Christmas Tree

Very smooth experience. All trees had price listed on them. We picked a beautiful tree and were assisted right away by Jonathan who's one of the owners. Very happy with our beautiful tree! We will return next year.

I absolutely am in that with my Flocked Christmas Tree!

I woke up this morning (it's a beautiful Sunday in Miami as I write this) and thought, "it's time…read moreto go plant shopping." After countless mornings waking up in a bedroom lacking greenery, I googled best plant shops in Miami. Many of the newer more popular stores came up but then so did Galloway Farm Nursery. For as long as I can remember, this nursery has been around and therefore I stuck with the tried and true. Perhaps it was the sense of familiarity that ultimately drew me to Galloway--a welcoming, unstuffy, old faithful that made me feel confident to plant shop despite my shortcomings with plants themselves. But when I got there, I quickly realized that the comfort I felt walking in was solidified by the assistance I received. Eavesdropping on another customer and team member, I could hear that the gentleman assisting was well versed in all things plants. I mean, one would hope that is the case, but you never know these days. If you're like me, sometimes you have trouble asking for help. But I wanted a big plant, damnit! And there was no way I would be able to physically lift the one I wanted on my own. After mustering up the courage to ask for help, I got so much more than that. I got information, I got recommendations, I got educated, and I even got help re-potting my plant. I'm not sure this is a regular service offered, however because it was very slow when I went the person was glad to help me. All of that being said, I left with the perfect low-light plants for my home for an unbeatable price. They even helped me put it in my truck. The value here is totally worth it. And then I realized....how the hell am I going to get these inside my house alone? LOL! Practical things to note: ample parking available, deliciously cool orchid room for those unbearably hot days, lots of cute cats hanging around. Galloway Farm Nursery is a must-try!

After going on a butterfly hike in a local park and learning about various plants that attract…read morehumming birds and butterflies, I sought out a nursery that stocked plants like I wanted. After reading great reviews, I decided to pay Richard Lyons Nursery a visit and was glad I did. The property is a little tricky to find and from the street doesn't look that big, but once you enter, you will see the outside looks are deceiving. This place is packed with all sorts of ornamentals, fruit trees and other types of plants. After choosing several plants and having the sales ticket written up, I was very pleasantly surprised to see that it was only $40. Had I gone to another place in Kendall or a major retailer, I would have paid much more. I will definitely be back for more.

This isn't just a great nursery, they also have an amazing variety of mature rare specimen plants…read moreand trees. They have groves also which include jackfruit. We first discovered Lyons in our search for rare Atala butterflies to augment the population at our house... the folks at Montgomery botanical center had recently brought a population of Atala caterpillars to feed on Lyons sizable coontie selection. We were lucky to get a coontie with freshly laid eggs... that was in late September, and they emerged from their cocoons today (late October). They have a wonderful selection of butterfly larval and nectar plants. They have both local and exotic plants also including bamboo, heliconia, and more. When you arrive, park a short way in... a siren will announce your presence, and you'll soon be met by a guide in a golf cart. We've been four times so far, and each time we go we've discovered a new area, and new plants. As you wander around, make sure you look at the amazing mature specimens that dot the property.... such an amazing variety... it rivals a botanical garden!
