This place is a must, hands down. The girls who work here are sweeter than sweet. The drinks are amazing. I ended buying a bottle of vodka and was curious of the sugar content and the girls knew immediately. They even had mocktails for my husband. The best part was the sweet chihuahua who owns the place.I honestly am so excited we made the extra stop. There are horses in the front yard and yummy treats. Just happened upon this cute little place and fell in love. It's quaint, comfy and the greeter pup is sweet. Let's not forget the delicious cocktails! I am typically a beer/wine person but decided to try one of their custom cocktails. The very friendly bartender made me a custom Lemon Drop Martini with their special vodka and fresh ingredients. I like them tart and she did a nice job. We were there a bit early but the rotating food truck came in and the entertainment was coming later. We'll be back, a little later next time! read more

This place is freaking awesome! We went there several times on our short weekend trip in the area because it was that good. - The spirits are unique, specifically the aged rum is fantastic - Cocktails are all great, and we tried several. Aviation and Old Cuban were my favorites - The staff is insanely nice! All of them were super friendly and kind, but it was genuine and not a put on - The food was delicious. Their Chicago hot dog is the best we have ever had and very authentic. I didn't even think I liked Chicago dogs until I tried theirs. We told them its better than Portillos and thats the truth. You need it! They also told us about a chef who has a food tent there on Fridays and Saturdays serving different options each week. We went back for that and more drinks and were not disappointed. A local friend introduced us to this wonderful distillery, and we will DEFINITELY be coming back. I had no idea Bishop even had a distillery - yet alone a good distillery! The drinks that I got were everything I crave in a cocktail and wonderfully priced. We sat outside and ended up staying there from sunset to who knows what time we left. I accidentally left my sunglasses there and emailed them to see if they were still there. The owners promptly answered my email (even though it was before opening hours) and my friend was able to pick them up for me. Was an unexpected wonderful gem found in Bishop. read more

Out-of-view from Main Street in an industrial warehouse, the location is not obvious to find. It's probably good that passersby heading to Mammoth won't notice which reduces the chance for drinking and driving. Although better than the local bars, the early 8:00pm closing time isn't ideal for evening lounging but day drinking. (Again, I'm discouraging unsafe life choices that I'm not personally following.) The emphasis was not about promoting their spirits but pushing their 16 mixed cocktails. I sampled a dessert-like Painkiller that was heavy with fruit and thick with coconut milk. More interested in testing their wares, I had a straight pour of Lekker gin that was darker and earthier rather than my floral preference. The Aimsir wheat whiskey was similarly heavy and dark. They also make rums and vodka which I didn't try given that I'd already had enough due to their big 3-ounce pours. (Aha! I made a good life decision.) I was surprised that a distillery didn't have an option of a flight. A limited menu of bar foods was available but don't expect to share the small amount of wasabi almonds that could fit in the palm of a child's hand. Small amount of indoor seating but more outdoors. Order at the indoor counter. Get their "frequent flyer" card if planning to become a regular. read more

Adam and Allison are the fabulous husband and wife who help run the operation, and I had a wonderful tasting with Allison explaining the various unique and fun characteristics of their creations. They have vodka, 3 types of rum and a gin, all fermented from molasses and cane sugar. They have pre mixed cocktails on tap and several other hand made cocktails. The space is cozy with a lot of warm tones and wood. There is a small selection of food, but remember you are coming here for the lovely libations!! Owens Valley Distillery is so great! I am a Bishop local and come here quite frequently. I love their cosmopolitan and vodka cranberry! Occasionally they have a local chef come out and serve Indian food or Vietnamese food, which is great too! I had come in a few days ago and opened a tab. There was another group and one lady had also opened a tab and we had the same name. I was mistakenly charged for her order. When I realized what happened and called the next day, Brittany was super nice and took off the charges from the other bill. Really great service! TL;DR genuine Chicago food from genuine Chicagoans is good enough to make this Chicagoan feel homesick. My buddy and I decided to take a motorcycle trip to Bishop from Oceanside to get beef jerky at a particular store in Bishop. Which is cool, but it was mostly his idea. My part of the plan was to add a whole northeasterly segment to the trip to ride through Death Valley and see some sights there. So we rode on our bikes to Shoshone, CA, and camped, and then started through Death Valley to Bishop this morning. We got to Bishop around 4pm or so, set up our camp site and headed into town to get dinner. We took a chance on Owens Valley Distillery and, goodness gracious, we were extremely satisfied. Setting aside the top-shelf level spirits they distilled, setting aside the personal level of customer service lavished on us by the owners and staff, setting aside the mixology prowess behind the bar, Owens Valley Distillery is a required stop in Bishop for two reasons: their Italian Beef and their Chicago Dog. Without a doubt, the Chicago-native owners of Owens Valley do not cut corners when preparing these Chi-town staples. The Italian beef is perfectly seasoned, with an exceptionally good (read: perfectly spicy) giardiniera. This Chicago Dog was dressed appropriately, including (and this was a talking point with my Michigan-born travelling companion) a properly bright green relish. Speaking as another Chicagoland native, this was the best Chicago food I've had since my wife ordered me a frozen Lou Malnatti's for my birthday five years ago. Getting back to the bar and distillery: excellent mixed drinks, with imaginative and creative twists on classic bar staples. The Rum Old Fashioned, made with their Quintuple Cuvée Barrel Aged Rum, was an excellent spin on a classic cocktail. The Aimsir Whisky, which a mellow, chocolate-noted finish, is certainly worth buying a bottle to make home. Between the Midwest hospitality (and the owners still have their Chicago accents), perfect spirits and cocktails, and genuine Chicago Italian Beefs and hot dogs, it was good enough to make me feel homesick. read more
