I had dropped off my taxes later in the season than I had wanted, so they said they would file an extension. Great! I wasn't in a hurry. I called to ask for an update a few days after tax day. Just an update to make sure things didn't get lost. I wasn't not in a hurry but I do like to make sure I'm still on the books. Office staff again was accommodating and pleasant and said she would talk with Tom and leave him a note. Sounded good to me! I get a call from Tom a few minutes later and he's short with me, asking me questions, cutting me off, and is downright rude. I'm not in the habit of letting anyone talk down to me, especially when I provided all the paperwork necessary, along with an extensive excel sheet with totals clearly labeled. He wanted me to access the same spreadsheet and read him all the same information he was holding in his hands. It seems like his first reaction is to get frustrated and angry, which doesn't make sense to display to a paying customer. Our second phone call resulted in swearing. Look, when you're in a professional setting and you don't know the person on the other end of the phone, professionalism should be the default. Not only this but he called my job a hobby. He can take his opinions and shove them because I will not be returning. He seems to have a patience issue that he needs to work on. Therapy can be very helpful for this.

While I'm happy that they adjusted the invoice, the communication from their office left a lot to be desired. I received an email to tell me that we were missing signatures on our e-doc returns when I had already emailed to confirm that everything was ready to go and to be filed. At the same time they told me that my taxes were not filed because I had not paid the invoice which was sent to me 16 hours ago. At no time that I know that the invoice needed to be paid upon an email receipt. I went directly to the office to pay the invoice on the spot and no one could tell me what signatures were missing. To be safe, I brought all of the original documents, including her 2023 and 2024 tax returns, along with all of her original 1099s and income forms for this year's 2025 taxes. They had our documents for an entire month. Every time we called for an update, we were given a different excuse--first that they were still working on them, then that the documents had been shredded, and then that they had been given to someone else. Eventually, we were told they were ready for pickup. When we picked them up, we were charged a "discounted" price of $210 for someone who only lived for three months of 2025. That was more than they charged her for a full year of taxes last year. On top of that, none of our original documents were returned. When I called to ask about them, I was told they would look into it. To make a long story short, we were lied to multiple times--our original tax documents had been shredded. I have no idea what documents we might need in the future, and now they're gone. The level of incompetence and dishonesty throughout this process is unbelievable. Being told personally that the service would be free, only for that to be denied after the fact, is especially frustrating. Be very careful where you go and who you trust with your original documents.

I even switched for H&R Block last year to Jackson Hewitt and was supposed to get a hundred off and was told by the General manager RAY MIHTAR that I don't get it.
