I've been here 3 times for 3 haircuts. Unfortunately I will not be returning. I'll start with the positives: - Texting for the appointment is convenient, and they're typically very quick to reply. - Cute setup and decor. - Ben is always pleasant when I've had my haircut by him. The reasons for only 2 stars: - The price for Ben's haircuts was raised from $100 to $150 (that's a 50% increase). The true issue here is that I was only notified AFTER my last haircut. Therefore, I did not have the option to decide if I was willing to spend an additional 50% on my haircut. $100 was already steep for me, so I would not have done it had I known the price increase in advance. Any price changes should be given to customers before or during appointment booking. - I LOVED my 1st cut. I wasn't as crazy about the 2nd one, but it was good enough. I like the look of the 3rd; however, my hair was perfectly healthy prior to the cut and within a week of my cut my hair started breaking off. It quickly became full of split ends and I find broken short pieces of my long hair everywhere every day. This never happened prior to the cut. I don't know if the scissors were dull or what happened (I'm not an expert), but my hair went from healthy to damaged immediately and the only change was this haircut. This is my 2nd hair salon in Atlanta after moving here 5 years ago. I started coming here maybe 2 years or so ago. It took me a while to find someone I trusted enough to do my hair and I found it. I live 30 minutes away and it's totally worth the drive and fighting traffic to come see Baylee! I have dark, Asian hair and she knew exactly what I wanted to do and listened but was also super honest in what was achievable given black Asian hair is not supposed to be blonde. She is super honest in telling me what was Instagram vs. reality because I don't want frizzy, dried, straw-like hair - where most blonde Asians that I've seen have it. I also didn't want orange or brassy tones because that's not the look I'm going for. To be fair, I'm one of the "lucky" ones where my hair lightens really nicely to achieve that ashy blonde tone that we all LOVE and want and Baylee even said that it lightens up better than most asian hair! Anyways - I love going to her for hair cuts and colors, she definitely knows her stuff about color theory! She always wants me to leave happy and she's even re-toned hair after it's been dry to get it to the right color that I want even if she had someone else coming in after my appointment. I would say, she's definitely as good as she seems on instagram! And you HAVE to take care of your hair in terms of conditioning, using the correct shampoo, hot using too much heat, going for tone appointments. I LOVE MY HAIR! Amelia is the best stylist ever. This is my 3rd time coloring my hair and the first couple of times I went to a different stylist. He wasn't as good in my opinion. But Amelia she definitely is such an honest stylist who isn't trying to sell me anything, she really listens to you and when you ask questions, she gives you an honest answer. I appreciate people who are like that. I showed Amelia what I liked and what I wanted done with my hair and she knew what to do. The process was really long. My hair took about 7 hours to finish, but mind you I have dark asian hair, so it took some time. But the results. were. effing. amazing! Amelia charges $155 for a balayage, $55 for a haircut, $50 for extra color because my hair was long and $60 to tone. When you first book an appt ( i did it thru texting - super easy and convenient!) you have to put a deposit down. I put down $60 that went towards my service. I'm really not one to write reviews, but I am so happy with the results of my new hair that I had to write one! I found Amelia through Instagram after searching for a hairstylist who was skilled at balayage coloring, specifically for Asian hair. I was able to easily book an appointment through their texting system (first-time customers have to pay a $60 deposit that goes to their charge later) and was even informed in advance when Amelia was running a bit behind on the day of my appointment. Great communication. I was even able to text them a picture of my current hair as well as desired style beforehand. Long story short - Amelia is fantastic! Not only is she super skilled at achieving exactly the color I wanted, she added some pieces around my hair that totally framed my face and gave it more of a brighter look. She is also so, so sweet! She offered drinks, snacks and even helping with lunch order if I was hungry. The whole hair process took about 6 hours (balayage, toner and hair cut) and she was so concentrated and really took her time. I absolutely LOVE my hair and am SOSOSO happy I finally found my hairstylist. Please do yourself a favor and see Amelia if you want to beautiful colored hair. read more

I was able to set up my appointment over text message, which seemed super convenient. Until I showed up for my scheduled appointment time, and they didn't have me on the books. The receptionist didn't greet me when I walked in - instead, ignored me, staying on her phone, and only looked up when I greeted her first. When I told her my stylist & appointment time, she checked the schedule and asked for my name / phone number. She said "oh, it looks like we didn't actually have you booked. We can see if there's another time you can come in for an appointment with Theo?" No apology, no "sorry for the inconvenience, nothing. I asked if I drove an entire hour for nothing, and whether I could get a gift certificate or something. I asked to speak to the manager. He was a bit more pleasant and said he was sorry for the mix-up, and Theo was completing another hair cut (last one of the day), but could check whether or not he could fit me in after. And If not, perhaps another day he could fit me in. I waited 20 minutes with no follow up, so I left. For a first experience at a well known high-end salon, this is pretty pitiful. Terrible customer service and they dropped the ball on scheduling my appointment, causing me to waste over an hour of my time in poor weather going out of my way to come to their salon. I had an appointment yesterday with Theo. Let me just say....he understood the assignment! I hadn't gotten my hair cut in a little over one year. Had a good amount of dead hair to lose. Fine curly dense hair texture. I never really knew how to cut or style it best. Theo was super knowledgeable and really understands how hair moves and flows. He has a very chill yet kind vibe. One star for the owner, his temper, and unprofessionalism Kate is a great hairdresser, very sweet, and professional. I got my hair colored and went back for a haircut- both times I was super patient, waited 15-20 minutes past my appt time to be seen only bc kate was so worth it. After my haircut i was handed to an assistant who was styling my hair and I did not like the way she was styling my hair bc it was looking poofy and she was curling-straightening, and re-curling pieces bc she was not able to get it to look the right way. I didnt feel right that my hair was being curled, straightened and recurled and did not want my hair to get damaged AND i had been at the salon since 12:30 for a haircut- 4 hrs later ofcourse I texted their concierge and asked if they could change the assistant to a more experienced person to curl my hair so i could finally get out of there, no reason to sit around for an hour to have my hair styled- no response, finally 10 mins later after i texted again- the owner of the salon jacob- came up to me and was angry that I had asked them to change my assistant. He literally verbally attacked me SO rudely- was tempered and The whole time he was styling my hair I felt scared from the way he had spoken to me and how roughly he was working on my head. I saw a side to him I had never seen on social media before. My heart was literally beating so fast as he was doing my hair "to get me out of there" as he said rudely. I was in tears as I left and nobody cared to ask if i was ok- except for kate. They were prob all scared of him (understandable now that i have seen that side of him) I think at one point he was implying that I was being racist- well, he judged, and is totally WRONG bc I am anything BUT that. I am a doctor And I spend one day a month serving the underseved for free to care for them, my office manager is african american, i voted for obama, my employees are of all races, for him to imply i wanted to change my assistant bc of that was uncalled for and I have lost all respect for him and his mannerism. I was very respectful to his employee and texted the front desk to change my assitant because I Did not want to hurt that girls feelings and tell her I didnt like the way she was fixing my hair. I explained all of that to him and he was so angry that he did not even stop himself to say i am in the service industry, this client has spent over $400 in my salon this past month, she has referred over 10 ppl to my salon- let me ask her what she does not like about it and say let me make this better for you instead of attacking me and pulling on my hair out of anger as he was styling my hair. I had another salon almost ruin my hair (first picture) then Katherine from Jacob K Hair did a color correction that completely turned it around (second picture). She worked tediously for over 4 hours, using a million foils, continually checking them to make sure each one was perfect! I really thought my hair was done for but Katherine blended the horrible line across my head so well that you would never know it was a color correction! I am beyond grateful for the amazing job she did. I have been to other stylists in the salon including Jake and can assure you that everyone there is absolutely amazing and talented. After having a bad experience with Baylee, I will not be returning to this salon. I had such a great feeling about her initially, and thought after seeing her larger following on Instagram and posts that I would love my hair after seeing her. I booked an apt with her which took forever and finally got an apt time after waiting a month. I paid my $60 deposit due to being a new client and was so excited to see what she could do to my hair, seeing as everywhere else I've been has either severely messed up the color etc. Note: I have Asian hair and am currently blonde. I was simply looking to have some warm pieces in my hair lightened and the blonde brought up to my root more, and overall an ashy/ icy blonde tone. I sent Baylee inspiration pics weeks before seeing her and had a consultation with her after walking in to my apt. I told her exactly what I wanted and reiterated again I wanted more of my warmth gone and wanted an ashy blonde tone/ icy. My apt was at 10 am and after spending 9 HOURS, she was done. She told me she could get me way lighter and brighter and the ashy tone I was looking for. I couldn't tell what my hair looked like after washing it, but when her assistant finished blow drying my hair, I was so upset. My hair was barely noticeably lighter, only in certain pieces, was more brassy and golden blonde than when I came in and I had spent an entire day with her. She charged me $300 dollars for full highlights which is ridiculous considering the result she gave after what she initially said. I messaged her two days later saying I was so disappointed and not happy and wanted her to fix it. Went back in a few days later and all she did was OVERTONE it, and instead of it being an ashy silver like she said, she turned my hair BLUE and ORANGE. She had to wash my hair twice the 2nd time to get more of the blue out. I messaged her saying how frustrated I was and needless to say, she said they do not offer any refunds, and that she NEVER promised me what I asked for. What a rip off, and a liar. After asking why she told me what she did then delivered a terrible result after having to go back in, she ended up blocking me. DO NOT go to her if you have dark hair or are blonde (not naturally). I have a few coworkers that have recommended Jacob K, so I thought I'd give them a try. Two of my coworkers specifically mentioned Rebecca, so I thought I'd pick for a time on her schedule. I like the salon: it's spacious, there's ample parking and the staff is nice. Nevertheless, I'm pretty critical with hair cuts and I realize that I probably should have been a little more specific in what I wanted. I've got your typical Asian hair: it's thick, a bit coarse and so I typically look for someone who knows how to handle Asian hair. I got about 6 inches cut off which was fine and I'm really glad that Rebecca asked me how much I wanted off. I guessed 3 inches but it turns out, it was actually 6" because I can't really see the back of my head. That part was fine. I wanted sideswept bangs and she was very good about advising why she wanted to help texturize (layer) near the top underneath the top layers of my hair. She also showed me how to style my hair. However, when I mentioned that I had trained my center part to be more side-parted, I failed to mention that I wanted it more to the side which should have involved cutting more of my bangs. Last, but not least, I found the overall length to be cut too bluntly. While I did communicate this after the cut she tried to soften it, it still wasn't what I was trying to achieve. The haircut was ALMOST there. Like, If I had to give the cut itself a rating of 1 to 5 (5 being the best), it's like a 3.8 rounded to a 4. The fault is probably on me for not being more vocal or for not showing a picture of what I wanted. I'm still searching for my new go-to stylist. Again, nothing wrong with Rebecca. She was pleasant to chat with and she's more skillful than some stylists I've had. Sometimes you just have to find the right fit. read more
