I was craving tacos and had this place recommended to me by several of my Latino classmates, so I had pretty high hopes. It was okay, but I may also just have really high expectations coming from the Mission District in SF. I ordered 9 tacos total at $3.40 each and tried the asada, al pastor, chorizo, and tripa. Unfortunately, I was pretty disappointed with the flavor of all the meats. None of them really stood out or had much seasoning. It felt like the meat was just cooked until cooked and that was about it. The tortillas were also a little dry and had an almost sandpaper-like texture, which didn't help. The saving grace was the toppings and sauces. They offer onions and jalapeños to add to your tacos, and their sauces were actually delicious. The folks are really nice but the crowd will be expecting you to move along! At 345pm on a Saturday is amazing! We did end up getting a table but it is BUSY! Some of the best tacos I've had, anywhere. All of the meats we tried (al pastor, carne asada, chorizo) were incredible. We saw the huge al pastor rotisserie and thought nothing would top that, but all options were truly excellent. The guac, tortillas, and agua frescas were also top-notch. There's a salsa bar with several options, one of which had a nice heat! My husband recommends the quesadillas too. The food was mid, it did have a lot of flavor but unfortunately, we got food poisoning (4 out of 5 did) because he only had a horchata and did not even eat anything so he looked out, but us other four was extremely sick. This is a very small building for how busy it is and how loud the music is playing you can't even hear the cashier! it's just not a very clean environment. Brings me back to the cashier who couldn't hear me and messed up my order (reason why my son didn't eat here) she didn't even get the poor kid cheese quesadilla.... No frills, straight up, excellent food. Everything we have tried is reminiscent of growing up in San Diego, where we have Tijuana style tacos in abundance. The salsa bar is plentiful and SPICY. This al pastor is some of the best anywhere! It's cut off of a vertical el trompo spit with a tasty redish marinade, tender chunks of pork, super good. The best way I've enjoyed it is inside a Vampiro, stuffed and overflowing with meat for around $6 each. It's basically a mulita instead between two cracker crispy tortillas. I also tried one of their Tijuana-style street tacos, their asada, average in size, meat with good flavor, and smothered in guacamole. I liked it, but not worth $3 each. The public knows about the quality of this place, so it can be hard to get a table. But they have a lot of staff so food usually doesn't take too awfully long, though cooked fresh. They aren't too into customer service here, just get you in and get you out. It's fast casual, so order at the counter. Their little patio right next to the parking lot has clean tables. And they have a nice salsa bar, so load up on that yummy creamy (and lil spicy) orange salsa. I'll definitely be a regular. read more

I always say "Si!" when they ask if I want the onions and peppers. They are grilled onions and jalapeno peppers and they are SO good! Served in a paper tray. I've been here four or five times. Consistently good. Service is quick. Ambiance is a busy cafe, crowded, you probably share a long table with others. There is outdoor seating, which is always full because every time I've been there, it has been packed. 5* = A top favorite. Mind-blowing good. Favorite Taco joint in the greater Salt Lake area, taking the throne from Chungas (also wonderful) but if you like crispy, smoky Al Pastor with fiery red salsa, this is your place.
