Came here for the Joseph show while visiting Jackson Hole for a few days. We did not get dinner, we went elsewhere for that. We arrived early to get some entertainment while sitting at the bar and having a drink. Our bartending all the staff sing and perform, and are part of the show. The baristas very nice and engaging. He went to theater school in Ohio, just north of OSU. Wasn't expecting much for the show but I was wrong, it was a great show. It was an old western version of Bible story of Joseph. The playhouse is such a fun experience! The venue is easy to get into and the staff really cares! I had the ramen that was good. The staff show you to your seat in the dining area, serve and sing during the meal. Once everyone is finished they walk you into the theater and perform. We were there for them doing a production of Clue. The actors were phenomenal and the whole production went exceptionally. I have mobility issues and they went out of their way to ensure I was accommodated without me ever asking for help. Things like do not go unnoticed. Thank for a wonderful evening! read more

This establishment has created some kind of special magic, in having trained performers do the dinner service as well. It's a happy upbeat experience from start to finish -- which is refreshing in today's world of everyone hurrying around and being on devices. Beyond the dinner, the show itself was fun. This establishment is located downtown with street parking and a parking lot down the street. The performers were very talented and provided good entertainment. I sat near the piano which made it very difficult to understand the performance, even though they were wearing microphones. If I were to return, I would make sure to sit on the other side. read more

This was a truly wonderful experience. The Jackson Hole Playhouse popped up in my research, but I had no idea what it was. So I'll tell y'all what it is. It's an entire evening of fun, entertainment, and outSTANDING food. The Playhouse is a whole night of dinner theater. I'll be honest, it's not cheap. But it is so much fun, and I believe it's worth every penny. The servers during the dinner portion are also the actors and actresses from the theater show. After a delicious dinner, you move to another room where there's a little pre-show performance. Then you enter the main theater for the main show. Our show was The Ballad of Cat Ballou. The performers were all great, and several were truly spectacular. Prior to this show I was completely unfamiliar with the story. There was romance, drama, and a whole lotta laughs. It was great. The entire evening was several hours, and it was the best night we spent in Jackson. Also- We had such an amazing time, I forgot an item I'd purchased before dinner. Fortunately, I was able to get ahold of the owner and she helped us get it back. She was incredibly nice and understanding about it too. read more

Staying in Jackson Hole for 2 days . What a great Western town. Love the authenticity of the playhouse. Watching their Prime time show "Oklahoma " . The cast had a preview before the main event. They were great. There's popcorn drinks cocktail in the lobby which decorated with western things. Concierge was so nice. Nicole was so helpful. Ticket price is reasonable . It's a cute theatre, with lots of history. The performers are 100% into their roles and give the best performance they can. There is a concession area like at your local theatre where you can get popcorn, drinks, etc. That's the good news. Now, the rest of the story...IF you go, do not choose a seat on the far right or left. These are old, uncomfortable and crammed so close that there is no leg room for someone like me who is 6'. In addition, if you sit on that right side like we did, close to the stage, the piano player is so enthusiastic (LOUD!) you can't hear any lyrics by the singers. (We moved after the intermission to open seats in the back left which were better!). Finally the show itself. It's cute, and vaguely resembles the movie (where Lee Marvin won an academy award). But it's campy, slow, and the songs occasionally interrupt the pacing (let alone we couldn't hear the lyrics so it was music with folks bouncing around the stage). We so wanted to like the show (we loved the movie). It didn't work for us, and left 15 mins after the show resumed after intermission. read more

We came here tonight on a lurch - no pun intended - and decided to buy tickets for the Halloween show, which was a parody of the Addams Family. Holy cow - what an unexpectedly fun night! The cast was super talented, as in great entertainers. The show was comedic kitshy by design, but that doesn't take away from the wonderful talent of the cast. The audience is involved at certain points in the show. I was fortunate in being among those called up, and had such a super fun time trying to keep up with the cast. The play was cute and the talent was good. The food was the worst we have ever had at any restaurant or venue and we go out a lot. We have never sent back a meal but my prime rib was one giant piece of fat and a bone. Not edible. My friend's prime rib could not be cut up- He tried 4 times. They replaced it with one halibut meal smothered in butter for us to share which was ok except that it was so greasy on the out side and so dry on the inside it was also inedible. MANY of the other patrons were also sending back meals. I am seriously allergic to cocoanut which I told them in advance and when they offer a free desert I asked if it was cocoanut free and made in house. The first waiter said yes but after more questions they told the truth and said it was outsourced and they did not know the ingredients. Glad I did not have to use my epi-pen Then it was time to pay... they did not charge for the halibut and took off a percentage of the prime rib but charged us twice for the 20% tip. They did the same thing to another patron. We always tip well at restaurants so when they informed us when we arrived that 20% was the tip we were ok with that Run!!! They are fleecing the tourists. So sad Their service was also extremely slow but I am alway ready to overlook that at a busy venue. I cannot give negative stars so one star is all I can do read more

We frequent shows in Island Park, and Salt Lake City area. We saw Cat Ballou. We did not care for it - at all. 1. the venue is 100+ years. That alone is fine, but over half the seats were ancient too, very uncomfortable, and springs or cushion missing. The center section had newer seats half way back. We changed to those seats at intermission. Also, the venue was 50% full on a Saturday in August. That might tell you something. 2. Sound - We sat 15 feet from the pianist. The actors mics were way to low for the over powering pianist (who was great). The sound system just seemed either not mixed well, or just off. 3. actors - some ok, some good - but if comparing to larger city venues and talent, very subpar. We have season passes to Tuachan and Hale Center. Comparing value to those, this should have been $20 at best. 4. Dinner - we didn't do it, but friends did and they said skip it - too much money for what you get. 5. Cool venue (part from the seating). Its a little quaint building with that old country vibe. My husband and I saw Oklahoma last year and loved it. We brought our kids along this time while staying in Jackson. The food was great, as our the actors. Great voices. It was a little harder to hear when they were not singing this time but as they are just starting for the season I'm sure that will get worked out. read more

The playhouse is amazing!!! I came solo and did the dinner and performance package of a Haunting Halloween. I was sat at the bar and Nathan was my server. He was very personable and great to talk to. I ordered the fried chicken, which was delicious!!. The show was amazing!! Very funny and the actors portrayed the Addams Family. To add further spookiness, the ambiance was very cool. The bar itself is decent, but the experience was awful. We were told to leave because our voices were 'too loud,' even though we were just talking at a normal volume. Apparently, they expect you to use 'library voices' if you want to stay. Not a place for anyone who actually wants to enjoy a conversation. read more

We opted for the dinner and theater show. You have the option of only seeing the show. The food was decent, nothing to tout. The performers are your wait staff and bartenders; so before the show while you're eating, guests are treated to some acapella songs. The actors and actresses are very talented. The show commences at 8pm. Dinner begins at 6, so it's a very long evening. Not sure I'd opt to do the dinner again. The show was entertaining. The performers were very good. Because the dinner was so long, the two-hour show that followed felt long. The theater seating is quite uncomfortable, which definitely takes away from the enjoyment of the show. I would definitely return to the theater to see another show though. It was a fun evening. read more

I have been to the Playhouse several times over the years, both just for the plays and for the special dinner theatre events. The acting and singing is always fantastic. And it's really fun to have this resource in town. However, after this last experience I doubt I will do the dinner theatre again. Not because the performance wasn't great. It was. But man is it expensive! They recently upped their dinner/theatre ticket prices from $100 to $115. So right off the bat that's a lot. They do tell you that gratuity is not included in that ticket price. What is less clear is that they will be adding an auto-gratuity on the *entire* price. So you're not just tipping on the price of the dinner and drinks, you're tipping on the price of the entire ticket, including whatever the performance itself costs. That's not usually how tipping on *service* is supposed to work. This all makes for a very expensive night and a rather shocking bill at the end of the evening. The drinks are very overpriced, and including tip even with two drinks you will add another $40 to your bill. Add in an up charge for a (not great) steak and an up charge for dessert (all with tip added automatically at the end) and you will very likely DOUBLE your $115 ticket price. That's all well and good as they are upfront that drinks will cost extra and that the tip will be added automatically. However, it doesn't diminish the shock you will feel at the end of the night. Forking over another $100 per person to settle up after already paying for some pretty pricey tickets. If I could offer a word of friendly advice to the Playhouse that would be to include tip into the price of the ticket. Even if that means increasing the price of the ticket to $150 or more, I think that would be a better experience for your patrons than hitting them with such a large bill at the end of the night. Of course, we'd still get a bill for add-ons, drinks, dessert, etc, and we would tip on those extras. But the tip for the dinner and show would already be settled in the original price of the ticket. That would feel a LOT better, in my opinion. Also, including one free drink with the ticket price (virgin or alcoholic) would also be a nice touch. Let us know the burden of the REAL ticket price up front. Don't shock us with a huge, negative surprise at the end of the night. It really just puts a damper on the entire experience. PS- to the lady here complaining about "gun violence" in Annie Get Your Gun. Maybe YOU should read the room. This is Wyoming. And the JH Playhouse literally performs the Town Square *shootout* every single day during the summer. They're playing the "Wild West." It's not going to turn your kids into school shooters, I promise you. Feel free to stay in your "big cities" if the thought of the pretend Wild West is too scary for you. read more

This was an amazing experience. This play didn't take itself too seriously, but this undoubtably made it better. It's not a stretch to say I've never laughed harder and my face literally hurts from smiling. This place is a joke. The actors are put in positions to be "managers" to disgruntled guests who have clear disputes because the manager won't do the right thing or be transparent. The actors have talent and try their best to put on a good show, however, the place really needs some attention! It's really too bad because the place has potential to be awesome, and they fall short on so many levels, mostly management. These actors need to find a place that will support their talent, because this place doesn't have any idea how to treat guests. Great play, we went for our date night and had a great time! Our favorite actress Sage Patchins stars as Millie and she does an amazing excellent job! She has a beautiful voice and acting presence, in fact the whole cast was excellent, we had the dinner also it was excellent I had the pork ribs & the lil woman got the Salmon very good. Come for the atmosphere and family-friendly fun. The building has been maintained with an old-timey Western theme. The service is lively because the performers are the wait staff. They are in full costume and sing a few tunes over the dinner hour. The food is good for a family restaurant. Don't expect Micheline star. These are hearty portions of meat and potatoes. Order your kids a Shirley Temple in a cowboy boot! Honestly, the 5 stars is for the show. One of the best local productions of Oklahoma I've ever seen. The evening started with our party of 6 being seated at a table that wobbled like a seesaw. I chose the $20 upgraded sirloin steak, medium. It came out rare, and they took it back. The new steak was maybe a flank steak served medium well. After much discussion with the manager, several items were reluctantly comped from our bill. As we moved into the theater, a row of 12+ seven-year-olds were seated behind us. Needless to say, it was a joke. The cast are also the servers and bartender and the even entertain and sing during dinner. They were very courteous and attentive. The show itself was so much fun. Paid $216 for two dinner and a show tickets on NYE. Got there, were one of the last groups seated despite being second in the door. We anticipated having to pay for alcohol and desserts which made sense as it was clearly stated it wasn't part of the ticket we bought. What threw us off and was disgusting was a $50 service charge that was added to our bill. So instead of paying $32 for the beers and desserts, we ended up at $98... disgusting rip off of money to end the year. So dinner and a show ended up costing us over $300 total, very much not worth it. I've been to the Playhouse 3 Christmases and now 1 NYE, I'll never be back though. My family and I went to Jackson Hole last summer on a family vacation. While we appreciate the outdoors, we are a theatre loving family often heading to big cities to see plays as our primary source of vacation. So imagine my delight when I discovered this charming playhouse - the best of both worlds! Buying the tickets was easy and we were excited to see Annie Get Your Gun (despite our proclivity to avoid anything related to guns) due to discoering some of the catchy songs we'd heard before but never seen performed. Walking up to the theatre we were so excited as its such a cute theatre and they have done a lot to enhance the historical experience. However, what ensued was awful. Annie Get Your Gun is full of gun violence, which admittedly we should have expected because its in the name, but we had hoped they would read the room of the culture landscape and not fire theatrical guns into a crowded theatre. Even worse than that was the flagrant racism of several of the characters and racial slurs used. I don't care if this was part of the original play. In 2023, edit it out or don't do the play. The play was triggering and we left at intermission. I was so disappointed about what could have been a memorable and lovely night out in Jackson Hole was so sullied by the selection of this play. Please do your research Jackson Hole Playhouse and consider your audience before putting on plays in the future. I am late to posting this review, but I think about how disappointing this experience was frequently so knew I needed to say something. read more

What an absolute blast. Great fun for the whole group. The cast are all super engaged and talented. The content is appropriate for all ages. The play is about 120 minutes long with an intermission at the halfway point. There's dancing, there's acting, there's comedy, and there's a lot of really great singing. Everyone in the cast seems to be having a wonderful time on stage and their enthusiasm is infectious. There's also a collection of snacks at the refreshment counter including a dynamite popcorn popped with coconut oil and topped with real butter. Seriously, try this popcorn. And they have bottled coke as well. They can accommodate large groups with prior notice and they serve both lunch and dinner. We had a group dinner before the show with great wait staff who sang and danced during the meal and above average entrees. I recommend the trout. read more

We did dinner and a show. Saw the 7 wives for 7 brothers production. I can't say enough good things. We were very impressed. The food was incredible our party got the salmon, scampi, and the short ribs. Everyone said how tasty and beautifully displayed everything was. The hall was very cute the way they set it up for dinner. Very western and fun. The show on the other hand took everything to an different level. We haven't laugh that hard in so long. There is so much talent on that stage. The story was so good, the singing, music and the acting was very impressive. It definitely surprised all of us. We stumbled upon this local jewel. We heard Bonanza music coming from this old timey saloon like building. We looked through the window and saw a lot of commotion going on and folks in custom. We asked the nice lady at the registered an about the place, it was a dinner and a show. We weren't particularly hungry, and curtain was in 35 minutes. We weren't sure what we wanted to do, so she said we were welcome to stay for the preshow! I don't know about anyone's else experience, but everyone just seemed super nice! We ended-up sharing a the pork loin dinner, which was fantastic! It's a family bar so they don't serve alcohol, but by the looks of it they have a cork service. We looked at the program, and the woman who is running the tickets and served us dinner is the owner, director, producer of the show! Curtain. .. I've been to my share of off off off Broadway shows/musicals and I've learned it's a gamble. Wow! It was an splendid well performed show! The cast was culturally diverse, all were skilled and talented! and brought the story alive. We loved this version of Paint Your Wagon! It's a true culturally poignant American story! read more

The performers are always great and we do dinner there annually when we visit and enjoy the singing/performing talent through the meal. They change it up every year and even if you've seen the same production from a few years ago, it's worth seeing again as they keep it fresh. Hilarious. We walked by with 8min before showtime and decided to buy tickets on a whim to Cat Ballou. Had zero expectations other than the interior looked fun and staff was friendly on the way in. Play was unbelievable - packed in a classic and intimate old theater, actors jumped out in the first act and were amazing. Voices were awesome, characters were funny and the story worked. Bought a few drinks and had to tell my girlfriend to be quiet because she was guffawing too loud. Will be telling friends they have to stop by next time they come through Jackson read more

We bought tickets for the show only but arrived 1.5 hours prior to show to have drinks only to find the place packed with people who paid for the dinner and show package which we wish we had done. There is a pre show at 7:30 and then you go into the showroom for the show.....THE SHOW IS AWESOME!!!!!! Everyone you saw up front at the bar and restaurant are in the play which makes it even better. Everyone is so talented and the show is just as good as any show we've seen on Broadway!! We laughed A LOT. The acting, singing and dancing was fantastic! And everyone we met was so welcoming and friendly. The show has an intermission and during this time they offer snacks at an old fashion snack bar and took orders for milkshakes. Would go back in a heart beat! read more
