Finally I was able to schedule it and right before the surgery my daughter suddenly passed away from cancer. I canceled the surgery and would have rescheduled it. I think your child dying is a reason to temporarily cancel scheduled surgery for a cataract. But this Dr. Benz called me screaming at me that I canceled the surgery, never asked me why and told me not to come back that he was sick of me. Thank you Dr. BENZ and Eyes of York for your brutality, lack of decency, I guess greed comes before even the death of your child. I guess I should have gone down with the C-diff and infected everyone. What a monster.

I made an appointment for the one annual eye exam covered by my insurance. I knew I likely wasnt getting glasses at Katzen and I didn't think that was secret. The appointment was for the exam. I'm one of many who just can't afford glasses from the optometrist. When I asked - at start of appointment- for my prescription with pupillary distance, I was treated like I was tricking them. "We know what you are going to do with that." Um, I would assume so? Then *after* the exam was complete, they said they would not provide the pupillary distance unless I ordered at least one pair of glasses from them. They also at this point appeared annoyed when I asked for information on changes in my prescription. I drove to the Lutherville Katzen location where I had an eye exam in a previous year. Luckily, the Lutherville staff were professional and answered all of my questions without issue. And for those who like the details: Katzen Reisterstown employee walked me through their pricing. Frame selection was limited and conservative and cost for my lenses and frames would have been $300 for the cheapest frames to $1000 for frames I still didn't want AFTER my puny insurance discount. That price is out of reach for me. I wasnt hiding that and should not be shamed for it. My cost at the local discount place (Optical Center Randallstown) which has a much wider selection of glasses, and with online vendors, is $80 to $180 all in for progressives. Katzen Reisterstown made the case that progressives will be of better quality if made by their office. I didn't have a problem with my previous discount progressives. But even if Katzen's are better, I still can't afford them. If Katzen had said to me when I made the appointment that they won't provide full prescription information to patients who don't buy glasses with them, I would have had my exam elsewhere. Won't be back and just made a family member an appointment to get his eye exam - and glasses - elsewhere.

She apologized for the mix up and assured me I'd get the originally deal!!!Her calling me back the next day completely sold me to get the procedure done with them as she didn't have to give that special especially since I already booked. My sisters doctor was Dr. Anthony who works primarily in Vienna so he did my procedure. They said everything went really well during the follow ups and they said the work was very well done. I will say my vision was not as clear as I thought it would be after hearing feedback from a few people who got it done. Most said next day they were good but for me (-6.00) it took about 3 days to feel comfortable driving. I will follow up.in 30 days and decide if I need to switch practices.
