VM Autobody Two years ago, after an automobile detailer unknowingly burnished the top of my 2009 Tacoma, I went to VM Autobody on Duke Street in Alexandria, Virginia. I got an estimate that seemed reasonable, agreed to having just the exterior top of the cab repainted, and within the time promised the truck was back, looking great. It still looks great. This year rust started to eat away at the hood of the Tacoma, so given my positive experience with VM in the past I went back. Once again, the price was fair, the time needed was agreed to, and the finished hood looks great. The work was professional, there were no unpleasant surprises, and I'm very happy with the results. I'm pushing 70 and I hope to never buy another vehicle - I know I'll never find a Tacoma that is as reliable as mine. There is a reason that VM Auto Body has many FIVE star reviews; and that's simply because they are the best in their industry. I first used VM back in 2022 when my car was involved in a "hit and run" in a parking lot and after the first fabulous encounter, I've referred them to at least 10 other folks, and all of them have raved about their experience. I, unfortunately, had the occaision to once again call upon the expert services of VM Auto body. Without getting into the details (since my incident is still under investigation), I was recently driving in DC when I was involved in a collision. My car came out on the "losing end" with the driver's side mirror, wheel well, fender, door, and headlight sustaining major damage. After contacting my insurance, they referred to me one of their "preferred shops." When I contacted said auto body shop (which will remain anonymous), they mentioned they were "so busy," it would be 2 weeks before they could in-take my vehicle. I wasn't crazy about that response time; plus their reviews on Yelp are quite mediocre...which runs contrary to their Google reviews. Not thrilled with the prospect of being without "street legal" transportation or having to pay out of pocket for a rental car, I contact VM, and of course, they provided superior service! The office manager, Kim, was quick to respond on the phone and told me VM could in-take me that day...not two weeks. When I dropped off the car, I filled out their processing form with the insurance info (contact information with phone numbers is always helpful), and she mentioned VM would take care of interfacing with the insurance company. How easy is that? The longest part of the ordeal was waiting for my insurance to perform their estimate, since VM is not a "preferred vendor." But once the estimate was completed and approved, it was a short 2 DAYS for the VM to complete the work. And as is their general practice, the interior of the car got a "mini-detail," with a full vacuum and surfaces wiped down. In addition to the body work, during the estimate process, it was also determined my vehicle would require an alignment, which VM also handled since they also perform mechanical work on cars, such as brakes, oil changes, etc. As for the costs of the repairs, let's just say the ACTUAL FINAL total amount was lower than what the insurance company's "perferred shop" quoted me over the phone. Best auto shop around. I always take all my cars here and refer friends and family. They always do the fastest and best job. Other shops took over a month repairing my car and VM auto body will have the same work corrected and fixed in a week or 2 at most. They also provide rentals and have shown me things on my car that were fixed improperly by other shops. The only shop I go to now. read more

I messaged the shop on Yelp to get a quote to fix a dent in my back door and it was HALF the price of the other quotes I received. So I'd say the pricing is more than fair. Not only did I have a dent, but I had the aftermath damage of a parking lot "mobile dent repair" scammer surrounding the dent as well. I've got to hand it to Kimberly and Vihelmo, they successfully exceeded my expectations. Here's the deal, I walk in seeking an estimate that I'd pay for cosmetic body work (usual street parking dings and scratches accumulated over several years). Kimberly's customer service is discrete and professional. She coordinated for the owner, Vihelmo, to provide what I thought was a very reasonable out-the-door estimate. This estimate was the same that I paid when all work was complete 5-days later. The body / paint / polish work and exterior / interior detail are excellent. The vehicle looks outstanding and what impressed me most is that the team took it upon themselves to even buff out my hazy headlights. Didn't ask them too, they took it of their own professional standards and also provided it complimentary. They are obviously very proud of their work, their work ethic in my opinion is above reproach and I am beyond impressed and satisfied. My old car failed the annual safety inspection due to a rusted floor panel near the right rear door. I reached out to several places and VM Auto Body was one of two places that said they could do the work. They didn't have space when I stopped by, so I arranged to drop the car off a couple days later so they could get it up on a lift and get a proper estimate of the work to be done. Kimberly was very understanding and helpful. In the meantime, I stopped by another place and was quoted $600-800 based on the picture and description I provided. They put it up on the lift while I was there and told me they'd send me an estimate in the next couple days. I was floored to get a written estimate from them (the other shop) for $3.3k+! I returned to VM Auto Body and dropped my car off overnight. Kimberly got back to me with a couple of options, and I chose the "fix it right" option. They took a few days to do the work because they had to remove the fuel tank, drive axle, catalytic converter, and fuel lines, as well as cut out a good size chunk of the floor panel and replace it. When they were done, I drove it straight to the inspection station and passed with no issues. And, the best part - it was half the price of the other place at under $1.7k. Oh! And they gave the car a good cleaning inside and out! Unexpected perk but it made the 22yo car look and feel young again! TL;DR - Kimberly was great (understanding, sympathetic, accommodating), they did good work, and they were half the price of a nearby body shop. I definitely recommend. read more

SO glad I found VM Auto Body. I had some deep scratches on my bumper as well as on the door of the driver side that I really wanted fixed. I had been putting it off but finally went ahead and got it done this past week. Kimberly replied pretty fast when I reached out asking about quote ranges after showing pictures of the scratches. I then came in the same day for them to take a look at it and give me a more accurate quote. VM Auto Body quoted me significantly less than other body shops I had consulted with. Not only that, but they were super responsive throughout the whole process and got it done within 2-3 days. I took my Lexus to VM due to fantastic reviews. When I went to pick it up the first time there were a few bubbles in the paint. My experience tells me this can happen at any body shop.
