The instrumental jazzy piano tunes, college football on the tele with the sounds of the aquarium water pump reminded me of my buddies place on Race Street(now closed). Aimee and I stopped in on our way from the High Point in ND to the High Point in MN. I'm always on the hunt for great hot and sour soup, and we wanted a quick stop. This is in a small strip mall, sandwiched between the train tracks and the street. Don't let the location dissuade you; ;this place is terrific! The hot and sour came in a giant bowl, and it was sooo delicious; I wish I lived closer so I could get it on the regular! I also had dumplings, which were fresh and good. The restaurant was great. I got there and made to-go order, and within 5 mins my food was ready. The pho was good, tastes very authentic. The eggrolls were crunchy, big, and had tons of meat! If you're a vegetarian then I guess that wouldn't be your choice but I definitely enjoyed the eggroll. Spring rolls were also tasty. The spring roll wasn't rolled very tight and so a lot of the noodles fell out when eating it, but that doesn't take away the fact that it was good. So good job Jade! I don't know how this is even considered a Chinese restaurant. I went there because of the reviews with my wife and a friend who happens to be Vietnamese and ordered 5 separate dishes including some pork fried rice, Mongolian beef, Kung pao chicken,chicken and broccoli and some pho. Beef was hard to chew, chicken was like gnawing a piece of rawhide and there were more onions in my dishes that a farmers markets. I've had some bad Chinese food before but this tops them all. Every dish was bland all the food came out within 5 minutes of ordering which leads me to believe these were all pre-made. You are better off at a Chinese buffet. We love this restaurant! I have been eating here since 2009, and it's always been my favorite restaurant in the Fargo area! I am a vegetarian, and I love the fresh vegetable spring rolls, the fried vegetarian egg rolls, Cream cheese wonton, Sesame Tofu, tofu chow fun, tofu lo mein, and the curry mock duck is really good, but my kids don't care for that last one, so I rarely order it. My kids' favorite thing to share is a tofu and vegetable pho soup with vegetable broth instead of beef broth! We LOVED the Vietnamese salad/rice noodle dish with mint and tofu, (#103), which was enough to eat twice that day/night while traveling. Other winners were the vegetable fried rice and cream cheese wontons. (those were free, which was lucky, because I would not have known I would like them.. kind of a tiny little treat with a lot of healthy dinner so nice bonus) The guy working the front made our night.. Detroit to Idaho is a long trek and he had the perfect sense of humor for the mess we were in when we showed up/rolled out of that car. Mostly, it was just so great to have a veggie filled, light and fresh tasting dinner on a road trip full of heavy/fast food type stops. This is only Vietnamese/Chinese restaurant I tried in Fargo. I am not a big fan of Pho made of rich meat broth and Jade Dragon's broth was pretty light so I enjoyed it. However, if you are looking for more deep rich broth (that you find at most authentic Vietnamese restaurants), this place might not meet your expectation. My colleagues who ordered chinese dishes said their dishes were more flavorful than other Chinese restaurants. Reasonably priced. If you are craving for Pho, I think you should give it a try at Jade Dragon. read more

Since I moved to Grand Forks recently, the craving for pho sent me to Fargo because Grand Forks doesn't have any restaurants that served this great dish. I grew in Houston and with a large Vietnamese population, there are a large number of pho places. Now I live in the middle of the boonies with no access to this great dish that is great in the winter time! Now Jade Dragon is good enough to satisfy my craving for pho. I was in Fargo on a business trip and I found a place that served Pho. I was happy and excited for this lunch option. Then I actually had the Pho. I ordered the #19 bowl of pho. It was the plainest bowl of pho ever. The soup didn't have any depth to it. The #19 advertised meatballs, but it was really 1 or maybe not even one whole meatball sliced super thin. Check out the picture I took. It was slice as thin as a credit card. I put all the pieces together and it didn't look like it added up to 1 meatball. The thinness of the other meats were similar. I had a feeling that it wasn't going to be good when the wedge of lime looked dry and the basil was a bit wilted. But I went ahead and ate it. That was the big mistake. I was pleasantly surprised to find a Vietnamese restaurant in Fargo. I highly recommend the Pho. The broth was very good along with the delicious rice noodles and beef. My wife had the vermicelli rice with steak and it was also very nicely done. For an appetizer we had the fresh spring rolls. They could improve their peanut sauce. They also have Chinese food on the menu, but it seemed like the standard Americanized version, so I would stay on the Vietnamese side myself. Being from New York City, I had a craving for good Chinese food so I decided to try this place as I had spotted it before. This place doesn't have good Chinese food - it has SUPER Chinese food! The fried rice comes in a good sized portion and will satisfy anyone. The egg rolls are good and crispy too. What I really want to try next time is the pho (Vietnamese noodle soup). I saw people near me eating bowls of that and it looked so good. All in all, Jade Dragon has excellent Chinese cuisine and is worth eating at! read more

I am obsessed with Vietnamese food, and seek it out whenever I travel. I picked Jade Dragon based on other reviews. Plus, I was staying near the Fargo Dome, and it was about 3 miles from my hotel. Jade Dragon is fairly good sized, had soft music, and thankfully no TV playing. It was nicely decorated, and very clean, even the bathrooms. I arrived around 6pm for an early dinner. First off, I tried the fresh spring rolls, which were $4.25 for 2 rolls. They were large, fresh, and filled with shrimp and some thin slices of pork. They were OK, but the peanut sauce did not really taste like peanuts. The bowl of it had crushed peanuts topping it and a squirt of Sriracha sauce - so take care - very hot. I also ordered a bowl of the vermicelli (bun) with eggrolls, for $7.75. It arrrived in a large bowl and was filled about half full. The vermicelli noodles were cooked well and were laid on top the lettuce. There was minimal mint, and no cucumbers. On top was also the pickled carrots and daikon, which were delicious and very crisp. The eggrolls on top arrived hot and crispy, fairly delicious. Sadly, the fish sauce had almost no flavor. It was bland and watery. What this dish needed was more mint, cucumber, and fish sauce with a little punch to it. The staff were really friendly, took my order promptly and food arrived really quickly. Overall, lovely and attentive staff, very good prices, fresh food but overall too bland for my tastes. Will try another Vietnamese restaurant next time. read more

This is a great place. Pho in North Dakota? Who would have thought? I wish I'd known about how wonderful Pho was when I was going to college in Fargo, but such is life. It is a bit of a shame that the place has to masquerade as a Chinese Restaurant too, as the Vietnamese food is quite wonderful in addition to the Pho, and why is it a shame? Because far too many people are probably ordering the Chinese food instead of the truly good stuff the restaurant specializes in. That being said, it's probably a necessary evil to make sure we get the Vietnamese cuisine too. The decor is great, what you'd probably expect with plenty of Asian artwork. And the Pho? As good as any I've had elsewhere. I will echo another review that I wish there was some more meat in it, but it's still a huge bowl of broth and noodles, so I was not leaving hungry. And if you didn't know? Pho is wonderful as a Hangover remedy, it actually is in SE Asia! But other than that, give this place a try, and get something from the Vietnamese section of the menu. It is not like Chinese at all, and you might just be surprised by an entirely different world of flavors you never could have known before! read more
