Came here on a Friday night & it was pretty busy. There was no wait which was nice. They have a good amount of seating & a huge bar which you can sit at. I really liked the vibe, it gave me country mountain tavern vibes. Our waiter was super nice and gave great recommendation. I got a Mule to drink, the Grilled Chicken Pesto Sandwich and sweet potato tots. They all were sooo good! The onion rings were also excellent as an app. The prices here are so cheap too which was a huge plus. Beware they do automatically add a "Living Wage" TIP to the bill. Driving from St. Paul to Milwaukee and stopped here for dinner. The beer list was decent, but since I was driving I limited myself to a single Spotted Cow. Cool space, appreciated the reuse of the building. Very friendly server, and good enough food, however, the time between ordering and getting the food felt like an eternity. It would not have been a big deal if we were not working out way further east, and it pushed our arrival time in Milwaukee back 30 minutes at least. This would easily have been a four star situation otherwise. If I was in the area I'd give it another go. read more

Literally my favorite restaurant in Eau Claire. Always consistently a great experience and great food. My entire party ordered gluten free buns. Two sandwiches came out on gluten feee hamburger buns and mine came out on a hoagie bun. I asked the server twice if it was gluten free, she assured us it was. I broke off a piece and tried it and could tell it was likely wheat. We asked another server and she said it was definitely a wheat hoagie bun with gluten as they only had gluten free hamburger buns. She sent it back and it came back on a gluten free bun in record time, within minutes. The sandwich was the regular quality, fairly good. I finished half, got a box, started putting my fries in the box -- and out of the fries tumbles the piece of the wheat hoagie bun that broke off. I've never been more disappointed in a restaurant that means so much to me. The apology was flippant and halfhearted and, not that I was expecting or asked for it, the check had no adjustments. I have celiacs disease. My reaction to gluten isn't small. Every time I eat out is a calculated risk and I accept there may be cross contamination, but to be served a wheat bun, confidently lied to twice about it without an offer to check to make sure, and then to be re-served the same food with simply a different bun, is unconscionable. I came from three hours away, I have a weekend full of work to do in the area, and now I have to worry about how the gluten is going to affect me. read more

Extensive menu. We had a group of 10 and everyone got something different and it was all enjoyable. I thoroughly enjoyed the waitress recommendation of Pasta Ya Ya. It consists of smoked sausage, shrimp, crawfish, New Belgium black ale sauce, herbs, Cajun spices, linguine. Really delicious. Great staff that handled the group with ease. One of the first places I went out to by myself on a Saturday afternoon which also happened to be prom night for local high schools so it was quite busy. I was told it would be a 45 minute wait for an outside table on a gorgeous Midwest spring day but got the text notification when put on the waitlist in less than 25 minutes. I was offered the benches for people on the waitlist on the back patio which I declined since I still wanted to explore downtown Eau Claire. Once seated, I was attended to in a few minutes and was given a sample of their pineapple hard cider before committing to a whole glass which I'm glad they offer since I was new to the area and local drinks and didn't want to waste my money on something I wouldn't like. The fried onion rings were fresh and delicious which makes for a perfect appetizer. They're also generous for their portions so that could have been enough for 2-3 people, to be honest. The grilled chicken pesto sandwich did take awhile to come out of the kitchen and was a little more oily that I would like. It was neat to see the living wages tip was added automatically (18%) to all checks with the option to add extra tip. However, that does present a problem if the service was not worthy of 18% or if the experience was lackluster. However, the server definitely earned it given how many tables I saw her work with while constantly making sure I had everything I needed. All in all, a nice spot downtown with slightly above average prices but the outdoor option definitely makes up for it! read more

The Livery came in clutch when we needed it the most - during sudden down pouring rain while at a music block party (Oxbeaux Fest) during peak dinner time on the weekend. Even though the place was packed, the host was able to find us a table for 4 in the back room. Then, our server was quick to help us in the best way possible - by serving up some cheese curds and cocktails asap. They had some great seasonal drinks like a cucumber cocktail and a moscow mule with yuzu. Refreshing! For my entree, I got a cuban on Udi's bread. It was so savory and satisfying, though I was disappointed the sammie/bread wasn't pressed or at least a little toasted. First off, we got seated at a table next to the door and it was very cold. We felt the breeze every time someone walked in. We had to wait quite awhile for our waitress. A table that was seated after us got waited on before us. This exact thing happened to us the last time we were here. But that time, the waitress forgot our order completely and we waited over an hour. When we complained to the manager, he just stated that they were busy. That is why it has been so long since we have come back! So eventually our waitress came, we ordered and it was about a 40 min wait for our food. We all ordered Cubans and they were terrible! They were a weak 3 last summer based on really marginal bar service (long wait time to get a simple drink, even when the ace wasn't busy). I think the service has improved. Friendly and faster. Unfortunately my three buddies have boycotted the place, so I seldom come in anymore. Today? It's good. Took me to state I will take my business elsewhere then able to get food. Really? Has this business forgotten they sell food and drinks! A tasty and historical little find here, nestled in western Wisconsin! The Livery is located in an old horse stable, but don't worry...it feels clean and well kept, with its brick walls and beautiful back patio! We were passing through and stopped here because of its claim of good food and gluten free options. They were right on both! Both my wife and I were in the mood beef, and ended up ordering the same thing...which we rarely do because we like trying different things, but the beef brisket called to us both with a song we couldn't ignore! Served with their own barbecue sauce, the brisket was cooked perfectly -- tender yet crispy/crunchy ends! Roasted potatoes, baked beans, and cole slaw were on the side. Each of these were great too!
