The Jackman Hotel offered a warm, clean, inexpensive place to sleep on a freezing cold night.
The service was kind. The room was spacious and spotlessly clean. The heater got the place toasty warm. And all that for about $50.

Oh, and it was here that I learned that on very cold nights condensation can form on the inside of a nearly empty gas tank. That condensation can slide down and in the morning you end up with a fuel line full of something closer to water than fuel. And then you'll have to pour in an additive and wait before you can get your car started to head to the station to buy the gas you needed to buy anyhow.
