We had just finished wine tasting near Yakima and we wanted to do some shopping before dinner. A pet peeve of mine is that many stores on the east side of the state are not open after the wineries close (at 5 or 6pm) and closed on Sunday. I really don't get this, everyone needs a day off and time for church, but I wonder if the stores would be more successful if Monday was their day off instead of Sunday when the tourists are in town. Anyways, I digress, Gretchen was just closing at 5 pm and we drove up and she stayed open for us. I found a gorgeous knit dress in two seconds and ended up buying a great sweater for work and fabulous scarf in addition. Gretchen was so nice and easy to talk to as I looked through her tastful clothing. She suggested some items for me to try (really cute) and we talked about brands that we love. Prices are not too bad, either. The store associate asked what I was shopping for and I told her I was not shopping for anything particular. I saw a pink linen jacket and wanted to try it on. She said it would not fit me. Karen alert (bonus: blonde bleached hair). I said ok and kept browsing. She then started her Karen assault! She asked if we were new in town, where we were from, where we lived, where my accent was from. Geez! Slow down lady! I politely answered her questions, and once she was 'convinced' we lived up to her 'customer' expectations (whatever those expectations are!), she became friendly. No, thank you, and bye. Paul then took my likes and carried them on to the next suit, and by the 5th suit we hit the jack pot, with Great fitting form and only needing to be hemmed for pant length.
