The building is on…read morethe newer side, well-stocked with travel brochures for both Jackson Hole and Yellowstone, has clean restrooms, and is close to the free community parking lot. A special shout out though for the staff member at the counter who was phenomenal in his advice for things to do (and not do) in Jackson Hold, Grand Teton, and Yellowstone -- some of which were hidden treasures that seemed to have been customized to the interests of the specific visitors. (Sorry, we forgot his name but he has been living in the Jackson Hole area for about 7 years, originally from Wisconsin). For instance, he suggested areas where we might find wildlife, and we did indeed see pronghorn antelopes, elk, and herds of bison. And, at his advice, we took Lake Butte Road up to an overview to get a stunning view of Lake Yellowstone in late afternoon. While there, everyone atop was abuzz with the news that traffic was currently delayed by rangers a few miles ahead to allow a grizzly bear to cross the road. (We did see the bear but it but were too far away for a photo).

It's a reminder of the importance of protecting these spaces so future generations can enjoy them. A must-visit when in Jackson Hole. The elk are corralled here to protect them from getting hit by cars. During the winter they are…read moregiven nutrient rich pellets. The antlers are picked up & sold to pay for pellets. We did not see elk during our June visit. They're at the refuge from mid-December through early April when they begin migrating. They move toward their summer ranges, following the receding snow line up to higher elevations in Grand Teton National Park & the Bridger Teton National Forest. From October through December, deepening snow cause the elk to seek food and shelter at these lower elevations in Jackson Hole.

It is so weird especially since we are middle aged adults w our child. He did not check the lady w 2 bags. Annoying!! I don't know what his issue was The popcorn was eh. Nothing to write home about. The JH Cinema (aka Twin Cinema) is a great spot for enjoying flicks. It features state-of-the-art, all-digital projection systems and giant, wall-to-wall screens for a perfect (big) picture. The place claims on their website to have the "world's best popcorn" with real butter. Located conveniently just 3.5 blocks from the Town Square at the corner of Pearl and Jackson Streets, I have to give the JH Cinema the vaunted 5 YELP STARS for just being there in case of need. And also running first-run movies right when they come out & offering discounted matinee pricing. (see photos)

The cashier was incredibly knowledgeable about the fossils and minerals they had in store. Although they were a little bit expensive, their selection was breathtaking. Comfy chairs, would be better if the chairs didn't force you to sit so upright, but a fantastic break after walking around downtown. It's a busy Broadway street and lots of cars going by. The Chambers is closed, but they do make it inviting to come and sit a spell.
