I called 10 different locksmiths before calling Jack's lock and key and I wish I wouldn't called them first. The nice lady was the only one within 30 miles with the right blanks for my Yamaha FZ 07 motorcycle. The store was bigger than expected and organized. I lost my only motorcycle key so I couldn't make a copy but Jack's lock was able to reverse cut me a key right from my ignition and seat lock I provided them. All of this was done within an hour. Pretty straight forward business. All I needed was a "laser cut" duplicate master key with no transponder/remote for an old model Lexus. I had two choices: 1.) Driving 10 miles to the Longo Lexus Dealer for a duplicate key using a genuine blank for $49.95 +tax. or 2.) Driving 2 miles to Jack's Lock & Key for a duplicate key using an aftermarket blank for $45.00 +tax. Hmmmm. Well, it was really hot on that Saturday afternoon and I didn't feel like driving that far to the Lexus Dealer anyway. I gave my key and it was all said and done in a little less than 10 minutes. The price wasn't really a bargain but the price was fair because there wasn't another place in town that was able to "laser cut" my Lexus key. The location and driving distance of the place was convenient for me. So because of the fast service and store location, I give it 4/5 stars. read more

I was dogsitting for someone and their door was extremely hard to lock and I ended up bending the key and it was my only copy. So I took it to the little shack in the HK2 plaza that copies keys. The lady looked at my key, broke it in half and said she couldn't fix it. Went to Lowe's and they couldn't do it either so they suggested that we come here. The lady behind the counter didn't say much, not the best customer service but I didn't care at this point. I was just hoping to get a copy of the key and she actually was able to copy the broken key, no problem. It was $2 but gave her $3 because she literally saved my life. My family moved into this neighborhood in 1992 and we've been going to JLK since then. i've moved to different cities but always come back to Jack's when I want it done right the first time. I recently locked myself out of my house & called Jack's for service. Quoted $75 for service, I was content & eager to get back into my house. Due to my transgression, I did not realize that I possessed a key which was capable of opening the entry to my garage door. No service was required, door opened immediately. I asked if I was still required to pay the $75 as quoted, & the locksmith confirmed my obligation. I kept my end of the bargain & paid, but in retrospect I felt like I had been duped. My girlfriend called on my behalf to try & get a refund or charge reduction, which fell on deaf ears! Again, I am completely at fault, but this company is completely "Money Hungry" with no empathy for its clientele. They were less than 2 miles away from my residence & I would have been ecstatic to pay half or meet at a "happy medium". DO NOT support this business, they are crooks! read more

Called to get a key made for our car. The rude lady took our address and estimated an hour for the technician to arrive. After waiting an hour and a half I called back to see if they were close. The same lady answered and informed me that the technician that could make that key was not working today. Had to start over with our search. Very unprofessional and defiantly not reliable. They may be good at making keys, but after dealing with their customer service I will never know. Will never call again. read more

Walt F I ask the owner how much to come out and fix my lock she said $50.00 and when they could come out to my house she said that it would be tues July 1,2015 around 11:00. At around 12:00 no phone call so I called they said it would have to be July 2, 2015 Around 1:00 at 1:45 no phone call so I called them they said 20 minutes they finally showed up at 2:45 then I didn't ask them if it would be more money I just thought that it was $50.00 so when he was done then he said it was a total of $150.00 and 59.00 for parts. make sure you ask how much before they start. read more

I don't usually write reviews or even use yelp much. but my experience with one of their representatives over the phone agitated me enough to write this review. i was perfectly polite and all I had was basic questions about making a key and a new lock and all i got in return was what I can only describe as one of the worst attitudes a employee has ever given a customer. part of owning a small mom/pop establishment like this is you have that better customer service and more attentive to the customers needs, which this lady had none of. my opinion is avoid this place and just go to lowes or something. read more

I went here because it's a half mile from my house even though it got bad reviews. I saw the lady that some people have been complaining about. She greeted me when I walked in and she duplicated my key lightning quick. I'm not sure what people were complaining about. Ok so she's not the warm fuzzy type of personality but I found her to be generally nice and very professional. And the most important thing she got the key made quick. I mentioned to her about some of the complaints she was getting on Yelp and I can see she was genuinely hurt by them. So maybe she rubs some people the wrong way but I think she's pretty cool. Anyways I came here to have my key duplicated and she did a great job. That's all that matters. read more

I am apartment owner who fequently have keys made when tenants leave. Since my apartments are at Long Beach I have a regular locksmith to do my re-keying. I have to change a clock on a saturday and I thought it be convenient to change at the nearby neighborhood. I went to Jack's. After re-keying my lock I asked if the lock would open my master key. This guy helping me that can he reads my mind what I want to do. Granted it was my mistake and willing to pay he told me that it would cost me xtra to re-key to master key. This is rude (period). Moreover, I typically pay $15 to re-key with master key, he charged $40. This is an outrage price. Never go back again. read more
