If you've been reading reviews of auto body shops, you know how the story goes: I decided to introduce the side of my car to the wall in a Costco parking garage on a particularly tight corner. I was beyond mortified by what I had done, especially since I usually consider myself a good driver. Getting the damage fixed at Jack's was an amazingly simple and easy process. I headed over on a Saturday for a free estimate and Jack personally met me and gave me an estimate on the spot with no wait. He was also willing to leave the bumper as-is and just buff out what he could since there were only two scratches on the bumper and redoing the bumper would cost significantly more. The price was several hundred cheaper than the other quote I got from another well-reviewed body shop, so I decided to go with Jack's. I dropped my car off on a Tuesday morning and Jack told me it would be ready within a few days. I got the call from Jack early today on a Thursday so it only took him two days! The damage looks like it was never there and Jack was even able to buff out most of the scratches on the bumper. Overall, a super easy process that I hopefully won't have to repeat, but if I do decide to introduce my car to any more parking garage walls, I'll definitely be back.

Rubber seals he did not replace after bring it to his attention more then twice while the first repair

We was referred to Jack's about two year s ago by a friend, we had a tree fall on our car over night the hood, front windscreen and roof got damaged, our car was only 2 years old out of the shop brand new . It was a pretty big job and jack made it seem like he could get our car back to a two year old new car. Now I will say the paint is not easy to bland so he did a great job on that... now as for communication and keeping us up to date, it was extremely poor. We had to reach out to find out what was going on. I would have to stop by just to get a clear up date and as I stoped by each time I had to point out damages and other things what we already explained to him that needed repairing that came from the tree, from scratch's along the car to the mirror covers all the way to the rubber seals and plastic covers that go between the bottom of the front windscreen and the hood of the car. These are very big and noticeable things and I had to continuously point out that the insurance covered all these things to be replaced brand new and he was trying to get by with using the same damaged an out of shape also discolored plastic coverings " the discoloration came from the removal and putting back via the plastic cover where you can see they had to band it in the middle and you see where it creased and turn white and to rubber seals that he removed and put back and this did not lay flat or fit snugly any more" and to this day he none of that has been replaced even though I bright it to his attention at least three times when I stopped in to get updates and see the progress of the car. Then it came to the inside of the car because he had to replace the interior roof... the plastic guards that go alone the corners of the interior did not sit snugged in like they should have I brought it to his, he would say he was going to fix it and not to worry... let's just say to this day this problem still sits and steers my wife and I in the face to this day. Because it became way to exhausting trying to get these basic things fixed like they should have with new parts on e he say that it needed in the first place from Jack.... This was all in 2022 now this is a 2020 Toyota Highlander and we work from home, haven't been in any accidents besides this one freak tree falling on it over night from some extremely high winds. I wash the car by hand my self so no car wash to possibly cause and wear and tear on this plastic and rubber external parts. Now hacks paid we pick up our car and I see that none of that has been replaced or fixed.... Now on to 2023 we start getting water leaking on the left passenger side we call jack and inform him he tells us to bring the car in. We ask him to keep up informed on what he finds to be the problem and to please take pictures and send us to we know what causing the it. Let's just say jack never called, texted or even took pictures to show us. He tells us our car is done we pick it up he is not very clear on what he fixed or what he did to fix it. But he said it was nothing big just a clip and it's good now...... Here we are now it's may/june 2024 and the right passenger side is randomly leaking water we call jack and he say oh really. You can bring it in and I will see what's going on. Now my wife stats to jack please take pictures and keep us informed on what you find and what you have to do as you go please. She comes back to the car and I ask where is Jack is he not coming out she aid no so I go in and ask jack to talk for a second. I ask jack very politely can you please take pictures of the problems that's causing the leaking and please let us know what you are doing as you go along, because you told us last year that you checked everything and it's all fixed and we don't have to worry, but yet here we are again..... he said ok I will don't worry I will take care of it. Now picked up our car on Friday June 28th after 5, jack wasn't there he said he can't wait he had to leave at 5 " now he called at 2:30/3 pm est to say the car willl be ready soon and he is only there till 5 so we have to be there before 5" now I was at work in silver springs area when he told us this which was now around 3 pm. so we all know DMv traffic. Now he told me if there is any problems just call him back.. now I get our car home and inspect it...... and here we go again. So i decided to take a look at the roof rail on the right side where he would have had to look at and see where the leaking was coming from only to find that the rubber seals the site between the cars roof and the top rails is completely stretched and are not sitting flushed to the car or the rails like it should and Jack did not mention any thing about this

I accidentally rammed my mirror into a concrete pole when backing my 2017 Mercedes CLA out of a parking spot at my local grocery store. The mirror was dangling and the door was pretty banged up. I was getting quotes for well over 3000 dollars, or people telling me that they couldn't get me in for weeks. Jack's got me in the day I called, I brought the car to him less than a week later, and despite my nervous constant calls asking how work was going, got it done in 3 days looking better than when I bought the car. I wish I had more stars to give. I never leave reviews, but I felt compelled in this case.

I went to Jack's my first time to paint my bumper and it was good but bumper paint lasted 2 years and half until it started flaking off but not going to complaint it was only $250. Tried Jack the second time. He repainted my Subaru STI door, quarter panel and fixed my cracked bumper/repaint and kept some of the original paint and blend it. Oem paint is good so no complaints he did a good job. If you have an issue the first time and let him know he will take care of it. Jacks prices probably the best around. I hope it will hold up!

This review is overdue, but in January 2019, we had a great experience working with Jack. Our car lost a fight with a pillar in a parking garage, and Jack was able to restore it to like-new condition at a fair price! The repair coincided with a trip we were on, but Jack was very accommodating with pre and post trip instructions and storage. While car repairs are never fun, Jack's will be the first place that comes to mind if we need these types of services again.

Job was Akins of rough and much more expensive than in other place...

Poor job and expensive compare to other around.... I paid 973.49 $ for this kind of poor job.... I did not know they are not looking for perfect job rather than the too much money. My car got little extra painted(white) in wrong place.which they could take care easily...but they did not care... Iam very upset that I paid too much for such a poor job.

Scrapes, dented, clear coat chipped off. Got it all back to normal!

Mechanics are honest, don't overcharge, and in my case, actually undercharged me the last time I was in. They only charged me for 1/2 an hour of work, $80, even though two different mechanics had looked at it multiple times to try to identify a slight rattling noise. They said it is not a safety issue, they will look again the next time I get an oil change, and if it gets worse they will be able to identify and fix it but as it isn't a safety issue they don't want me to put money in it unnecessarily at this time. They did let me know of some repairs I will need in the next year. I never feel like anyone there talks to me differently or charges me differently for being a woman, which is a stereotype you hear about mechanics (though honestly I've dealt with that more with HVAC techs, but I digress). When I dropped my car off on a thursday evening for a friday appointment, Rich called me back an hour later just to let me know he had looked at it already and didn't think it was anything to be concerned about but would do more work in the morning, which i really appreciated. When I was leaving after picking up my car I spoke to a woman who had been going here for, I think 15 years and said Rich takes great care of her antique car. The only other thing I'll add is the store has stickers on the door in support of gay rights and BLM, which you just don't see at mechanic shops, and I feel good about supporting a shop that supports my values. My assumption is the stickers signify all customers are welcome and will be treated fairly, which maybe isn't always the case in mostly straight white male-owned spaces.

My Audi Q7 broke down last week and was inoperable for six days. Ben took my call and kept me calm and focused while we tried to figure out what exactly was going on with my suv. After a few minutes on the phone we thought it was best to have it towed to the nearest shop a few miles away (by the way, this was an evening/after hours call). Ben helped get me a tow and offered to send me a car to be driven home. I opted to walk down the street to a local restaurant to take advantage of my stranded situation (that's an entirely different story). Back to my review. The next morning the Nielsen team helped me understand what was going on with my suv, the options available to me, and provided a detailed break down of the costs associated with the five years of neglect and work needed to be sone to my suv. The number was a big number but there is a cost associated with having skilled technicians on staff to do the work and do it right. I was ok with this and they were kind enough to work with me on the price. Through the entire process, Ben and his team kept me in the loop at all stages of the service, until my car suv was ready for pick up. I recommend anyone looking for a hard-working, honest team to service your car or SUV to look no further than Ben Nielsen at any of his locations. My wife and I often use one of their locations in Alexandria on Colvin street because it's closer to home, but when my Audi broke down, skyline became the best option. A year ago this happened with the Steering Gear Box, which started making a grinding noise as soon as I left the lot. I had to bring it back and pay for a new one. Today, I brought it in for a few minor issues and an inspection and oil change. I also asked them to look at the rear end because I was sometimes experiencing a light "clunk" when I would drive over bumps. They told me the rear differential was making that noise. It seemed odd to me that the rear differential would be the cause. So I told them it was not a big enough issue at the moment to justify $3,000 for a new rear differential. The term "honest auto mechanic" is usually an oxymoron, as it's virtually impossible to find an…read more"honest auto mechanic" these days. So-called, "ASE certified mechanics" at the STEAL-erships are more part replacers rather than, technicians. These "mechanics" just take their fancy tablets/scan tools, and after plugging into your car's ODB port, spout off some diagnostic codes with parts to replace leading to hundreds if not thousands of dollars in "repairs." Thanks to Yelp and always trusted Yelp friend, Hannah H, I was guided to Hillbrook Automotive several years ago and have been coming ever since. The owner, Mr. Choi, is well-known in the Korean community for being an experienced mechanic, and more importantly HONEST when it comes to your auto repair needs. While Hillbrook Automotive' s clientele may be predominately Korean, over the years I've been coming here, I've noticed folks from all races, creeds, and socio-economic classes take their vehicles to be serviced by Mr. Choi and his team of skilled mechanics. A sure sign that of a garage does honest and good work, is (1). How busy it is and (2). the type of cars they work on. At Hillbrooke, I've seen not only the more common Hondas, Toyotas, etc. being worked on, but it's not uncommon to find higher-end vehicles like Mercedes, BMWs, Lexus, Acuras, in the garage bays. If folks with these high dollar vehicles come to Mr. Choi for service, that speaks VOLUMES. I've even witnessed a few times where people who live in MD will have their cars TOWED here, because they know Mr. Choi will do good work and at a fair price. According to a 2023 report from credit agency Experian (https://www.nerdwallet.com/article/loans/auto-loans/average-monthly-car-payment), the average car payment is $729 for a new vehicle and $528 for a used car...ouch! It's no wonder that many Americans are opting to keep their cars for longer and keep driving it, until the figurative "wheels fall off." My front brakes needed replacing, and just out of curiosity since I had one of those STEAL-ership coupons in the mail, I took my car to get a quote. After nearly spitting out the "free" coffee, I said thanks, but no thanks, and wouldn't you know that Mr. Choi was able to install new rotors and brakes pad for $700 cheaper than big-box STEAL-ership?!?! Just a few things to keep in mind if you take your vehicle here for service: * The parking lot is small (since there is also a gas station here). So after pulling in and finding a parking spot, look for or ask for Mr. Choi. Provide him with a brief description of work you need, and he'll take your phone number to call you after diagnosing the issue. Note: It can be very chaotic in the morning during peak drop off time, and also don't be surprised if you have to wait some time to speak with Mr. Choi. He'll be easy to spot since all the staff wear name tags, and he'll be the older Korean gentleman that everyone will be congregating around. * You will likely need someone to drop off / pickup while your car is being serviced. There isn't a "waiting room," per se. There are a few chairs inside where the cashier is located, and a small uncomfortable bench. But you aren't really going to want to wait there for a few hours, if possible. * I HIGHLY recommend getting there before 9am. After a certain time (usually around 12pm noon), depending on the complexity of the repair, you will likely have to leave your car over night, or Mr. Choi will ask you to bring your car back the next day. Not that Hillbrook Automotive needs any more 5 star reviews, but I'm so thankful that Mr. Choi and team have extended the longevity of my car well north of 100K miles. I know at some point, I'll need to get a newer vehicle, but until then, I'll only bring my car here when it needs service.
