We really like everything and surprised we could finish that much food; only thing I'd change is to pick spring roll for appetizer. I must admit the food is better than most places I've been to in California. Roasted duck is very good. It's great that it's even on the menu. S/s chicken was moist, flavorful and not over battered. Shrimp fried rice was awesome...had large whole shrimp in it, honey walnut prawns were perfect, no heavy mayo here. It has a shiny glaze that left you wanting more. Mongolian beef was average. My Family of 7 went to dinner to celebrate a birthday, our reservation was at 5:30pm. There were only 2 other tables occupied at the time we sat down. The food was fantastic. We ordered the the egg drop soup which my son truly loved, krispy gau gee, fried eggplant, noodles, orange chicken, beef tomato, shrimp canton, rice and kau yuk. We had hot tea on the table when we first sat down and had to ask for more when we ran out which was ok. The food is very tasty, not oily, and freshly made. We were all very satisified. Food was probably a 2, I've definitely had better, but on an island where there seems to be a dearth of reasonably priced restaurants open after 9pm, this place came through, thus the extra star. we were in search of something else, but when we found it was closed, it was either here or the mcdonalds. and voila, chinese food we ate. i wouldn't drive too far to come here, but if you are in a similar situation as we were just in . . . its reliable. and also the waiter was incredibly helpful in telling us good local sights to see on the island, and also very friendly. so the service was good, so that adds to the bump up to 3 stars. read more

I'd give them 6 stars except for their tendency to overcook the vegetables in their takeout orders. Dining in they're cooked to perfection. The crispy gee gau is tasty and never too greasy. Just had an awesome experience. I've been craving dim sum and that's one of the main reasons why we went to Jade Palace. Now, there's not really dim sum "dim sum", so I settled for ordering pot stickers. (Yes I know it's basically a dim sum but I was craving Legends kine) They were out of pot stickers. Sooooo, we went about and ordered another appetizer, obviously bummed about it. Our waitress came back after placing our order and reported that they would be making FRESH pot stickers for us since that's originally what we wanted. Her boss told the kitchen to make them. Long story short-ish -- they made it happen. A small gesture really helped to put a smile on our faces and we will definitely be back!! read more

What a great surprise in our journey from Hilo to the West Side. Stopped in for lunch. Packed in with a bunch of other businesses in the Waimea Shopping Center, Jade Palace is a gem. Your choice of buffet or ordering off the menu, and you can sit wherever you wish. "Boss" was attentive and accommodating. They made our tofu and vegetables not fried, and answered lots of questions. We got: fresh potstickers that were quite good and crispy on the outside (yeh!) tofu and vegetables lunch -made our way, good (a little heavy on the sauce). Came with rice, 2 crab rangoon (excellent), fried egg roll (okay), and soup - we got hot and sour (spicy and thick) wonton noodle soup - delicious and light. Got ours with egg noodles. Next time will try the rice noodles Cha siu and plain dumplings - super tasty together Jasmine tea- lovely We appreciated that the restaurant wasn't freezing from air conditioning, the cool water was refilled magically, and Boss was an excellent host. Went for an early dinner at Jade Palace. Our appetizer of pot stickers was the best I've ever had. We then ordered sweet and sour chicken, beef broccoli, and pork chow main. Each dish was so well prepared and delicious. The portions were so generous that we have leftovers for tomorrow. (Everything except the potstickers . The two of us ate all 6) The restaurant is very clean and the service was amazing. The owner was so friendly and accommodating. Definitely a wonderful choice if you're staying in any of the well overrated and over priced resorts. Make the 30 minute drive. You will be so happy you did. read more

My boyfriend and I ordered from the Dinner Special menu and I really can't complain about the pricing. He ordered the orange chicken and I the lemon chicken, oh yes we got crazy with chicken. We also got the egg drop soup, crab rangoon and spring rolls, along with some tea. The restaurant was barely even half full and our server was whipping out the plates, which had we been in a rush to get out of there would have been fine, but we weren't. Kau yuk - Lots and lots of large fat, no taste Minute chicken cake noodle - Noodle hard as rock and boneless chicken which amount equaled 1 and 1/2 deboned chicken thigh House noodles - Noodles very thin like somen noodles, not a very memorable taste Fried wonton - Pi should have been used for soup and not frying as it was as hard as rock and the pork filling was smaller than a pencil eraser. I have eaten here several times on trips to the Big Island. On our most recent visit last month, the food was fresh, tasty, and a great value for the price. We opted for takeout, and the food was still delicious 30 minutes later. I'm surprised at the negative reviews, as the service was great (answered lots of questions and allowed substitutions with a smile), and every table in the place was full on a weekday evening. Amazing food. The chef was very friendly and served up a winning collection of dishes. We started with the chicken larb. The portion was very generous. And unlike many places, there was a generous helping of lettuce to scoop it up. :). We also ordered the Tom Yum. It was good. But, I wouldn't mind a bigger serving. But was full of lemongrass and kaffir lime leaves. As usual, we orders the panang currie. It was mouthwatering goodness. It was full of veggies and chicken. Very weak pork fried rice... has canned cube carrots and peas in this dish. Pork ribs: Terrible sweet and sour sauce. Lo mein chicken and vegetables? No flavor. Styrofoam boxes? Pathetic.
