They carefully followed all of the building's rules for elevator use, placed furniture exactly where I requested, and neatly stacked boxes in the appropriate rooms. What impressed me most was their professionalism and attention to detail. They communicated clearly throughout the process, regularly checked to make sure I didn't have any questions, and truly went above and beyond to ensure everything was done right. I price-compared a ton of NYC moving companies and J & G gave me a competitive moving quote. Additionally, the building I was moving into required a certificate of insurance (COI) and J & G was able to offer it for me for free. A lot of other companies charge for this. Before moving, I communicated with them via email and they always responded promptly and were very clear about what their moving package included. The day of the move, they called and asked if it was okay if they came an hour early. They were very communicative with me during the whole move. The lead guy (forgot his name!) assessed how many things I had and then discussed with the other 2 men on how to efficiently approach the move. The 3 men were over 6' tall and strong, and they were able to finish my whole move in a little more than 1 hr! I did not have anything that was easily breakable but the men treated my things with care. They provided blanket and shrink wrapping for all of my furniture. Everything was loaded up into their truck very quickly. These guys wasted no time. When I arrived at my new apartment building, they had already started unloading my things. I had my boxes labeled with what was inside (i.e., kitchen supplies, shoes, jackets) and they actually placed each box in the corresponding room. Best of all, there were no hidden fees. They ended up not charging me a processing fee that was included in the quote and gave me $40 off my quoted price. The movers were so friendly, communicative and professional, I will definitely be using J & G Moving again! I also wanted to note that on the day of my move, the street I was moving from was blocked due to construction. J & G movers did not complain or make any mention of that until I had stepped outside of my apartment building and noticed it. Based on my estimates of the time the job would take, they were much cheaper than any of the 5 other companies we got quotes from. In the end though, the job did take longer than expected. They used three employees and a large truck. They provided blankets, plastic wrap, and tape to properly protect all items for transport. If they noticed any preexisting damage on the furniture, they notified us promptly so we were aware. Initially, they worked quite efficiently, but began to slow down during the second half of pick-up. What I thought would take about 4 hours ended up being a 6 hour job, including a 45 minute drive to the new place. They still came in cheaper than the next best quote we were considering, but not by much. When they finished the move, they left a mountain of tape, plastic, and cardboard, which they supplied, in our hallway. We thought they would clean it up before leaving, but we were left with that task, which was disappointing. They require a $50 + tax deposit to reserve a move. You pay the balance after all the work is done. They offer a discount if you pay in cash. Overall, they were professional and moving is grueling work so I have no major complaints, other than the debris they left behind. But be mindful that the time-based quote may add up, so be prepared to spend more than you might anticipate.

Before they even arrived, I got a tracking link to follow their location just like Uber, which immediately made me feel at ease. Crisanto and his crew showed up right on time and were incredible. They worked quickly but carefully, wrapping all of my furniture and somehow managing three giant mirrors without a single issue. Not one complaint and not one moment of stress. What really stood out was how above and beyond they went. They helped me figure out which part of my couch would actually fit in my space, laid out my rugs, and organized everything so I could still move around my studio comfortably. tl;dr Dispatch was great, crew was horrible…read more I want to be fair. Dispatch was professional, helpful, and the price was reasonable, especially for short notice. I wasn't pushed to give more of a tip, although I did tip more than recommended. I was initially really satisfied, but have since discovered they deliberately damaged a 6-level stacked metal card cabinet. When I included it in the inventory, I wasn't aware there were still items in the drawers. Our move was extremely chaotic, and the moving service that we used prior, checked all drawers to make sure they were empty, before moving items. People make mistakes, especially in stressful circumstances. Nonetheless, I accept that the responsibility of checking was still ultimately mine. However, if I had been made aware there were still items inside, I would have apologized, and either offered to pay more, or moved the drawers myself. After arriving at the new location, my son heard clinking sounds, as one of the movers walked past him smirking, while shaking and swinging the drawers, one in each hand. He then threw the drawers on their sides, onto one of my metal bookcases, which was apparently repeated for all 6 stacks. Between the throwing and shaking, the outer surfaces of the drawers and top of the bookcase were scratched and scuffed. The individual drawers were so badly dented that I had trouble putting several back in once removed, to retrieve the items that had been flung into the very back, past the drawers. They could have refused to take the cabinet, like they did with several boxes I had pointed out at the beginning of the move as needing to be prioritized. I had to beg and offer them more money to get those boxes onto the truck, because they said they'd already taken enough items. It wasn't until they called dispatch that they were told I had preemptively paid more the day before, because I didn't want to risk undercounting the boxes and other items. Dispatch said I didn't owe anything more, and told them to take the boxes. I was trying to understand why this crew didn't simply decline to move the cabinet, like with the boxes. They would have been well within their rights, because it violated their company's policy. Given the smirking and throwing, the only conclusion I can make is that this crew found messing with customers and damaging their items, fun.

One of the kitchen packers opens lid of my spice box (I had leaves and chillies puts his nose in sniffs and asks what is it? 3. Packed every little thing in white wrapper so unpacking was hell. Single stainless steel spoon wrapped in 4 layers of packing . 4. Who does this .packing open can of bleach with groceries. While unpacking I saw white dust thought its paint once I hit end of box it was bleach so ended up throwing everything from that box. Which professional mover does that 5. Random packing. I had very organized closet but they picked random items and packed in diff boxes so i had box with sweaters pillow covers photo frames and belts all from diff parts of closet. LASTLY we were given pricing we paid that by bill and paid $800 extra over that without receipt as they demanded that they packed box. When vector gave me a quote it included 10 medium boxes $20 per box but the guys packed everything with white wrapper in kitten not one but 4 sheets and increased boxes packed to 30 , unethically charging us for small boxes stuffed with white paper. Despite (a) 2 in-person visits to our apartment in our effort to get a realistic "guaranteed maximum price" proposal and (b) following such visits, our having disposed of much of our furnishings, etc., which substantially reduced their workload from the date of their proposal, after packing up our property, IMove nonetheless charged a substantial amount more than their "guaranteed" price which we we were compelled to pay in order to get our property stored and delivered. Then, upon delivery of our property to our new home, numerous items were either missing or broken. IMove has refused to accept responsibility for any of the above.

Milo took one look at me, realized how flustered I was about everything, and took a minute to calm me down. Who does that??? He and his team worked efficiently and calmly. There was a hiccup at the storage unit; we had an issue getting in, and they were patient and kind. Everything went off without any problems, minor or major. They were just, well, Magical! As for pricing, they were the only moving company that didn't charge predatory pricing. Magical Moving didn't charge me travel time, waiting time, or anything insane.
