As others have noted, Savannah Seafood Shack is a small restaurant with limited seating. However, the service and the food was top notch. So you're supposed to wait to be seated (to get a table number), then go up and order and they bring your food to your table. When I arrived, there was nobody at the maitre'd stand so I just got in line like the other two parties ahead of me. I quickly figured things out and made my order of the fried Fish and Shrimp platter with cajun fries. I just came from the gym so I was pretty hungry. The food came out piping hot and it was simply delicious. The food was fried/cooked perfectly with no excess oil. Portion wise, I feel that I got good value for my money. Made a short trip to Savannah with some out of state family and the first thing they wanted was some seafood. This place came highly recommended on yelp so we stopped in. The vibe was very cool. The nets on the ceilings, the murals, the subway tile...I really liked it. It was pretty empty when we go there so our party of 7 was seated right away. We were given menus and told to go up to the front to order. Hawk took our order and they were super awesome. Very knowledgable and helpful. I got an oyster po boy with sweet potato fries, my mom and aunt got shrimp salads, my brother and sister got the shrimp tacos, and we got hush puppies, calamari, and a couple of clam chowders to share. (My little cousin got chocolate cake for lunch. That's it. The perks of traveling with your grandparents! LOL) Several of us also got adult beverages...they had a decent selection to chose from. My po boy was really good and the sweet potato fries were excellent. The shrimp salads and tacos were enjoyed as well. The hush puppies and the BUTTER were amazing! I thought the calamari was just a little tough (but not the worst) and the clam chowder was thin...more of a soup. The quality of this place has gone downhill over the years. We visit Savannah every year and have made this place a staple every visit, but I think this time was the last. The prices have gone up and portions down. Not only that, but the quality of the ingredients seems to have gone down too. We did the Shack Attack and split it as we always have-- it seems like they're taking the scallops to a mandolin and slicing them into strips. The seafood was very fresh. We went for lunch and weren't that hungry so we didn't order as much as we wanted to. Out of everything we tried, my husband's favorite was the corn. It was so good that we ended up ordering an extra side. Since it was lunchtime, it wasn't very crowded. We actually tried coming the night before around 7:30 pm but it was quite busy and we had to catch a 9 pm movie, so we didn't want to wait. The service was good, and all the staff were friendly. We opted for fried fish here for lunch. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and very helpful. My wife loved her shrimp tacos, and my fried fish cone was unique, yet very delicious. There was a large amount of fish in my cone. It was very filling on its own. The coleslaw inside was spicy (had some tumeric flavors) and really counterbalanced nicely with the sweetness of the cone and the tanginess of the shack sauce. The location is casual and relaxed but clean and inviting. Many other diners were eating the low country boil or other fried fish. I highly recommend this for seafood while in Savannah. read more

Once you get sat and decide what to order, you go to the counter to order. We went ahead and ordered the fried shrimp po'boy with sweet potato fries and crawfish steamed boil. The total came out to be around $40 with tip of course. The po'boy and fries were so flavorful; the seasoning was all there and so fresh. The crawfish was good too. It comes with potatoes and 2 corn on the cobs, but it was hard to get the meat out of the tail (I've been told that means it's not as fresh as it should be). But the seasoning was also there, and brought everything together perfectly! Service was good too, and the staff were very attentive and welcoming. Definitely worth the try!! read more

I visited Savannah Seafood Shack back in December 2024. This was a great find on Google & Yelp, I trusted the reviews. I called my order in with no issues, great customer service. Keep in mind they are located in a downtown busy area. Parking is gonna be hard to find, I parked for a few minutes on the side of street. They do have alot of seating inside the restaurant. All the food was yummy, seasoned well and good portion sized. I ordered the low country seafood boil. I will most definitely will return and hopefully eat inside next time. read more

Absolutely delicious!! I was visiting Savannah for the weekend and stopped in for lunch. I split a seafood boil with crab legs and shrimp with my husband. The portion was a bit small for two people and they charge extra for deveined shrimp. Otherwise it was well seasoned and delicious! The jalapeño crab poppers were the best part though - I wish we got two orders! It was pretty busy in a Saturday afternoon around lunch time but we were quickly given a table - turnover of tables seemed quick and you order from the counter. We were excited to try this place because we all love fried clams and while they don't have whole belly ones, the strips were worth a try. I have to say that it turns out the clam strips are not their strong suit. The boil bags seem to be the hit item and I would try that if I went back. This was my first time here and a friend of mine loves this place and wanted to eat here while we were in town. She loves the shrimp tacos and that's what she got, but I decided to get the fried calamari cone and a side of potato salad with a nice cold beer and it was perfect. I do not even generally like potato salad nor do I like coleslaw but I knew the cone had coleslaw in it so I risked it anyway and figured out what the heck and the risk was worth it! Both were really delicious. The coleslaw was mostly at the bottom of the cone and I do wish it would've been spread throughout a little bit better but still it was really really good with the calamari and the waffle cone itself was edible and very tasty. My total was only $20.87 and I don't think that's bad at all for a touristy area with great flavorful food. We were on foot so we didn't have to worry about parking or anything and our wait time was less than 10 minutes in the middle of a Saturday afternoon. Staff was really great and made sure we had everything we needed while we sat outside on the sidewalk seating area. I would definitely return. I need to try another fried cone now! read more

It's super casual (order at the front counter amd they bring your food to your table) but everything we ordered was fresh and delicious. My wife had the Shrimp Po' Boy (Buffalo Style) w/Calum Fries as her side. I had the Fried Clam Strips (Buffalo Sauce on the side) w/Cole Slaw. Both were great! Definitely recommend the Buffalo Style if U like a little spice on your fried seafood. And the fries and cole slaw were very good! The Crab/Shrimp Boil looked amazing but we didn't have a lot of time and it looked like a lot more work. So we will get next time. They had a decent Beer selection and fountain drinks. When you walk in, they put a ton of accolades printed on the windows. Walk further into the back and the restrooms are dirty, flooded, and gross. If you peek into the kitchen, it looks similar. But for the food, its bland but salty. Ive had my fair share of seafood boils and this place disappointed, especially with all the reviews. We had a trip through all the states in the South, and this place was the worst we've tried. The shrimp was mushy like its been dead for some time. My partner and I had to keep dipping the shrimp into the garlic butter they provided since there was no flavor other than that salt. We started with the hushpuppies which were probable the best I've ever had. It was fried perfectly, a little sweet, and had corn in it which is all I want in a hushpuppy. Also, the butter was super good! I got the fried calamari with corn and I loved how it was fried because it didn't make it super oily and the calamari tasted fresh. The corn tasted amazing and very buttery but I wish it was hotter as it was a bit cold. I did knock a star because the star of the boil (shrimp) was so overcooked it was hard to peel! At first I thought it was maybe my gloves but when I finally got a piece I eagerly bit into it & the shrimp was so soft it created a very weird texture. That was the case for about 70% of the boil, the rest were great. Based on their reviews & my first experience they clearly know what they're doing so I'd just assume it's a rare occurrence for that to happen. Also, they sell their seasoning! My wife and I each got a bowl clam chowder and both of us enjoyed it. My wife got the fish tacos for her entree. She said it was a tad spicy but tasty and filling. I opted for the Shrimp Boil and enjoyed every bite of it. Sadly it was such a large portion i was unable to finish it. Let me give you a heads up its very spicy which was good for me but not for everyone. After the meal I asked the manager how can I order it less spicy and she said order spice on the side.
