NOTE: This review is for their coffee/espresso side of the business within Jack's Liquor.
I asked a few locals where I could get a good, quality espresso and was told to try Java Jacks, a new coffee spot that is part of Jack's Liquor (which, yes, I had already hit up the liquor store before to get some much-needed beverages).. this portion of the business is in the same building, just slightly separated.
I went in 7am this morning and the nice girl behind the counter served me a well-prepared (I could watch all her steps) espresso, namely an Americano.. which I have recently started drinking with a dash of cinnamon instead of my lattes... mostly because of my milk/soy side-effects (I won't elaborate) - Presto! A very fine-tasting, complex roasted, enjoyable Americano of which my light touch of honey made it such a treat for just a Wednesday morning.
Pay cash with the gal or you can walk over to Jack's side and pay with card.
Another plus:
- They use Kaladi Brother's Coffee, a roasting company out of Anchorage, which, after having 2 cups of their brand at two different coffee spots, I am a huge fan and am now looking to take some home with me!
- Their hot-breakfast Egg/Bacon/Cheese on English Muffin for $4 and change was impressively tasty. The eggs were a REAL whole egg and not a scrambled mess and the bacon was REAL and not some microwaved chewy mess.. the cheese I could've done without, but we already know why :)
I'm impressed with the quality flavor of the coffee in this little un-assuming liquor-store-cum-espresso-shop... and also delighted that they have a tasty breakfast option in case I'm running late to work. Will definitely come back!! read more
