Shrimp Poboy and Cajun fries
Gary K.

From the moment I walked in and Carly gave me the rundown on how everything works I then ordered the most amazing shrimp Poboy ever New Orleans got nothing on you and the best Cajun fries Leah brought that to me and she was awesome as well 10 star service 10 star Food I actually burnt my gosh darn lip on that piece of shrimp but that's OK that means somebody cooked it fresh and cared Rock on Savannah seafood! Our Famous Lowcountry Boil, side of cold slow and sweet potato fries.
Christy C H.

The seafood was very fresh. We went for lunch and weren't that hungry so we didn't order as much as we wanted to. Out of everything we tried, my husband's favorite was the corn. It was so good that we ended up ordering an extra side. Since it was lunchtime, it wasn't very crowded. We actually tried coming the night before around 7:30 pm but it was quite busy and we had to catch a 9 pm movie, so we didn't want to wait. The service was good, and all the staff were friendly. They explained how the ordering process worked once we were seated. The space was nice and the tables weren't too cramped together.

Loved our lunch. I will say as good as it was, I'm giving it 4 stars because I think the prices are high for order at a counter meals.

Fried Calamari Cone Boiled Red Potatoes

Great food and fast service! Got the hush puppies, calamari cone and seafood boil with everything and added sausage. Food was absolutely incredible and tons of flavor, just wish the food came out hot or at least warmer. Love that the cone was sweet. Would recommend!

Super tasty quick lunch while shopping in the historic district. Perhaps a tad on the top end price-wise but the portions are plentiful. Seafood was fresh and the smoked sausage was top tier. Our itinerary had a short window to eat and the fast casual service setup ensured we were able to make our meetup. Will definitely stop in again when in Savannah.

Low Country Boil

Just a few doors down from Leopold's Ice Cream, this is the perfect spot for a low country boil. Packed with shrimp, beef sausage, potatoes and two pieces of corn on the cob. It's dripping with buttery spices but I he lemon pepper and Cajun seasonings are both pretty light. You can add cocktail sauce, tartar sauce and hot sauce and I'm sure you can request extra seasoning. It's a filling meal with just enough room for Leopold's to follow.

Fried Shrimp Po' Boy & Crawfish Steamin Combo

Craving seafood? This is the place! They've been recognized in multiple channels like food network, so definitely take their word for it. My friend and I were lucky to not have a long wait. Once you get sat and decide what to order, you go to the counter to order. We went ahead and ordered the fried shrimp po'boy with sweet potato fries and crawfish steamed boil. The total came out to be around $40 with tip of course. The po'boy and fries were so flavorful; the seasoning was all there and so fresh. The crawfish was good too. It comes with potatoes and 2 corn on the cobs, but it was hard to get the meat out of the tail (I've been told that means it's not as fresh as it should be). But the seasoning was also there, and brought everything together perfectly! Service was good too, and the staff were very attentive and welcoming. Definitely worth the try!!

The food was pretty decent for the price. I got the poboy and Cajun fries. The poboy could have had more sauce on the side and the fish needs more seasoning, other than that it was pretty good.

Read about the "voted best low country boil in savannah. Had to find out. And yes. Definitely lived up to the name. 2 cobbettes of corn. Lots of shrimp and andouile sausage. Make sure it is deveined and tails off on the shrimp. Very good. Candyce had the chicken tender combo with the sweet potato fries. With hush puppies to share. Very good all around and worth the wait.

Great food and service. Get the low country boil and you will taste why it is famous.

Steamed boil ready to be unwrapped

This restaurant is brilliant! You are seated, but when you are ready, you go to the counter to order. Fountain drinks so you get at many refills as you wish. Food is steamed or fried. They offer gloves and bibs. My family of 6 was able to eat a variety. Staff were efficient and quick! Clean and easy and very tasty.

I visited Savannah Seafood Shack back in December 2024. This was a great find on Google & Yelp, I trusted the reviews. I called my order in with no issues, great customer service. Keep in mind they are located in a downtown busy area. Parking is gonna be hard to find, I parked for a few minutes on the side of street. They do have alot of seating inside the restaurant. All the food was yummy, seasoned well and good portion sized. I ordered the low country seafood boil. I will most definitely will return and hopefully eat inside next time.

Fried Fish Cone
Michael N.

We opted for fried fish here for lunch. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and very helpful. My wife loved her shrimp tacos, and my fried fish cone was unique, yet very delicious. There was a large amount of fish in my cone. It was very filling on its own. The coleslaw inside was spicy (had some tumeric flavors) and really counterbalanced nicely with the sweetness of the cone and the tanginess of the shack sauce. The location is casual and relaxed but clean and inviting. Many other diners were eating the low country boil or other fried fish. I highly recommend this for seafood while in Savannah.

Ask the Community - Savannah Seafood Shack

Is there outdoor seating for people with dogs?

Yes, when we were there they had two small tables outside for two people each. Two people were eating outside with their dogs and one of the workers even brought out a water bowl for the dog.

Is this a sit-down restaurant with servers or just a place to get take-out?

Sit-down, but pretty much no service. You stand in line to order at the counter, find a place to sit (or they might help you find a place to sit), and someone will bring your food to you. Think of Panera Bread.

Do they have a raw bar?

No. This is more of a fried seafood place.

Mom enjoyed her po boy. Said it was very good. My daughters LOVED the Mac n cheese and really it was delicious. I may have stolen a couple bites. Our Uber driver highly recommended Sorry Charlie's, so we decided to give it a try. Our first visit was genuinely pleasant, which is why we came back. However, our second visit was ruined by an encounter with the manager. This person was extremely rude and dismissive--I'm genuinely shocked she works in the service industry. We arrived for dinner and were told there would be a 10-20 minute wait, which we agreed to. After approximately 20 minutes, the manager stormed across the restaurant and yelled at us as if we were children, demanding we not stand by the hostess stand. We had never been instructed to wait elsewhere. My wife reacted as anyone would have and expressed her frustration. The manager then escalated the situation, exchanged words with us, and ultimately kicked us out while threatening to call the police. Hoping to resolve things professionally, I returned the next morning to have a mature conversation about the incident. The manager's response was condescending: "You guys are brave coming back in here." This unprofessional comment from management spoke volumes. The food quality is excellent and the staff is great, but this manager is a significant problem. She is unsuited for customer service and needs to find work elsewhere.

The brunch menu is fairly…read moreextensive, so we had some difficulty choosing what to order....but definitely come hungry because the portions are large and the food is pretty rich. To share amongst the table, we ordered the cinnamon toast banane and crispy gouda grit croquettes. Thumbs up on both, particularly the croquettes which were the right balance of gooey and structured enough to eat with the delicious sauce on the side. The cinnamon toast banane was not so much toast as cinnamon rolls with bananas foster; the cinnamon rolls were really tasty and the bananas foster was good, though the bourbon flavor was strong. For my entree, I ordered one of the lighter vegetarian dishes - the mushroom tartine with tomato soup. I think it is one of the lighter dishes - certainly lighter than what my dining companions ordered - but it was still quite rich with a fair amount of gouda fondue in the tomato bisque soup. The mushroom tartine/sandwich was really flavorful with the pesto, cheese and tons of mushrooms. The restaurant is quite large with an upstairs seating area.

Been here for both dinner and lunch. All this said, I think my approach to this review is comprehensive. With regard to food, I think they have a decent (not expansive) selection of food, which I think lends itself to quality. They do most things really well. This said, I do think there is inconsistency based on staff at the restaurant. On one occasion they have accommodated a request, and on another I was denied the exact same request. I found this frustrating. On one occasion I've also seen management talk down to staff here, which is a big no no for me. All people (especially staff) are due respect and this rubbed me the wrong way. This was an isolated incident but it definitely made my dining experience uncomfortable. Especially because I was getting excellent service from the server!!! I've always had quality service from servers here. In the future, I would come to Rhett for convenience as a hotel guest (the hotel is lovely), but would likely not spend my money if I wasn't staying at the hotel. Overall- it's good food, decent ambiance... but there are soooo many good options in Savannah. You have to be exceptional to stand out in that city.

I accidentally made reservations for Vic's River Grill instead of Vic's on the River (completely my mistake!). Thankfully, Renee, the hostess, was incredibly kind and accommodating. She quickly helped get our group seated in the correct restaurant, and I really appreciated how gracious she was. Our server, Marissa, was attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the evening. I can never pass up fried green tomatoes, and these were a great way to start the meal. I also ordered the she-crab soup, which was rich, creamy, and full of flavor...definitely one of the highlights of dinner. For my entree, I chose the fried red snapper with collard greens and Parmesan risotto. The snapper was just okay, and while the collard greens were good, the risotto was unfortunately overcooked and had a mushy texture. Although my entree didn't quite wow me, the outstanding hospitality from Renee and Marissa, the charming historic atmosphere, and the beautiful views along the river made it a memorable birthday dinner. I'd happily return for the she-crab soup, fried green tomatoes, and the exceptional service.
