This place made me extremely happy. The bartender, whose name I didn't catch, was one of the friendliest, nicest people I've ever met. She concocted a drink not on the menu for me - it had (extra) jalapeño, pineapple, and rye whiskey and it was SO good! I could have enjoyed Trailhead all afternoon. Worth a stop in if you're in Billings for sure.

    Fabulous warm wood interior.

What can I say? This place is all that is good in small, local businesses. A distillery that serves drinks in very chic surroundings inside an old railway shed was exactly the tonic to a dull old Monday night in Billings. There were a couple of people at the bar but we sat at a table. The deal is that state law says you can buy 2 drinks a day at the distillery and buy 2 bottles of spirits a day. They distill gin & vodka. Cocktails are interesting with new takes on classics such as the mojito or a dirty martini (which comes with blue cheese stuffed olives). The price is right too. Between $7.50 - $9 for premium blends. We were also offered a taste of the spirits neat. Gin is my drink of choice but I have to tell you, that was the cleanest vodka I have ever drunk. It was so smooth, it was unbelievable. Not a hint of burn or kick. I can imagine drinking this neat or on ice. It's so pure, it would be lethal in cocktails! This place has a great feel with lots of cool styling and a slightly industrial vibe to it. Can't recommend this place highly enough. *Note - it closes at 8pm so the cocktails are your pre-dinner aperitif.

This is a little local distillery that makes its own gin and vodka. The bar serves a variety of mixed drinks made with their product. (Other hard liquors may be available, but we were there to sample their distillates.) Local draught beer was soon to be available, but was not when we visited on 9/11/13. Really enjoyed the ambiance, and conversation was easy, as the sound level was pleasant. Wait staff was most helpful in describing the distilling process and ingredients. I enjoyed my "Moscow Mule", and my wife and mother-in-law had tasty gin & tonics. Many other mixed drinks to try! Due to strange liquor laws imposed by the MT Tavern Association, hours of operation are currently limited 4PM - 8PM, much like the same laws imposed upon the little local MT breweries. Hopefully these laws will change over time.

Delicious drinks, great atmosphere and awesome employees and management. You can only have 2 drinks but it's well worth it.

Poor customer service. Significantly overpriced, especially given the type of service and lack of training employees receive.

Fantastic vodka, smells like vanilla, tastes very smooth. I buy it frequently at local liquor stores.

Best cocktails in town. Great drink menu. I dislike gin and theirs I enjoy. Great for a pre-date or night cap.

I need to start by saying that the service was A+++++++ and I don't blame them one bit. Sydney M…read morewas amazing! There was another woman, too, but I forget her name. She was wonderful, too. Ok, so, we started with crab cakes and oysters. The oysters were East Coast oysters and I'm from NY, so I had to get them. I haven't had raw oysters in over 20 years, and these did not disappoint! They were so delicious, I ordered 4 more, but they only had one more of the one I wanted, and I happily took it. The crab cakes were good, too. So maybe we should have quit while were ahead.... It took an hour to get our meals, and when we did, I was unimpressed. Mine was slopped onto the plate, with mashed potatoes smeared on the side and the sauce dripped on sides of the inside of the rimmed plate. The potatoes looked congealed, like they had been sitting out, and they had, because the food was cold. I asked for it to be heated up, and I'm fairly convinced they microwaved it, because the plate was warm, but the food still wasn't. The steak was extremely salty, potatoes gluely, and the broccolini was bitter and woefully under seasoned. My husband offered to switch plates. He has the pasta, which was also not very good, but at least it was hot. The description said andouille sausage, but it was clearly kielbasa, and the sauce was greasy and separated. Who hired these so-called chefs? Where did they get their degree? Do they even have one? We go out to eat so rarely. I'm a fantastic cook myself, so when we go out, we want the food we order to be better than what I can make at home. Especially at $30 a plate. So, alas, they get 2 stars, for the excellent service, the delicious oysters, and the beautiful ambiance. They apologized profusely and took my horrible dinner off our bill. We are so grateful for that. We will be back for a pretzel. And more oysters.
