Can-Do Spirit A local chain of five recycling centers located throughout the Bay Area, with this one being in SJ's Cambrian neighborhood. Normally, I couldn't care less about saving cans to turn in, but about six months ago I got tired of the old lady who takes the cans from our bin every week, and I decided, "Why don't we start saving them instead of giving away money?" Let's see how that idea turned out: The Good: * Convenient location at the Lunardi's shopping center on Branham & Meridian. * Lots of free parking. * They pay you cash on the barrel-head. No checks, no electronic payments. Just cold hard cash. * Open seven days a week. * Employees were affable enough, even though they seldom look at you, let alone say anything to you. But, I will say, I don't mind dispensing with pleasantries on occasion. The Meh: * Arrived shortly after opening and we still had to wait over an hour to finally turn our cans in. This place is always busy. * Closed between 1 - 1:30 for lunch. The Ugly: * One of the bad things with collecting cans is you have to store them someplace in the meantime, and my garage is only so big and it gets to be a real PiTa after a while. * Now, I'm not saying that they're scamming you, but their method for tracking the weight of all your stuff is very, very suspicious. They just weigh it, but I don't see them log the numbers down on anything. So how they come up with the final weight and dollar amount is a mystery to me, unless the dude handling the scale has a photographic memory. Which is possible. Unlikely, but possible. Conclusion: Well, I've had some pretty hare-brained schemes in the past, but this might be up there. Six months' worth of cans (2 1/2 of their bins full) and we got a measly $20! Hell, it wasn't even $20--$19.85, to be exact. The moral of the story is, if your time is worth more than $20/hr then just leave the can turning in to the old lady. read more

We've been going to Jado for a while. It's more convenient that other places, plus it's close to home. Similar to other locations, the aluminum cans are $1.65/lb. On this particular day, on a Monday afternoon, it was quite busy. It is generally in and out and quick. All the times we've been here, we haven't received bad service. They're just doing their job and they do work hard, Be sure to put a tip in their can to show your appreciation. We always do. read more

Waited 2 hours or longer because the guy moving the bins moved slower than my dead grandma (I'm not joking) he was wearing some large temu diamond chain so I guess they aren't paying him enough for him to move even just a little bit faster.. I seen him have to reset the scale like 10 times because whatever power connection it has was wrapped around and obviously not working right. I been going here instead of Ranch Town (in Willow Glen) just because parking in the Lunardi's lot is way easier. With Ranch Town, they weigh it out and give you a slip to go get paid out. With Jado, they take care of it in one transaction. The workers are generally nice! Just try to pre-sort it so it makes it go by quicker. I try to go on weekdays, the line on the weekends can be crazy!! read more

They are slow, rude and short you on recycle $$ We turned in 5 of there barrels of cans, each showed over 14lbs when weighed(I saw the scale), they show $1.65 per LB so on the conservative side 14 X 5 = 70 pounds witch should have been at a minimum $115.50, they gave us $42 and some change. This place isn't a fancy operation. The recycling center is literally a shipping container located in the Lunardi's parking lot. Having said that, it was a quick in and quick out trip for me during a weekday afternoon. There wasn't too many people there and all I had to do was count out my aluminum cans as I dumped them into their recycling bin. I was paid 5 cents per can in cash. Not sure why this place gets so many negative reviews. It basically operates the same way as a nearby Walmart does, but no longer accepts bottles and cans. read more

I hope this company / business updates their customers, letting them know they have moved and are no longer at the Safeway/ Branham-Snell location. We've stopped by three times with Recycling. The first time was decent, they were open for business. The 2nd and 3rd time, there were no Recycling Stations to be found. Yelp may still have the Operating Hours listed, but the Recycling Station is no longer there. If you moved. Please kindly update your location and inform Safeway Staff, so they can maybe re-direct customers to the closest, most convenient Recycling Station in their part of town. read more

The location is on Lunardi's on Meridian. Don't go to the Bascom/ Curtner. I had to call the number they provided on their website for the location. It was my first time, tip, take out all your caps on your water bottles and I didn't know about this until I was told. They were nice about it let me do it on the side of the container to get shade. It took me 20mins since I pre-sorted My items before coming to the recycling place. FYI, they take certain glass bottles, plastics, and no imported glass beers. read more

Awsome job the gentleman with glass that works here very friendly and professional on what he does takes his time and checks each bin for non crv material and does it with a amazing smile and dancing while doing it ... very very interesting when he catches a non crv and lectures us on why it ain't buyable . Just say No to crack. Employees are usually drunk. Vodka is their beverage of choice. There are broken bottles and sometimes pharmaceutical bottles strewn about. They may of may not show you how much your materials weigh. It was a complete disaster today and took at least an hour. This was my forth attempt. Go to Ranch Town, or better yet Danny's if your load justifies the cost of the drive out there. They need to hire better. read more

Thank goodness for this location. The owner knows the right places to set up shop to serve her communities . I stopped into this location on my way running errands for a good friend I found this recycling center was a bit bigger than the one by my place in Fremont and was impressed by the way the operation was so well in tune. I recycle more often now because there are options. The surrounding cities need to approve more of these sites due to gasoline constraints and convenience. No more waiting in lines now! The Red carpet was rolled out as the Blue re-useable JADO Express bags were being dropped off by various customers as I waited in line. I asked the recycling specialist about the program I purchased two myself at $5 each. One for my plastic and one for my aluminum CA-CRV material. All I have to do is fill up the bags during the week and drop them off and receive my payment by the end of the work week. EPIC!!!! EXTRAORDINARY!!!! THANKS JADO Recycling. read more

Can't offer any stars yet because I have not gone in, but based on that most recent review, others may like to know this is the name on the containers I have recently seen a couple of times over the past week, located in front of Lunardi's & CVS, at Branham and Meridian. Before the lock-downs, there was another recycler there for years, but they disappeared months ago. read more

The day I went to drop off my recyclables, there was only one worker on duty, rather than the typical two. The 2nd worker had apparently called off. The line wasn't terribly long, but the wait was, because the worker on duty had to perform his normal duties (consolidating and weighing the recyclables, and paying the customers) as well as those of the 2nd worker (transferring the recyclables to the trailer and clearing the area around the trailer). At least that's how things used to function at neighborhood recycling centers before their mass closure several years ago. Bottom line: The worker was doing double duty. One of the customers in line behind me was EXTREMELY vocal about the long wait and the mounds of recyclables outside the trailer. Her points were valid, but the employee was really doing his best under very trying circumstances. Through it all, he was cool, collected, and courteous. He even apologized about the long wait as he handed me my payment. That's almost unheard of in most retail settings these days. Think Walmart and especially Safeway. Another benefit of this center is that payments are made in cash. No longer are you issued a voucher that would need to be redeemed at Lunardi's Market. That was a hassle. The one star reduction (4 vs. 5 stars) was due solely to the long wait. With that said, the overall experience was still quite positive: Hard working employee, courteous service, and cash payout. read more

This place is a rip-off. They don't deserve one star. Do not go here unless you don't care how little they pay you. I only went here because it was convenient. Prices and total weight don't correctly reflect your final payment; shady math and selective customer service. Also, they are picky about aluminum and plastic recyclables. They don't accept plastic with caps. There is nothing posted telling you this. Aluminum must be cans only not water cans shaped as bottles. So convenient to have this location re-open. It's directly behind Safeway in the Branham Plaza shopping center. Simply drive around the back from either the Wells Fargo side or the Hive Five Pizza side as you can access both ways. PLENTY of parking in the back and this is 100% self-service where you bring your bags and empty into their blue bins, then the employee will weigh them, have you sign a receipt indicating weight for each type (i.e. aluminum cans, plastic bottles, glass, etc.). Keep in mind there is a sign that mentions no bottle caps which was a BIG concern of mine since most of my plastic bottles still had caps, but the worker ensured me it's fine as long as the contents are dry. Years ago- the old recycling company behind Safeway would hand you a paper ticket which you would have to go inside Safeway to redeem for cash. That is NOT the case with Jado. They will hand over the cash to you with receipt detailing weight of contents right there on the spot which is nice. read more

This location used to be good. Now it seems like no one wants to work. Employees are often late to work--when they so up, that is--get into fist fights with one another, and generally exhibit an I don't care attitude. Today, June 26, 2022, the manager (not sure) showed up and posted a closed sign, then quickly left. If the owners are not serious about having a store here, maybe they should sell it, or, better yet, hire workers who actually care. Furthermore, if being open seven days a week it too much, then reduce your store hours. Unfortunately, I am taking my business to other centers who seem to care. read more

I have to say, I'm absolutely disappointed in the amount of disrespect and anomisty I got from the two guys who worked there today. I got there 6 minutes prior to closing. They were already helping one guy. I asked as soon as I parked if they have time to squeeze in one more which was generosity on my behalf because I understand it's getting close to closing time but maybe they want to go home. I thought six when I told him but I was still there at 4:54 pm which is 6 minutes before closing time. The kid there I know he doesn't speak English because the way the guy told me. But I can still understand body language gauge. That kid was rude. You don't look at someone with a disturbed face and wave at the person like I'm stupid and point at your wrist like I don't know what the time Is. Then I said I understand I came close to closing time I can just leave and apologize for the trouble. They kept pursuing me and the older guy with glasses literally told me to get my shit In the buckets and hurry up. I went from trying to be understanding to mad real quick. When someone comes off disrespectful i tend to try and finish it so i snapped back. He continued to argue that he doesn't get paid over time​ and I told him I understand I don't do either but I still am gladly to help people if I can and honor every customer before closing hours. I did not get that experience and instead I got my time wasted, with disrespect and anomisty. Yes, I wanted to fight that guy for being the way he reacted and acted. Nobody knows what one goes thru and I myself work at the airport. I see over 1million customers a day managing 5 concessions everyday. Trust me it's a tough job. I'm still able to close restaurants, coffee shops and bars all while helping the last customer before closing hours. So I know about managing and customer service. This place by far did not have that. Very bad experience. The older guy with glasses had the nerve to tell me that I'm holding him up instead of trying to be polite and help me, help him do his job and for me recycle he just continued to argue. I told him what's the point of even taking it their and arguing he was holding up the other guy that was there prior. There could have been a ton of things that could have been said or done better and I chose to leave and tell him God bless him. God helps all people. I had to laugh it off and think how much of a joke that service and those people are. read more

They have a small building near the corner of a large parking lot. They only take containers with CRV on them. That could be a glass bottle, plastic bottles or aluminum cans. However, if these items don't have CRV on them, they don't take them. There were a couple people in front of me when I arrived. They gave me a garbage can to put my CRV items into. I told him when I was done and he told me the amount they would pay me. It was 5 cents per item as they were under 24 oz. He went into the building and handed me the cash that he quoted earlier. If you have a lot of CRV items, it can be worth stopping by. read more
