Great spot with fresh seafood and the fried platters are good. I had the fried shrimp which were done perfect. I also got a crab cake and it was not good. Overcooked and greasy it was loaded with fresh crab but just not done very well. I will come back and recommend this place but stick with what is fresh and looks good in the counter. A lot of the low reviews are due to poor crabs. Look at what's in the case before you order and order what looks good and fresh. My fried shrimp would have been a 5 star. My crab cake was a 2. And it is a dive so I got to go down to 3. Overall a good experience. But know what you're going for. No place to eat here everything is to go. You can get fresh seafood, cooked or raw, but look at what's they have before you order. Easy access to river street and fair prices. read more

I love garlic crab and get it from several different seafood markets. This is the second time I've gotten it from Jackie's and it's no good. Honestly they can say it's fresh all they want but what I think they do is throw whatever old onto the new and just keep doing it until all are sold. Half of my Pound smelt putrid, were Mushy as hell and the little that I tried before throwing them All out were rancid! When I called to let them know at first I got hung up on and then called again. I was told if I brought them back I could get a refund, but only during the same day. I let them know I'm not going to drive all the way back once I got home especially with the gas prices, it's just not worth it, but that they need to consider tossing the whole batch in the garbage because they're gonna get someone sick. I did not eat them. If you like garlic crab go to Pooler Seafood, Nancy's downtown or Woods. Jackie's crabs are gonna make you sick! I wouldn't even be leaving this review if it weren't the second time this happened and they actually gave a damn. But they don't care.... We had steamed crabs and conch. Crabs were plentiful. Seasoning could have been better for sure. Conch were a little tough. I'll have to be more specific next time about the conch but overall not bad. read more

Normally, this location is our go-to for a variety of fresh and delicious seafood. Our last visit, however...don't think so...at least not until they kick up their sanitary practices a LOT, because it seemed as though the employees forgot about a thing such as basic, common sense, hygienic practices. The staff wore masks, and there were plexiglass barriers, but the front and back doors were wide open. In this weather, that meant flies were everywhere. One girl was swatting flies around the customers' prepared food area, and another one was picking up the squashed flies with gloved hands that he rubbed with sanitizer afterward. He probably used the same gloves to handle food. He seemed pretty pleased with himself because he was giggling. Thank goodness (???) one of the kitchen staff handled our food from beginning to end, and I didn't see him do anything outrageous, and he handed our food directly to us - so it was not near where the employee was squishing flies. Now, I'm pretty sure this establishment brings in enough revenue that they are able to afford extra disposable gloves and a system to deal with the flies other than killing them around customers' food. That is extremely unsanitary stomach churning, actually. Had I seen this nonsense before ordering our food, I would have cartwheeled backwards out of there in a hurry. It will be an extremely long time IF I ever think about patronizing this place again. If you care about your health, you should do the same. ***with this experience in mind, I probably shouldn't talk about the food, but here goes*** The flounder, as beautifully prepared as it was, was so salty that it was inedible. The oysters, thankfully, were seasoned with a restrained hand and tasted good. We also had boiled shrimp - I could tell these were local because they were fresh-tasting and sweet. Unfortunately, the food that was actually good cannot redeem this place in my eyes. It will take a LOT of bleach, and a score from the health department that is visible and above 95 to make that happen again. The food here is very good but customer respect is not. They are not friendly at all, and on the edge of rude. Calling in an order on the phone is like fighting a war. They don't take orders for fried fish over the phone even if you pre pay and with the pandemic that's ridiculous. The only reason why I am giving this place 1 stars is because the fried fish (croaker) I purchased was seasoned to perfection and fried well. However the 1/2 dozen of medium blue crab I purchased was horrible. The first two crabs I ate were dry and you could tell they were old. They tasted like they were sitting around somewhere in a back room. The third one I cracked open was mushy but dry also. I couldn't eat anymore after that. I called the store the next day to complain. I didn't have the energy or patience to take them back, but the young lady I spoke to told me since I didn't take them back the same day, I couldn't get my money back. First of all I wasn't asking for my money back because I had no plans to come back, since I live 30 minutes away. However, if I wanted a refund, what did it matter if I came back the same day or one day after since I have a receipt of when I purchased the crab. She mentioned something about they have different people working different shift so when you come back the same day, they would be able to recognize you. Say what, recognize me! Please tell me why is it important for anyone to recognize me when you know darn well you are selling old crusty, dried out crabs. That is absurd! read more

My husband and his coworkers, occasionally, order food from Jackie's for lunch. He is always telling me how great and reasonably priced the food is so this evening I decided to give it a try. I have lived in Georgia my whole life and I have eaten shrimp since I was an infant. These were the mushiest shrimp I have EVER had in my life. I had to do a double take to make sure I wasn't eating an extremely over cooked potato. The flavors were good but the consistency of the shrimp was unbearable. Poor customer service. I called the store and placed a to go order 40 minutes before I arrived. I was told that I didn't call that location when I placed the order. Be mindful that Jackie's Seafood is charging people more than the prices advertised. I went to get snow crab legs and the price advertised is $17.99 and I was charged $21.99 and then on top of that they charged me for cooking. I understand the price for cooking - what I don't understand is that they are getting away with not giving detailed receipts with what was ordered and they are getting away with charging more than advertised. I got my money back and informed people to check their receipts. read more

For 4 th of July my family wanted steamed blue crabs. Jackie's on 80 was one of the few markets that had a bushel of small males ready for about $110. They came out in 20 min hot and steaming and with the choice of additional seasoning on or on the side. They gave us a free bag of ice with our purchase! The crabs actually were a mixed batch in a thick plastic bag inside a thick cardboard box that fit perfectly in my trunk! It was very busy day for them but they handled our order in a organized and timely manner. They even had their little kids learning the business! I've been going to jackies for over 10 years when I need large seafood orders. They have a very wide variety of seafood to pick from and a choice to have them steamed or fried. You can even bring you own fresh catch and have them clean and cook it for you for a reasonable fee. I love the fact that the facility does not smell like old fish drain either.
