we attempted once again to eat here. We stood at the " please wait to be seated" sign for 10? minutes. We saw a few empty tables. The sign is near the kitchen so a lot of staff was running in and out. They saw us... they looked right at us.... Not once did anybody say a thing. A simple " someone will be right with you" goes a long, long ways. The problem is when we actually were seated the time before we sat at our table with the same hustle and bustle of being ignored. If I recall the food was ok, but we weren't going to wait forever. We understand you're busy, but wow; acknowledge your customers. Training is needed. I don't think any staff we say even smiled. We were in town to see family and they took us here. There are two entrances and we just seated ourselves which I found confusing as there wasn't a host to drive any order in placement. It's had several large screen TVs soo certainly a place to watch sports. My husband ordered the chicken strip basket. Chicken strips were small but enough for him. They fries he got were salt and vinegar-he said they were decent. I got the Monte Cristo. The sandwich was good except the raspberry jam was very hard and did not seem like jam but more jelly. I asked for the garlic parm fries. The fries were decent but outside of a few seasoning shakes at the bottom of my plate, I would not have been able to tell they were garlic parm. My husband I went to this restaurant Saturday for a late lunch. Katelin (hope I'm spelling her name correct) greeted us. She was Awesome! Gave us time to look over the menu & answered any questions we had. My husband had the chicken bacon sandwich with sweet potatoes tater tots and I had boneless wingies with sauce (can't remember which one, but it was delicious). I was Really hopefully for this place as it's right in my neighborhood when we bought our new house. First trip was a terrible disappointment. I ordered a chicken sandwich at lunch. I received a tiny little piece of chicken on a huge bun. Lol. No really. Smaller than a chicken nugget. I tried to complain... but it was empty and the girls on the waitstaff were on their phones behind the bar. My girlfriend ate her quite nice salad and I got ready to leave. The manager made an appearance and asked how our meal was. I showed him my nugget on a full bun ... he asked if I'd eaten the rest. I explained that it was all I had received. He was obviously dubious and didn't believe me. He asked why I hadn't alerted my waitress... I said they never made themselves available throughout the meal. Been coming here for years and came to watch a game. Definitely not a sports bar. Bad attitude from management. Fans missed the sound from either game. GRIZ or bobcat game for the whole 1st quarter then no or little sound in the second. We were the 4th table of fans to leave and management didn't care. Went here with my family and the atmosphere was great, we ate outside and served by two women who were adequate in their service but just. No more, no less. I was underwhelmed. The food was standard. Bitter lettuce, cold chunks of grilled chicken, burnt bacon bits, unripe tomatoes, too much blue cheese and for the love of disgust, frozen avocado. Totally wrong. No bread for the salad and I asked for crackers and they didn't bother bringing any. Everyone else seemed satisfied but no one finished their plate, but picked out the best and made due. I went to the Vig on their Tuesday trivia night. The place was packed and getting there 5 minutes to trivia start time led to my friend and I sitting at the last two open bar seats. We each had draft beers and shared a plate of nachos. The beer selection was great, similar to most restaurants in the area. The nachos were pretty tasty. Probably a standard nacho, the queso was better than most but it lacked beans and acabado which really enhance the nacho experience. The trivia was lots of fun. They use a company who prints the game boards and answer packets which make it really easy to follow. The bartender changed one of the TVs for me which was awesome. He wasn't a jerk about it either and I actually didn't even ask. I was craning my neck to see the sounders game and he went ahead and changed the closest tv to that game. Big fan of that customer service action! Overall a good experience. Will have to return to try some other food items. read more

I had listed a bad review a few months back and after management had corrected the issue a couple of months later, I changed the review to five stars and squashed the issues. After tonight, I am done with these guys. I could care less what the management team does. I will never step foot inside of this place again. Every time I go in there and I mean every time, I'm dropping $100 and I always tip The staff 30% at a minimum. Go in there tonight and they are so busy that they're not allowing anyone to place an order for the next two hours. Keep in mind all of my orders are placed to go so it doesn't matter if I need to come back in an hour and pick it up that's fine. I came into the restaurant to place the order personally because I called last week and placed an order and their asinine story at that time was that they were too busy to take orders over the phone so I had to go in there and personally place the order or they wouldn't take it.That's how they run their business and that's OK. We have lived in Billings for 4 years but only recently discovered The Vig and we really like it! We have eaten here a couple of times since and even though they get really busy the place is huge so there are plenty of tables. Service is pretty good and the food is great! I like it because it is loud and so we can bring our toddler with no issues. Can't wait for football season I think we will come here to watch some games! read more

This evening I went to the Vig with a group of friends, hoping to get a drink. The waitress came and started taking our orders. I have an out of state license and am here for uni so I haven't needed changed it to a Montana license yet. My out of state license has never been an issue. Ever. The only response I ever get from it is, wow you're a ways from home or something about the weather. Anyway, I ordered a drink but I would've refrained had I known I was about to be quizzed and nearly lose my license. So, she carded me, rather carelessly bending my ID, then asked the capitol of the state where my license is from, but I lived there for a short time and also that was two years ago. I panicked and drew a blank. She said fine, what's your address? Again, I haven't lived there for two years and I moved three times while living there, I couldn't remember which address was on it. I said I'm not sure, sorry. Next she asked my birthday, obviously I can remember that so I said it, to which she replied, "yeah that's cap. I'm gonna let you keep it this time but I won't serve you." I'm 25. Clearly not underage. At a table with all adults, very obviously all several years over 21. Who cares about the drink anymore, I'm frustrated with being called a liar and almost having my actual drivers license taken away. Also, I didn't grow up in the US so I have minimal knowledge of the state's capitols, I really haven't cared to learn them. I was looking for someething new to try for lunch, and having heard about The Vig and their food & service, it enticed me to give them a try. Boy howdy am I glad I did! Love the atmosphere and the service from the staff - never overbearing and always pleasant. The food is spot-on! I tried The Colonel, as I was looking for something new to eat. This plate will fill you up! You get mac-n-cheese, sausage, and brisket on a roll, along with fries for $13.50 - well worth the price! Even though I don't live in the Heights, this is well worth the drive for me. We will be back to The Vig many more times in the future. read more

This is a great addition to the Heights. The food is usually really good. However, we went last night and the brisket was a little dry. This however is not the norm and usually we cannot complain. The stuffed mushrooms are awesome and they have a good mac and cheese. Service is usually fast and friendly. This is not a place to go if you want to have an intimate dinner or if you want to visit with a group of people. It is more of a sports bar and thus is pretty loud and hard to hear each other across the table. They have a great patio and a casino as well. They now have a full bar. This is definitely one of our go-to places whether it is dine-in or take-out. read more
