was a 3-4 person meeting were they all looked at my sandwich. It was brought back to me and i was told there was no cheese on it. I pulled the lettuce back and pointed to the cheese. They took it back abd talked again. Then asked for my receipt. Then finally agreed to remake it. So i felt like a criminal when they messed up my order and i asked to have it fixed. I really enjoy Jack in the box, however the service at this location is a joke. The first time I went there we waited 20 mins with only two cars in front of us. The mic was on and we heard the whole conversation and we tried telling them we could hear everything but either they couldn't hear us or ignored us. The next day I tried again thinking the day before was a Sunday and those are always harder days. Nope the person taking my order was completely unprofessional, saying what I should get a different sandwich because it had more protein, when I got up to the second window, he said I paid for a coke and did I order that. Jack in the box is child hood memory for me. This fast food joint was a staple back in the 60's and 70's when I lived in the NW. today? The food hasn't changed much, the chicken was over breaded, but over all not bad. And the food came out in a decent manner. The problem, I have, is this. Children who don't know what customer service means. I get it, it's their first job. But I won't be ignored especially when I'm standing in front of them. Kid was staring at the order screen like it was his phone. Other kids in the back that look clueless and refuse to help. Then (and I'm not being rude) a few that speak no English. I sat in the drive through for over an hour, the guy who took my order was short with me when I asked if I could place two separate orders. The line for the drive through is badly set up so it's virtually impossible to place your order until the car in front of you has pulled around the building. Then when I got my food, they'd made it wrong (no special requests, they made the popcorn chicken as loaded which is not what I asked for, and due to a food allergy I couldn't have the sauce on there) they acted like it was ridiculous for me to expect them to fix it. The South Jordan location is relatively new, and obviously needs to work out some kinks. Right now, I'd give it 0 stars if I could. My husband and I reviewed the menu online first before entering the restaurant. The online menu showed a "Jumbo Jack combo," which includes a hamburger, fries, and drink. When I got to the counter to order, the Jumbo Jack combo wasn't on the board. There was a Jumbo Jack Cheeseburger combo, but no Jumbo Jack combo without cheese. I asked 2 employees about that. Both seemed surprised that it wasn't on the board. They told me that the Jumbo Jack combo was the same as the Jumbo Jack Cheeseburger combo, but just didn't have the cheese. Having been assured that they did actually sell the Jumbo Jack combo w/o cheese, I ordered it. I also ordered a Southwest Grilled Chicken Salad. When we received our order, we discovered a CHEESEburger, not a hamburger, and the salad had no chicken on it!!! Imagine--a grilled chicken salad with NO chicken!!! I returned the cheeseburger to the counter, and they replaced it with a hamburger. They also replaced the salad with one that had chicken on it, but then forgot the tortilla strips and the dressing. I should have stuck with the salad w/o the chicken, because the chicken was ice cold, and was a strange consistency and flavor. In addition to the food disaster, the parking and drive-thru are disastrous as well. The drive-thru line and the cones channeling the traffic block access to many of the parking spaces, including the handicap ones. Fortunately, there was an employee directing traffic. Maybe this will all work itself out when the newness wears off, and the employees become more experienced. But I will never find out, because I won't be going back. read more
