There is no such thing as "one size fits all," educators be damned. Cookie cutter homogeny is not what I am looking for. Sonja, the owner of Demco and one of the trainers, customizes my workout to me, my size, and what I need to be fit. She isn't judgmental, shunning "silver sneaker" exercises in spite of my age. Sonja gets that 99% of us older cats still want lean muscle mass and strength. Sure balance and flexibility are important, and we do some innovative work on these two vital aspects of physical fitness. Yet, there is no condensation, her workout also develops my body. I am beginning to look and feel better. Sonja knows her stuff, and she is a unique professional, existing amongst a forest of trainers who can only follow a prescribed text, chapter by chapter.

She encourages me, while at the same time holding me accountable to my commitments. The positive environment creates a space where I can get personal attention and the best individualized work out for my personal needs. I work out consistently now because Sonja pushes me to reach goals I did not even know I could reach! Somehow, she makes it fun to work and push myself harder than I think I can. I cannot recommend her enough!

However, most of the machines at this gym have more than one mode (i.e. Different workouts). There's a lot of place to do some cross fit stuff if that's what you're into. Guest pass costs $10/day. I like going to this gym because it's open 24/7 so I can come in whenever I want. Most gyms in the Seattle area close by the time I want to start a workout. I don't like to rush a workout so being opened 24/7 is a plus. Membership is capped at around ~500 members and it's never super busy compared to an la fitness or 24hr. At most, I've waited 5 minute for a bench or squat rack. However, if you're a beginner this gym might not be right for you. If you do like this gym, I suggest getting a personal trainer. I don't have one but they seem really helpful towards their Cilent and I can see a difference. Plus -huge space -open 24/7 -relatively new equipment -capped membership; not super busy during rush hour -certain classes are free Not so great -limited equipment selection -not the best place for a beginner

They will go out of their way to make you feel unwelcomed, and given that this is a small gym it makes the problem even worse. If no issue ever come up during your time here and you only visit when no staff is on duty, great, but if something ever come up, you'll find that nobody is willing to help and instead will angrily accuse you of sabotaging their business.

I started going to the gym (another gym) earlier this year but I didn't know what I was doing and would just go around the gym trying different machines. Then I switched to pro fit and saw results immediately. I saw more progress in one month with pro fit than the previous 3-4 months at the other gym! And I'm not even exaggerating. I love that they would put up a workout on the board for me each time I come in and would try to squeeze me in when I couldn't make my usual time. Everyone was really friendly and would greet me each time I went in, and I was pleasantly surprised that all the trainers learned my name. I worked mostly with Chris and he was amazing! I I remember I could not run for more than 2 miles comfortably right before joining pro fit, and three months after, I can comfortably run 6-7 miles and broke my personal record again and again without intentionally trying to improve my running stats. I'm training for a half marathon, and that to me three months ago was unimaginable. They also have a body scale that breaks down your muscle mass and fat mass by arms/legs/etc, which has been really helpful in tracking progress. I had the silver package for three months and they are not cheap. But I'm still very glad that I tried them out and imo it was a small price to pay to get into better shape and more importantly develop habits that will help me with my workouts in the future!! 100/10 would recommend - I wish I could give them more than 5 stars

So bad it is as if half the patrons have never heard of deodorant in their entire lives. I get that it's not nice to tell your customers to make themselves not smell like death, but it also isn't nice to have your customers work out in stench so pervasive that you could cut through the haze in the air with a knife. Not the gyms fault that its clients have no sense of hygiene, but it is their fault for not telling them they smell like ass.

Every instructor has been welcoming, highly competent, and teaches you something new. I was able to quit all my other physical activities and stay in pretty great shape just coming here, despite my terrible dietary habits. Even the virtual workouts the team put together during the worst months of the COVID shutdown kept me fit, and probably kept me sane as well. Gym culture is key in a martial arts gym and I can tell you that everyone here is helpful, friendly, and willing to challenge you in a way that is respectful and builds you up without ever being uncomfortable or risky. There can also be some variation depending on who you work with for partner drills, especially when the class is full, but having been both a total rookie and a veteran I can tell you there is always something to work on - technique, speed, power, adjusting for reach etc. The key is coming back, working with someone new, and continuing to improve. Instructors will make extra time for you when you are new. Be aware that this is a gym and there is definitely seasonality - early spring it can get full, early fall there tends to be a lot of new members, many of whom are new to Seattle (I assume recent grads). That said, the instructors do a good job adjusting the class depending on average skill level and space available.
