My. family and I were visiting SNP and staying near Camp Nelson. A friendly local we met recommended Pierpoint for dinner so we thought we would give it a try. The man who greeted us upon arrival (I believe he was the owner as his there were photos of him and his wife on the wall) was very welcoming; unfortunately, we never saw him again after being seated. To preface the experience we had, It's worth noting that we were the only table in the entire restaurant. The waitress was not very friendly and was extremely unattentive. We had to flag her down for everything from ordering, to getting silverware, to actually checking out. She never once checked in with us to see how our food was or offer us refills on drinks. We also ordered a well drink from the bar and she automatically upcharged us without asking. As a former bartender I am all for upselling, but don't charge a customer for greygoose when they ordered a well vodka. Once we were finished eating we sat there for a good 15 minutes as she was outside on the patio smoking and chatting with her friends. When she did check us out she seemed bothered by us even being there and never once said thank you. The food itself was ok, we had two of their sandwiches with onion rings and fries. Overall though, I can't recommend this spot, which is sad because I love supporting local businesses. Hopefully this was just an off day for them. read more

Ate here at least 2 times a day while staying right around the corner. Really enjoyed the breakfast burrito, the club sandwich, the hamburgers and the fries and onion rings!! The vibe was laid back. Okay, please remember we're talking Camp Nelson here. Urban it ain't. If you're looking for good American diner food, a well-run general store, or a friendly bar, Pierpoint has all three. The new owners have a good kitchen with diner menu and a well-stocked store. The same person handles restaurant service and the store, and does a good job. Terrible experience. My daughter's order was wrong, and instead of fixing it politely, the server gave us attitude. The cook even came out and said "damn" in front of us, and later made a snooty comment when my husband asked for a to-go box. For the amount of money we paid, the food was not worth it and the service was unacceptable. We still tipped out of courtesy, but this place does not deserve it. Normally, I love to eat at this place, but I will not be going back after receiving cold food from this establishment.

We went in for firewood and toothpaste. The owner was so nice and helpful! He packed up our car with the wood and gave us tips on how to light it. Even let my husband go to the back to pick up tree branches for kindling. It smelled so good in the bar and grill that we went back a few hours later. Met a local man at the bar who we chatted with while waiting for our food. He was a gem and an artist who sells his pictures on Etsy! We took our food to go and the owners (husband and wife) checked to make sure we had everything we needed then wished us well. I absolutely will go back there. The burgers fried and onion rings were so tasty....the tomato bisque was super yummy....they even told us to eat it with the croutons because it makes it so much better...and they were right! Very pleasantly surprised. When you walk in you may question how your experience may be because it gives an older diner kinda vibe. A couple runs this place therefore you may have to be patient with the service but they do their best and give great friendly service. It was my daughter's bday and I was having a hard time finding chocolate cake, when I called a couple days prior they told me no problem they would take care of it and they did. This place is incredible. A small crew and I were filming a movie up in the sequoias and for 3 days- we only ate from Pierpoint. Stacey was the most kind, helpful, and incredibly communicative liaison. Everything we ate was GREAT- specifically the brisket sandwich. Wow. Also they have live music which is a real treat! We both ordered the Pierpoint burger, which appeared to have been frozen patties. We also opted for the frings, which was a combination of fries and onion rings. Their Bloody Mary and French dip were my favorite, I wish I could have tried everything on the menu. Stopped into the Pierpoint Bar & Grill for dinner as we were staying at an Airbnb right around the corner on our brief visit to Sequoia Nat'l Forest. And let me tell you...despite being the only game in town, we left having one of the very best meals in our lives. I am still dreaming of that BBQ brisket sandwich with caramelized onions, pickles and BBQ sauce on a toasted brioche bun and the melted smoked gouda fries with agave, jalapeno and bacon were also out of this world. But this really is all about the brisket sandwich, the meat of which is smoked on site. I made the mistake of splitting this with my wife when really I should have ordered two for myself. I am seriously contemplating flying back from Boston and making the hectic drive up the 190 to PB&G just for this sandwich; it is seriously that good! Dinner wouldn't have been complete without a couple of drinks and the warm and friendly company of Stacy and Chris, the two proprietors. Two of the nicest folks you'll ever meet and as enthusiastic meeting new people and making new friends as they are about describing and serving up their delicious food. We couldn't have asked for a more pleasant evening. They apparently went into hyperdrive to serve all the firefighters who came up to fight the forest fires...all in all, just good people and great managers of this gem. The patties are cooked perfectly, not old meat like some places use, it was probably at least 10 oz of meat. It wasn't oozing oil/juice either! I don't remember if there was sauce as I ate it too quickly, but a tad of mayo/ketchup/mustard/spices would make it perfect. The Pierpoint Grill has the best hamburgers!!! My husband doesn't like cheese on his burger, so we had it on the side.It was so big we could share it!! ( I had double cheese!) Stopped in for lunch today, while on a motorcycle ride through the area. Our server, while nice, was fairly non attentive, which was kind of odd, considering there was only one other table of two in the place at the time. I had the grilled chicken sandwich, and it was inedible. Either the chicken was a teenager when she met her demise, or the piece was cooked sometime this year, but not today. My friends brought their little dog along on the ride, and she enjoyed the chicken, but dogs will generally eat anything. One of my friends made the mistake of ordering a salad with chicken, and his meat was of the same era.
