Dunno where the hell the good reviews for this place come from. The barman BARKS at you for IDs when you walk in and then gets antsy when you want to see what beers they have. Not everyone knows exactly what you serve, man. He reminded me of some reject from the army who collects memorabilia in his basement dungeon. The place is loud, plays crappy I Love America country music, and the graffiti all over the walls basically tells you that it probably used to be the hot spot of Lone Pine back in the 90s and it hasn't moved on from that era since. If you're in Lone Pine you're there after a) a long drive or b) a long hike. Even if you want to let loose and not go to a quiet relaxing place (like the cracking, brilliant Double L down the street) this is not the place. No one likes to be antagonised and then have to sit there sipping the overpriced beer you just bought for the next 20mins. Redneck craphole. Go to the Double L! read more

Awesome Bar in Lone Pine that was happenin' throughout the evening. I would love to give this place 5 stars, but their one fault is there is NO hard liquor. I don't know if this is a town ordinance, or the bar itself, but, either way, you can only get beer and wine here. But, aside from that, it is fantastic. Beer was good, crowd was lively, music is playing but is not overbearing so you can still carry on a conversation with people. The place has a shuffleboard table, two pool tables, ping pong, and a digital dart board. Everyone was having fun. The decor is great and divey with a western flair. Nice spot to take a chill from fast paced life and step back in time to the wild west. Jakes Saloon in Lone Pine, Ca ,is a conveniently located In town center walking distance to hotels and restaurants. Great stop for a cold beer, glass of wine. We were driving down from Big Pine on a Sunday morning and I was "5 Star thankful" for a legitimate, local, non-sleazoid saloon that was showing the Seattle Seahawks game on one of several TV's. Woo-hoo!! So, while my husband rode his bike up to Whitney Portal, I enjoyed a coke at the bar with some super friendly folks. As far as Saloons go, this is it! Perfect layout, large pool table area with at least one ping pong table..hand made! Some of the coolest lamps hanging from the ceiling I've ever seen, an awesome unfinished mural on the ceiling...TVs for sports! Abslolutely fabulous saloon, with very friendly regular customers and super friendly staff. Its pretty sketchy wild wild west/cowboy/biker style with lots of 1$ pinned all over the place and also tags and sort of memo graffiti's. If you ask bartender you can leave your mark on the walls. We had a blast with some locals who were really friendly and mood was really good. Will be back again! read more

Jake's is a small town western style bar that only serves beer and wine. It has two pool tables and a ping pong table. We wanted to drink and socialize a bit. There were six patrons drinking beer when we arrived. We are locals but not regulars to Jake's so that might be why Beverly the bartender was unfriendly to me and my wife. We only drank 1/4 of our beers and left. We will return when a different person is behind the bar. read more

We walked in during the quiet hours and so therefore only a few people were around. This place seems to be a good watering hole as it has decent brews. No food. We were hungry!! Decent beer and the bar tender gave a great food recommendation that made the night. We will probably be back as its the only watering hole in the town. read more

Several of my friends and I spent a fantastisk friday evening here. We truly enjoyed the bar tender Gary. It's always good to have someone welcome you into there home like he did... I really don't think that in the middle of a VERY busy time, did we have to wait more than a few minutes for our drinks... Then we went back on Saturday and what do you know, we even had an old time gun fight right in the middle of the bar.. sadly I was the first to die... And the band ROCKED until after 1..... Here's El Cazador with my 3rd annual review of Jake's Saloon. Spent two evenings there drinking beers and playing table shuffle board. Same mellow vibe as the last two years EXCEPT this year the town chain-smokers were present. The place fills up with smoke all evening. Me and my gal checked Jake's out on April 14, 2017 in the early evening, hoping to absorb some local flavor. Not much happening here, except a couple locals hanging out and the bartender complaining about the Yelp review (on 4/10?). We were disappointed that there were no spirits sold (only beer and wine) and the selection of beer on tap was pretty meager. Played some shuffleboard and left after two rounds. Can't say this place is bad, but it's not that interesting, either. Next time we're in town, we'll try another bar and see if it's more memorable. read more

Jake's Saloon looks great from the outside, and well, the clientele look even better. I saw the most beautiful man sitting on a bench in front of the place at around 6p.m., on Saturday, June 9th, 2012. An athletic surfer wearing board shorts and leather flip flops. There were also 3 amazing-looking red off road jeeps parked out front on the highway. I'd stopped my car for a cappuccino next door. (nice cup o' joe) It'd been a long road trip from L.A. on my way to a friend's Whitney Portal cabin. read more

Meh. The atmosphere is friendly and chill. They have the standard bar games, but also have ping-pong, which is a nice touch. I ordered a Mojave Red, and it tasted like Blue Moon. The temperature of the beer isn't what I prefer; it seemed just a tad on the warm side. How can one walk into a "saloon" and not be able to have any whiskey or brandy? On the way back from Tahoe my Tesla decided to not make it to lone pine Wich I did stop in topaz to charge. Pulled over on the side of the road .9miles from the charger . CHP was so nice and helped us get to the charger safely. While we where waiting to charge me and 2 beer decided to look for a beer. It's Sunday 10.30pm. Probably the only place openned. Man the nicest people you will meet. Super friendly, great conversation. I will definitely stop by again. read more

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. If you guys want to have somewhere to chill and drink a beer, please take your money to Double L because this bar is racist and makes you feel uncomfortable the moment you stepped in. We came here after Double L so we were all in a good mood and decided to check out the bar across the street. I have read the reviews about this place but wanted to give it a chance anyway. Wrong decision right there ! We went in with a group of our friends who are all minority. The moment we stepped into the bar it seemed like a chill bar with dollars decorated everywhere but that changed really quick when the bartender served us with a pissed off look on his face. No hi or how are you doing tonight. He was such a jerk and so rude. Im surprised that he is working this job that has him dealing with people on a daily basis. Immediately interrogated us, asking everyone in our group to show IDS. He meticulously looked at our ID with his glasses on like we were trying to fool him with a fake ID. Their beer was way more expensive than Double L which makes no sense. The bar had more people than Double L but they were majorly white and kept staring at us like they never seen other color people before. We were literally in there for 15 mins before we felt so uncomfortable that we wanted to leave. My African American classmates noticed a confederate flag that hung above the door. That was the last straw. I don't understand why other people are giving this place such high rating but then again looking at their pictures it looks like they had no trouble fitting right into the scene. TAKE YOUR MONEY ELSEWHERE. GO TO DOUBLE L INSTEAD WHO KNOWS HOW TO TREAT THEIR CUSTOMERS. We had such a bad experience here that our class is never coming back to Lone Pine again. read more

I can't say enough how much I love this bar! The bartender's are super friendly and remember you by name. I have had many many fun nights here! It is only a beer bar, so if you are looking for hard alcohol you will have to go to Season's restaurant or if you are a member you can go to the VFW behind McDonald's. read more

This bar looks great from inside and out and had all the hallmarks of a cool bar we could have happily hung out in all night - until I met the bartend/owner/douchbag server. Instant bad vibes from him. Hostile, aggressive, unpleasant and intimidating. No eye contact at all and no change given when we handed over $10 for a $9 check. Three foreign looking European guys came in just after us and he spoke them like they were dirt on his shoe. Displayed classic small-man syndrome, which was odd for an overweight dude. Weird small hands too. Do yourselves a favour and give this place a wide swerve. The bar across the street is a gen-u-ine cool dive bar with the nicest owner. No contest. read more
