It was chill enough for them to enjoy the ride. Just make sure to pack water for them since there is no shade on the river. It was an easy ride to the lot where the crew was already waiting to take us to the launch point. It was an epic 3 hours with stunning views, interesting stories and wildlife spotting (mostly bald eagles). Plus you can bring your own...ahem..refreshments. At the end of the float, the van was already waiting for us and we were back on our way quickly. The logistics were flawless. He was informative and the boat held some great discussions throughout the trip, which makes it more enjoyable. I was imagining more rapids, but there was a lot more slow parts of the river. The big Kahuna was the one rapid that managed to get everyone except our guide wet. They were taking pictures there which you can purchase online or go to their shop and buy them for 20% off. We even thread the needle towards the end between a couple large rocks. It's worth doing a small 8 person boat. I'd even go in May or June to get more rapids because going at the beginning of August the water flow slows way down losing some of the rapids. They do offer water jackets you can put on under the life vest when you get there. The water was cool but not cold enough to need a wetsuit in August unless you can't handle cool temps. They do offer all that when you Check-in to rent too. If you have young kid, 4th grade or older they let them sit at the head of the boat. They have to be strong enough to hold on going over the rapids.

Riding through the beautiful scenery with the Tetons in the background made for a truly memorable experience. One thing to keep in mind is that you're sharing the area with wildlife. We kept an eye out for bison during our ride, and just a couple of days later I saw a video of someone being attacked by a bison in the area. It's a good reminder to respect wildlife, keep your distance, and follow your guide's instructions. An unforgettable adventure with a great team. Highly recommended.

When the friend had to cancel his reservation, he had someone call GFA. Sadly, GFA cancelled his reservation as well as mine, though I wasn't asked or told about this. So I showed up and was told that my float was cancelled! On short notice they found a guide and I fished a half day. A $300 refund was given. We had an abbreviated day of fishing. All good, and the fishing was good. But my trip should never have been cancelled by GFA without confirming with me.

First, he has been guiding on the Snake for 20+ years which was obvious by his knowledge of the river. Secondly, he does not have a outfitter shop so his rates are the lowest I have researched in the Jackson Hole area. Lastly, he is very personable and a great instructor. We both would highly recommend him and we plan on engaging him on our next trip next year. If you are a beginner or expert dry fly fisherman, you won't be disappointed.
