*** Review based on the Groupon deal only *** Recently I need a photoshoot for social poses and discovered Jack Randall Photography via the Groupon deal. [Groupon package]: One hour family portrait session with one 8X10, two 4X6, and 5 low resolution digital images - original price = $430 but Groupon price = $49. Must return to the studio to view the photos or pay $399 to release all digital photos over the phone (no prior notice & only learned about the additional cost few days after the session). Appointment required and must call business number (no email option upon the first contact) to make an appointment (open from 9 AM - 3 PM for scheduling). Customers will need to leave name, email, phone number, and Groupon redemption code over the call. [Caveat #1 - location]: The Groupon deal stated "capture memories at 9 scenic Orange County spots", but in reality the studio only offers 5 locations (Caspers Wilderness Park. Los Rios Historic District, able Rock Beach, Serrano Creek Park, and Mission San Juan Capistrano). Mission San Juan Capistrano requires additional arrangement and an extra charge. Over the call, Studio Manager Kimberly offered beach or park locations as soon as next day or the upcoming weekend & I took the next day option. [Photoshoot session at 7 PM]: I met owner Jack at Table Rock Beach exactly at 7 PM and he was friendly & easy to work with. He instructed me with couple poses and was able to take approximately 100+ pictures in 30 minutes. The sun set at 7:30 PM and we couldn't take any more pictures after dark, so the session ended and Jack said to give him a call in two days to finalize the process. [Finalizing process - additional package & payment]: Unfortunately this is where the miscommunication & blindside on additional cost happened. I called Jack to finalize the process and he said few options are available including paying additional $39.99 to download all digital copies. All I heard is $39.99 and immediately gave my credit card info over the phone. Jack said I will receive a link to download in few hours later and I went out to watch movies. After I came back home, I decided to check my credit card account and to my surprise I saw $399.99 charged to my card instead. [Caveat #2 - pricing]: Jack did reach out the following day after I had left a voicemail and he emailed me the description of the Digital Package which is listed $399 (high resolution digital download + additional free session at a preferred location within 180 days & can be given as a gift + 20% off all custom prints ordered on day of digital package purchase.) Essentially I was paying $49 Groupon deal + $399 for all digital copies for a 30-minute session. [Communication]: Honestly I didn't mind spending a little extra on top of the Groupon deal, but $399 completely exceeded the amount I was willing to spend or else I wouldn't accept the digital package. I was able to clarify the misunderstanding with Jack over the call and found a middle ground solution at the end. [Conclusion]: I reviewed my digital high resolution pictures and they definitely looked very professional, but I really wish the studio can just send out a list of additional pricing options over an email instead of discussing it over a call to avoid misunderstanding. 5-star on quality of photos, 4-star on communication & resolution, and 1-star on Groupon deal with a lack of transparency on additional costs. read more

Absolutely love Jack. I booked an appointment thru their website and they called me within 24 hours to book a date. I thought it would need to be a week in advance but they had availability for the next day which was amazing!. Upon arriving their studio is incredibly clean & comfortable. Jack is kind and easy going so I felt comfortable, especially as a woman going alone. He asked me what I needed the photos for and made suggestions. I brought an extra outfit just incase. He had poses ready to go and made it such an easy process. The whole thing took one hour.. 30 mins of photo shoot and another 30 mins of reviewing which photos I wanted. I rarely write reviews for anyone but I am just blown away with Jack Randall Photography services. Mr. Randall is the best! My real estate company sent me to get professional marketing photos done so I didn't know anything about Mr. Randall before walking into his studio. I am NOT photogenic at all! When people see me in real life they sometimes make comments about how much better I look in person . And considering this image is going to be plastered all over the city for my real estate business, I had massive anxiety before this shoot. I was asking him a million questions and being extremely annoying with my requests but he was so patient with me and assured me everything was going to turn out OK. During the photo shoot he made me feel very comfortable and I was laughing the whole time because he was making jokes yet maintained the utmost professionalism. I've done plenty of photo shoots with fancy photographers before, but the photographer usually takes forever to get the lighting right and makes me feel like a burden only to end up with subpar photos. A lot of times these photographers don't tell you what to do, they just let you freestyle it. Mr. Randall, directs you and tells you exactly how to pose to get the PERFECT photo the first time. He was so fast and for a second I was thinking "Oh no! He gave up on me already!" Turns out, he just really knows what he was doing! He knocked it out of the park! I couldn't be happier! I showed my mom and she wants to frame them! I know for some people that's not a big deal, but if you knew my mom, that is huge! And I'm a 31-year-old adult. I feel so confident about my marketing pictures now! A huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders! I also had a couple requests for the retouching and he did everything way better than I could've expected! The retouching looks super natural! I am super picky and meticulous so I notice the tiniest detail. I get that from my mom. One more thing! Even though he's so good at what he does, he remained so humble and sweet the entire time! I needed an updated pic for LinkedIn as well as some new pics for my website. After doing some research, I found a Groupon and decided to go with Jack Randall photography since they have good reviews. Nikki, the office manager, was very kind and easy to talk to. She booked me with the photographer Jacob Harrison, who was available the following week. Jacob excellent! Keep in mind this was in November so they were fairly busy due to so many people needing holiday photos for their Xmas cards. I met Jacob at the beach and brought several different wardrobe changes with me. I was very nervous and kinda stiff, anxious that I wouldn't like any of my pics, but Jacob was very grounding and easy to work with. He liked my ideas for lifestyle shots, and vice versa, I liked his ideas and suggestions as well. His direction and down to earth demeanor were very helpful during my 90 minute shoot. Once the images were uploaded I was sent a link to view my gallery online. Each image I wanted to purchase was an additional $20 each on top of the $89 I paid for the actual shoot. If retouching is needed, Jack Randall also offers this services for an additional $20 per photo. I ended up purchasing my entire gallery for $299.00 (plus tax) as high resolution downloads because that was more cost effective since there were so many images in my gallery I wanted. That's how good Jacob is. I highly recommend Jacob. He's excellent at outdoor photography and using natural lighting. And I now have a much better LinkedIn photo as well as pics my mom wants, as well as pics for my website. read more

We recently used Jack for a family photo shoot. The experience from beginning to end could not be more simple and enjoyable.
