Went for lunch on a Sunday, there were only two or three other tables with patrons. The service was fine, however not all of the food was great. Mashed potatoes very gluey and one of the steaks was very overcooked. The walleye was perfect. Was not impressed with this visit. Hopefully just a bad day and not a trend. read more

We made reservations, showed up, got seated and got a drink. I think our waitress forgot about us. We finally got to order, and our food took about 90mins to come out. It wasn't even that great or worth a 90 min wait. When we asked for the check, our waitress got snippy and slammed it down. There were 4 of us (two couples) and she never asked how we wanted it split. All on one bill. So, the food wasn't great, the waiting was so awful and our service made us not want to return. Went on Valentine's day the ambience was very nice, we requested a table with a view of the river which our hostess gladly gave us! The service was amazing, our server was nice, very attentive, and check on us often. The bread rolls were free and amazing very warm and fresh, our server even gave us 12 rolls to go (for free) after we asked with extra butter!! The chicken marsala was tasty very juicy only complaint is the breading got really mushy on the bottom and was a tiny bit too salty. Mushroom Risotto was ok the rice seemed undercooked but taste was good. And the Ribeye was too fatty and a little dry but the loaded mashed potatoes were amazing! Not pictured here is the cheese curds which might have been the BEST part, MUST TRY crispy juicy cheesy comes with ranch they were amazing! Overall worth it will definitely come back. read more

Our meal was absolutely great! From burgers, to shrimp, to prime rib, the meal was excellent! Proportions were also excellent! Kinsey our waitress, provided a really great experience! She accommodated our needs really well and she played along with my joking so well, she is also a great photographer. We have gone here for years- our visit today was so awful we will not return! horrible! I spent nearly $300 for lunch & left hungry! we ordered several dishes- the New York & Ribeye, ordered medium, came our raw- our server said they were undercooked on purpose so that they didn't have to re- do the steaks if they were over cooked ARE YOU KIDDING ME? WTF? Learn how to cook at steak! The steaks were also so tough that my dogs will get an expensive treat. The shrimp was barely edible! overcooked & tasted like a salt lick. We talked to our server several times- all we got was " we have new cooks- but the owner is supervising " NOT ACCEPTABLE! I just spent a few hundred $ on food I can make better at home. Jake's was always a treat when I went to college at Stout in the 90s. Came back for homecoming after 24 years and decided to celebrate my birthday with friends at Jake's. It didn't disappoint. We started off with cheese curds for an appetizer, which weee yummy. Most of the table ordered the 15oz ribeye streak for their meal and I ordered the prime rib and shrimp special. Coming from Scottsdale, Arizona, couldn't believe the great prices of the items. Our server Zoe was great, so patient with our group, there was 11 of us. Went here for a nice dinner with my son after visiting him at UW- Stout this weekend. Wanted something other than bar food or fast food! Starting with our initial impression: beautiful view from the deck - can't wait to come back when it's warm again! Would recommend reservations if coming on a weekend- will have to wait for a table, but there is a bar. Speaking of which, cant ever go wrong with a real Wisconsin Old Fashioned. The drink menu lists a Jameson orange old fashioned -- I tried it on the advice of our server, and while it was ok, doesn't compare to the real thing. The menu is expansive and reasonable prices. The prime rib was melt in your mouth tender... the salad was good, too-- cold and crisp. My som had the garlic alfredo pasta and loved it, too. The only reasons I'm giving 4 instead of 5 stars is the wait time to get our bill... nearly 30 min, though the waiter was swamped. read more

We have always enjoyed the atmosphere , service and food at Jake's. On Easter I made a reservation for my entire family, including two toddlers. Our reservation was at 12:30, we arrived at 12:15, did not want to be late. The drive to Jakes from our house is 1 hour. We were the first group of 7 to arrive for the 12:30 seating, yet we waited and 1 and 1/2 hours for our table. 3 other parties of 7 or 8 were seated before us. Yes they also had 12:30 reservation. I watched the front house staff, not servers, there was about 6 of them, run around the restaurant trying to seat people. Problem being no one was in charge, with no communication to each other. They kinds reminded me of the old joke about monkeys trying to screw a football. The male hostess, with the bandage on his hand was the most unorganized. Brought my family there for a pre-holiday get together at 1pm on a Sunday. Other than football fans at the bar, the restaurant was relatively quiet. We waited 1-1/2 hours for our food. When finally received, some entrees were overcooked and cold while the quality of others were mediocre at best. All the servers were pleasant, but were non-existent during our time there. After paying a bill of just under $400 (9 ppl and only drinking sodas), we left feeling disappointed with our holiday experience. I messaged the owner on Facebook with my dissatisfaction. We've always been pleased when dining at Jake's until this Thanksgiving. I made reservations back in October but still had to wait almost a half hour before being seated, but that was okay as we expected them to be really busy. However, we got seated in a back corner by the bar between two TVs showing some football game, next to a large group of enthusiastic and noisy football fans, who made it difficult for us to attempt a conversation at our table. It was also awkward to get out and around to the buffet and the salad bar, so we didn't get to enjoy the food as much as we hoped to do. Instead of a pleasant dinner with family it was an uncomfortable meal that felt crowded and noisy. We had a very nice meal at Jake's Supper Club in Menomonie. The decor was fun and inviting. We started with the special Jameson Old Fashioneds to celebrate our daughter in law's graduation. Then on to the hand battered cheese curds that were light and gooey as they should be. For dinner, we had the walleye with mixed veg and the pork chop special with a twice baked. The walleye was really good. The pork chop was also tasty though we did have to ask for them to cook it more thoroughly. We ended the night with grasshopppers which were excellent. Glad to know that Jake's remains a classic Wisconsin supper club. We came for an early dinner on a Saturday. Service was quality by an experienced wait staff. Seated by the window and decor was very nice. I had salmon over rice with vegetables. Also French onion soup. Everything was terrific! The dinner rolls remain warm and great crust. (We may have gone overboard in our carb indulgences!) My husband had queen cut prime rib special, hash browns and a salad. His meat was cooked properly medium rare (as he requested) and food was very flavorful. His only critique was serving size of hash browns was rather small. We came here while we're were visiting Chippewa Falls, and were so glad that we did! This was my first supper club experience, and boy did it deliver! We ordered the fried chicken, prime rib, cheese curds, and loaded mashed potatoes. And of course we got some old fashioneds and dessert! The drinks were traditional, delicious and strong! True Wisconsin style! The cheese curds were delicious with some great breading. My friend said the prime rib was perfectly cooked and juicy, and the fried chicken was crispy and delicious, and came right off the bone. The loaded mashed potatoes were definitely loaded with bacon! I could've done heavier cheese and lighter bacon, but they were still delicious. Th bread was cooked well, and was warm. Finally, the coconut chocolate cake was just the perfect end! The food and service were both excellent! The prime rib was cooked medium rare exactly as I like it. The fried chicken was moist and the flavor of both dishes was infused throughout the meat. The bread was flavorful, yeasty and served hot. We weren't offered a salad or soup. That would have been nice. But our waitress was knowledgeable, friendly and very efficient. We were still talking about our meal the next day. So the lack of soup or salad didn't seem to really matter in the end. My second old fashioned was superior to the first. So to preface, we came to Jake's supper club during a very busy weekend (Stout's graduation weekend). Perhaps our experience would have been different if we came on a regular night. Also we came with a rather large party. Please keep this in mind when reading this. My girlfriend's family and I came to Jake's supper club to come celebrate her graduating from her masters program. She put in a reservation for a party of 11 well in advance. Her decision to pick a restaurant came down to who could accommodate such a party. Other establishments could accommodate but our party would have to be seated at separate tables. Jake's was the only one that was able to accommodate our large party. Great! However, it was apparent that the planning for reservations was not a priority and the seating chat was not considered. When we arrived, the table that was intended for us was in use by another party. They were very much overstaying their welcome. We waited for almost 30 minutes past our time of reservation until we were given the option to either be seated at separate tables or wait an additional 20 minutes on top of the 30 we just waited. (Our party also arrived 10 minutes prior to our reservation time). We ultimately decided to be seated at separate tables since it was getting late and we were all hungry. Our biggest frustration was that we selected this restaurant because they could accommodate the requests of having our party all at one table. We felt that the staff could have politely asked the party before us to move to the lovely outside area or the bar if they really wanted to stay. We felt our reservation and request wasn't really honored. So poor planning on the restaurant's part. On to the dinner portion of the evening. Again it was busy. We got our orders in fairly quickly but we still had a bit of wait. Before we even got our food. The hostess, visibly intoxicated, came and asked how our food was. At this point we didn't even have food we just had water. Frankly, it was awkward and very unprofessional. This is a supper club not a dive bar. Food. Two people in our party got the French onion soup. We all happened to try it and we noticed they both tasted different. That was very interesting. This it where it's gets better. I ordered the prime rib. Honestly delicious! I got it with the loader backed potato. My girlfriend ordered got the lemon artichoke chicken and the sauce was incredible. The food did make up for some of the other inconveniences during the evening. Overall, it was an okay experience. I loved the location of the place. It was scenic and had a very warm and inviting atmosphere. Food was pretty good. I just don't think they're great at large parties and maybe need to check on their staff more. I would like to come back maybe for just a date on a regular night. I would not recommend bringing large parties. read more

I went with a group of 10 friends for a bachelorette party and it was great!! Once we arrived, we were seated right away as we had a reservation. The wait without a reservation was about 2 hours on a busy Friday evening. I would highly recommend making a reservation in advance, regardless of the size of your party. Ambiance: Was wonderful - we had a table on the deck, with views of the lake, there was live music in the background but we were far away enough that we were able to hear the music while still maintaining a conversation. The live music was great! Food: was delicious, we started by sharing two orders of the cheese curds and the shrimp scampi. They both came out at the same time and were great. The portion sizes were great. I had the prime rib with the Lyonnaise hash brown (onion and potatoes) and it was great, the meat melted off the bone and the hash brown was well seasoned and crispy. Everyone was happy with their meal and the drinks were really good too. Make sure to leave some room for their alcoholic milkshakes for dessert. Service: our waitress Lindsay was a Rockstar. It was very clear that they were extremely busy and slightly short-staffed but she was funny, fast, and accurate with all of our orders. Additionally, she was able to split our order so that we could each just pay for our part of the meal - she even split the appetizers. Definitely a wonderful experience thanks to Lindsay. When you go out to eat and see a thick coating if dust on the overhead fan blades, it makes me pause. They now charge $2 extra if you want a wilted side salad with your $27 burned steak. Other than 5 choices of potatoes or pasta, thevonly greens are a cheap medley of green beans and carrots. You are only offered one roll of bread. If you are on ketos or low carb eating beware. While I have a great deal of sympathy for restaurants post covid, this was taking things too far for me.
