FIVE STARS FOR APPLE CIDER SLUSH. I've been coming to Jackson's Orchard with my family for years and it is always something I look forward to in the fall, especially when we are looking to go to a pumpkin patch. I recently learned that it's open in the summer, too, and I was so excited to come and get my apple cider slush fix (and some fried apple and peach pies)!! The slush (and cider) is unlike any other. It's the perfect mix of sweet and sour, and no matter how hard I try I can't replicate it at home. The fried pies were a little undercooked and not as warm and toasty as I remember them being, but I'm guessing that they are better during the busy months when they have to make them fresh. There are bathrooms on-site, and lots of outdoor seating. There is a store to buy lots of jams and salsas and fresh produce. There is also a playground ($3 per person). During the fall fest there are always a lot of activities like a petting zoo and face painting, etc. Some may say it's a bit overpriced, but I love supporting this family owned orchard that has been a staple in the greater Bowling Green area for 50 years!! This place was an absolute gem! We decided to drive out from Nashville to see a little something different. And it did not disappoint. We went during their Apple fest of Labor Day weekend. About an hour after opening it wasn't crowded at all. By 11/12 they had traffic directors and it started filling it. Parking was free and admission was free which really opened up the opportunity to partake in so many of the extras they had to offer!! The kids loved the playground and there were so many beautiful photo oops set up around the grounds. We also really loved their treats! The Apple slushees and the fried pies were so good. Their peach ice cream was amazing. And they had a donut truck there this weekend that was super fun too. read more

This place is nuts. Came here on a Sunday afternoon to pick up some apples and some pumpkins before Halloween. It was a little bit of an uphill trek to get here. Thank goodness I wasn't trying to ride my bike here- I don't think I would have made it. This seems to be the go-to place for families with small children and, a great photo op for all of Kentucky's Instagram models/ I think we're calling them "influencers" now (?). It really felt like the entire population of Kentucky was here all at the same time. It gets overwhelmingly busy. Fortunately, they had some people directing traffic and parking. Parking was free. A little bit of a bummer that they don't allow pets, but I get it. There is just too much going on, I know my pup would be wildly overwhelmed. Once I parked and made my way over, I walked around to see all that they have to offer. There are lots of treats for immediate consumption, treats to take home, pumpkins and apples literally everywhere you look, some other local foods (sauerkraut, jams, preservatives, baked goods, candy, cider etc), some local vendors, some tractor rides, a petting zoo, and an entire play area for children. Since I don't have children and every little thing cost money that I didn't plan on spending, I went back to the shop, got a bushel of apples, a few pie pumpkins, some sauerkraut and some fresh apple bread before heading out. The service left MUCH to be desired. I too, would be annoyed with having to deal with so many people, but these ladies weren't even trying. I had to tell them twice that I was ready to check out while standing at the register with all my food laid out in front of them before they stopped talking and started to ring me up. If I wasn't so determined to get my apples and pumpkins that day, I would have just left. Everything I bought was delicious, but I'm not entirely convinced it was worth the trip. Next year I think I'll just stick to the farmer's market. read more

Great place to unplug with the family. Food is very reasonable and apple cider slushes are awesome!

We took our kids during the week, so the only activity available was the playground. The playground has a really cool set up, even our 16 yr old found some stuff to entertain herself. The treats are all reasonably priced and certainly worth the trip. We bought a couple mums and some goodies from their shop there, the cashier was quick and very nice. I really like the marinated mushrooms they have, there are a ton of things you wouldn't expect to see there that I am excited to try. read more

Highly recommend for families with small kids! We drove a little over an hour each way to visit the farm. It was an easy drive but still recommend bringing the ipads for the kids. We picked apples, great quality, orchard is clean and wagons are provided. Picking is free and it's $17 per bag picked. It was picked over but there were tons left you just have to look. Unfortunately I didn't see one single person wearing a mask inside. We got a couple baskets the store and headed out to the playground. The playground is awesome for little kids, they have chairs and shades areas. It's $4 for kids 4-21 and that includes petting area. They also have a nursery area with great looking plants. read more

WARNING: OWNERS ARE EXTREMELY RUDE and it trickles down over the whole establishment. We have visited Jackson's since my children were little but it has a horrible atmosphere lately and today I found out why. We were rushed along at each place (the store, concessions, the hay ride) and their staff of college students?? have very poor customer service skills and hardly smile. They are rude and do not seem to like children at all. The cashier in the store was shooing my children out of the store, the girl at the playground all but rolled her eyes at me when I asked about using a debit card, I was nickled and dimed to death!! There was supposed to be a "Pumpkin Festival" but there was nothing going on and at the end, I tried to alert management of the issues. It now has the atmosphere of a "has been carnival". The women I talked to about my experience literally yelled at me and told me that I was "rubbing her the wrong way". Then she started yelling at all the children on the playground that she didn't care if they thought she was rude, it was time to go home! And then, my neice was telling me something and the woman yelled at her not to be talking behind her back. Yelled, people. I was mortified! This is no joke. When I asked for her name she said, "I am a Jackson... I'm an owner. And there's Mr.Jackson right there!" And then he started yelling. I have never in my life!!!! There was no talking to these people, their behavior was unacceptable, and they will not have any more of our business! Mr. Jackson dared to say that I was, "Probably the type of person who has problems everywhere I go." He did not have any idea what was going on and immediately attacked my character in that way. He said this in front of my children who had never seen adults act in such a manner. They need to retire. They seem to hate the hassle this business is to their family. The atmosphere has deteriorated and there are plenty of other places to visit in town. read more

Went with my mom for a fun afternoon last Fall. She used a walker and got around well, although the bathrooms were a little rustic and not as usable for a senior citizen. We stayed near the main building because and bought a few things and enjoyed cider and ice cream. Good thing entry was free because what we bought wasn't cheap. The big draw to this place is there is free parking and entry, which isn't always the case with orchards. The major draw back is you get what you pay (or rather, don't pay) for. The canned and pre-prepared products are all nice, but their fresh stuff leaves much to be desired. My friends and I got several pumpkins from here, and half of them were totally rotten on the inside, which we only figured out after bringing them home and started to carve them. The place is very popular among locals, so it is usually quite crowded. We also came several hours before they closed, and their cafe wasn't open, which we had planned on partaking in, so that was disappointing. If you can, I'd go somewhere else. read more

Just returned from my first visit to this apple orchard. The food stand was out of barbecue but we made due with hot dogs and chips. The pumpkins, squash and plants were beautiful as were the surroundings. The hay ride to the apple orchard area was nice. The price of the ride included the corn maze, so that was a plus. I think because we were late in the season, options were limited but we were able to fill our bags. The hay ride driver and most attendants were very polite and courteous. However, I am giving a three star rating due to the young lady who checked me out at the gift store at the beginning of my visit. She was very short and rude in her manner and service. Perhaps the mask I wore with a YouTuber's slogan was not to her political taste. Regardless, I found her unprofessional manner distasteful and immature. Later, on the ride home, my daughter mentioned to me that she rolled her eyes at me when she reminded me I was taking the merchant receipt, which I quickly apologized for and returned to her. Overall, I did not find my gift shop experience with the staff there friendly. As this was the first interaction of the day, it somewhat tainted the experience. I love this place! My grandsons had a blast today, they loved the playground, slide, hayride and corn maze! They are 3 and 5 years old. This has been a yearly tradition for our family to visit, even when my daughter was little. We just went for apples and some pumpkins. They were packed but were well staffed to handle the traffic. Parking was easy. We picked up a few bags of apples (they had good variety) and some pumpkins for cooking and decoration. They also have an Apple Kitchen where they sell apple cider slushies, caramel apples, and other treats. Very reasonably priced shop for fresh local fruits. read more

I went to Jackson's Orchard for the first time last year. I'd heard great things about it from friends and was excited to experience a new pumpkin patch. My boyfriend and I went and I was shocked to discover they nickel and dime you for e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g. Paying for food and pumpkins - completely understandable. But they charge you to use the hay ride to the pumpkin patch! And you AREN'T allowed to walk there, forcing you to buy the hay ride. Parents with kids had to pay for the petting zoo, food to feed the animals, the playground - anything you can think of, they charged between $2-$4 for it. Seems like a complete rip off. My boyfriend and I went again this year with the sole purpose of taking a cute fall picture. We bought a large apple cider slushy to split (I will say it was delicious), but didn't buy anything else. Not even a pumpkin. We picked the perfect day to go. It was 83 degrees and not crowded at all, so we lucked out there, but I would prefer buying my pumpkins from Kroger than from here. Beautiful grounds but overrated. The bathroom lines were horrific, and the lines for food took 15 minutes. The pork sandwich was cold and the fried pies tasted like they had been cooked in old oil. Apparently at 4:00, they would not allow anymore hay rides, and you couldn't pick any apples. I am guessing because the line to wait for both was at least quarter of a mile long. Total waste of time and money for a bunch of standing around. Spend your precious Saturday or Sunday doing something else with your family. read more

I learned about Jackson's Orchard about 15 years ago. I have been coming ever since. To start with, their apple cider is the best I have ever had. They sell it by the gallon. It tastes just like biting right into a crisp, Fall apple. Their fresh veggies and fruits are just about like home grown. When I'm in BG area, I call and just ask. What's Fresh? They tell me and that's what I go get.. Plus another gallon of cider. There are always several plantings to choose from like fruit trees, flowers, herbs, greenery plants, veggie plants and ready pots made ready to sell. They also offer packaged items like natural popcorn, jellies, pickled veggies and even maple syrup. In the back is a giant playground for the kiddies. Feed the goats, the super slides, jumping the tires and they even have hay rides on special days. If you've never been, you and the fam are missing out. It is our favorite orchard. Enjoy! read more

I was disappointed with our visit to the orchard for several reasons. We grew up in the area but now live in Florida . We were up for a family visit and were excited to go to their "Apple festival ". We travel with our family pet and was looking forward to walking around the grounds with him. We looked on the orchard website about the festival and nothing was said about pets! We drive all the way up there and right before we get to the barn , my daughter thought she passed a sign saying "no pets" but we just assumed it would be in the barn where they have the food..we had made a plan that I would walk around with him and she could go get the apples and cider ..well, we were met with an angry employee and she stopped us saying we can't be there with our dog.. I told her we would just walk around the acres of land they have, but she said we had to leave .. We looked on their website again after we got in the car and you had to go to the very end and go to FAQ 's and scroll to the very end of that to read a question about pets.. My suggestion to the orchard is to be more clear about this pet policy if you want tourists to know about it! Do not get angry at us because it is not as clear as you think! With your special events, you need to remind people of this policy! This is a great time of the year where it's cool and people like to take their pets to fun events outside . So, if you aren't going to allow family pets, you have to make it clear in all your information ..and you need to have better southern hospitality and be understanding with your tourists if you want them to come back . read more

Love Jackson's orchard, Fall isn't complete without a trip there! We love all the snacks they have, especially the cider slushes and the fried pies. They also have a ton of stuff for kids to do. To beat the crowds try to go in September, but if you wait until October the lines all move pretty quick so don't get discouraged. For an orchard it rates very nicely. Plenty of fresh apples and nice pumpkins. Also, great selection of foods harvested from the farm. On the other side as entertainment goes for the kids it was probably about average compared to other open to the public farm/orchards. The price for the kids area was very fair at $2. read more

What I thought would be a pleasant visit with my fiance (visiting KY for the first time), turned into the worst experience possible. When we arrived, we immedietely bought some fruit. Then we asked if we could go look at the orchards. After 10 minutes or so, Mr Jackson (it turns out) came flying down the hill in his golf-cart screaming at us. He first accused us of stealing. Then when we told him we were just enjoying a stroll in the orchard (as I had done before), he told me that they had just sprayed pesticide, and that I was sure to try to sue him. His salutation was the best part..."dumb ass". I was shocked! I thought I had just imagined all this, but the employees reaffirmed that his behavior wasn't unusual. I returned everything I bought and left with the hope that this man learns how to treat customers with respect. It was completely humiliating to be treated like this, and I hope everyone reading will understand that he doesn't value his customers, just their money. read more

The fall season in Bowling Green wouldn't be complete without a visit to Jackson's Orchard. My kids grew up visiting there, and now my grandchildren. There are very few places like it. We were there this past Saturday for the free WKU Symphony concert, had a cider slush and fried pie, bought some apples, rode down the slide, visited the petting zoo........ a lovely afternoon. The kids got to be outside, we got to spend quality time together, and only spent a few bucks.
