To me a five star salon is clean, organized, welcoming front desk, attentive stylists, well priced for services and good vibes. That's exactly what fifth and Mae is! Everyone was keeping busy working or cleaning without a chaotic energy. The front desk girls welcomed me got me checked in right away and my stylist was on time. The consultation was amazing, Kirstie listened to what I was looking for and told me what would be achievable for my hair. She worked quick and neat with her technique. I really wanted to be able to write a good review on this salon, but I can't. The salon was clean and Ashlee's personality was phenomenal. However, there was miscommunication between Ashlee and my extension stylist, causing my hair to not be matchable to extensions, which was the whole reason I came in for color. I called and asked if they could take me darker so my extensions would match but they were unwilling to correct or compromise with me. I was promised a solution once speaking with the manager, but never received a call back, even after I followed up. Very disappointed. read more

First time customer who had high expectations. I originally booked my appointment in early February to see Sarah for a haircut. Due to the pandemic it ended up getting rescheduled a bunch of times (always with a call and text with plenary of time in advance!) I also ended up switching to Heath by the time I actually had my appointment. Went in, called in advance to make sure there was "space" (yay new normal lol) they took my temperature, the space was super clean and everyone was friendly and spread out. Heath was super sweet and and easy to talk to (which matters to me!) he was really knowledgeable out the products and how they worked! My hair looked a million times better when I left and I actually am thrilled with my haircut (usually not so much but I kind of pay go on my way bit this is honestly a great haircut). If you live within driving distance of Fifth & Mae, you need to go! Hands down the best salon I've found. I have been here multiple times, and I am always thrilled with my hair afterwards. I highly recommend Harlie. She is great with color, and can do about any cut you want. I had virgin hair before I went to her and decided to take the balayage plunge. I've been obsessed ever since! She makes it look so gorgeous and natural. She makes sure to match your color with your skin tone. The inside is super cute and cozy. They have a coffee/tea bar, so you can sip on either while you wait. This past time they had an employee giving hand massages to all of the clients. Best treat ever after a long work week. I have looked at many pictures of her creations over the last 6 months or so. One of the girls I work with has been going to Christina and her hair is fabulous, Christina transformed hers from a hot mess to HAWT! Now I can say she has done the same to my hair! I like the salon. It's beautiful. Service is great. The stylists are friendly and always do a great job! One thing I'd like to be considered is pricing for kids. I know 10 years old and under is reasonable but my daughter is 11. The price for her is now like an adult $55. I don't think I should be paying $55 for my 11 year olds haircuts. I may have to find another more affordable salon now that she's over 10. read more

I have been a regular client for over 3 years. Christina has taken such great care of my hair, and listens as a colorist. I book my appointments for a few months in advance, so when the Covid-19 closures were lifted - I had an appointment already on the books! The staff at Fifth & Mae handled everything wonderfully. My temperature was taken before I walked in the door. Masks are required to enter. I had to sign paperwork stating I was without cough/symptoms or not residing with someone with symptoms. Christina and Jeremy were simply the same amazing professionals - although now they are in masks and gloves 100% of the time. Only a few stations were occupied so they could comply with new social distancing guidelines. The entire time I was at the salon, I was comfortable and impressed at how thorough the staff was adhering to the new normal. At the end of my service, I was purchasing 2 products. Both products were picked up by their extraordinary Kirstin, sanitized, and given to me upon leaving. If you are hesitant to have your hair done with these new guidelines, you can feel confident that Fifth & Mae is taking things seriously. They are protecting their clients as well as their stylists, and they're back on track for making everyone's hair spectacular. read more

Mallory is the best! I am in love with my new haircut, and she has been done an excellent job on my highlights/lowlights for the past few months. It is always scary to move and have to find a new salon. I have been so happy with not only Mallory, but everyone that works there. The women at the front desk are always so helpful and sweet, and Katie Jane is awesome with cutting my children's hair (ages 2 & 4). The young lady told me this because I asked her. My hair cut was nothing like I wanted, she seemed to struggle trying to hold the scissors-maybe because she is left handed? I found Fifth and Mae Salon via their Instagram account and knew that I had to give them a try. I was shopping around for a new hair salon after a negative experience at my previous salon- blonde hair is hard to maintain and can be easily done wrong (think yellow, brassy, and damaged), which mine was! Plus the customer service at my old salon wins a half star out of five. Fifth and Mae is top notch when it comes to customer care as well as talent. When I first entered the salon I was warmly greeted and instantly asked if I would like a coffee or water. Everybody at the salon is friendly and so accommodating,I even received a complimentary hand massage which was incredible, and before I left they snapped a pic of my hair for their Instagram. I felt like a complete rock-star throughout the entire experience! I of course have to shout out Christina who did my highlights, cut, and style. She is a blonde master!! I would give them a 0 starts if I could. Their website states they have a 100% response rate... incorrect! I scheduled an appointment and even received a text from them the evening before confirming my appointment. As I was driving to my appointment, I get a phone call from them stating that they had to reschedule. No, not another time, another day! I explained that I was already on the way and was going out of town so I needed to get in. The ladies response is "life events happen". Wtf!? I was confirmed and already halfway there. This place is unprofessional, and personally, I will tell everyone not to waste their time scheduling an appointment if it's important to you not knowing if they will cancel or not.
