Old fashioned menu

Wow. The ribeye was amazing. End of review. Ok, just kidding. But this was the best ribeye I've had in a long time, and it is my steak of choice at steakhouses and supper clubs. Expertly prepared in cast iron. The popovers were delicious with cinnamon butter. The old fashioned had mulled spices type of flavor. I like it. Two in our party didn't dig it as much. Great service. We got to sit next to the fire on a very cold Friday night. Nice decor to the place. We will be back.

Garlic clove in the prime rib

2 stars because the place was ok, wife said it was enjoyable. Had a 10 oz prime rib special was decent. Full review below: Our host greeted us nicely, host was also our waitress. -Waters arrived promptly iced tea not so much. Ordered the Saturday special prime rib 10oz with vegetable side and side salad with blue cheese dressing. -Salads arrived promptly, salads were all greens no lettuce. -1 -prime rib 10oz arrived in delayed, looked presentable, medium cook temp. Was hard to cut, could have been smoked longer, found a full garlic clove in rib, meat was very tissuey. -1 -side carrots were ok, half were burnt, broccoli was hard to eat, over done. -1 -utensils seemed low grade, stake knife didn't cut well. Would like to see upgrade. -atmosphere was casual, baby was crying, goldfish tank wasn't impressive. Atmosphere needs work. 2 specials was about $70 with tip. Felt like the meat should have been a grade better at this price. Would pay more if the food was better. Overall a pleasurable experience. Wouldn't recommend to a friend. Would try a different entree in future . Pretty decent for small town Wisconsin!

Brown sugar old fashioned

Cozy inviting place with consistently good food and service. Enjoyed fine meals two nights in a row. An old fashioned, soup and popovers are the right start. Cheese curds super. Walleye one night, rib-eye the next, both excellent.

We enjoyed our drink at the bar and then we had a delicious meal. The salad and popovers were a great way to start our meal.

The wait at the table was longer than we anticipated but luckily for us, there were some bar seats available. The bartender at the moment was Cameron. He gave us the rundown on the food and drinks and made several recommendations. We started off the evening with the Don Corlone. It was very tasty and also an Andorran Martini. Both drinks were delightful and were semi-sweet but not too sweet. The mixture of the Don Corlione had a perfect blend of citrus and sweetness. We then ordered the pastry puff poppers and they were amazing. The sauce complemented the pastry puffs and the filling left you wanting more. To finish the night we ordered tiramisu, cheesecake, and some bubbles. Thank you Cameron for the amazing service and experience we hope to be back again soon.

It always seems like there is a really relaxed vibe and the low lighting and heated bar really add to this experience. I used to think that The Abbey was just a bar (by no means a bad thing!) but I stopped in for lunch and had a spectacular pulled pork sandwich a few days ago. Dare I say it... The best pulled pork sandwich in downtown Menomonie?! The sauce sounds like it would be weird because there is mustard in it but I can confirm that it is delicious and really makes the sandwich. Props to The Abbey for having a limited menu and having a few really good dishes instead of a bunch of average bar food. Apart from the atmosphere, food and staff there are really good drink specials at The Abbey as well! Every day there is a near unbearable special. When school is in session these deals are definitely taken advantage of by the Stout students. If I had to credit this place for just one thing it would be that the building itself is such a relaxing place. No flashing lights, no overly loud music and no amateur DJ screaming at the top of their lungs like other bars in Menomonie. Even yet, if inside is a little too much you can always step out onto the patio. If you're looking for a relaxed cocktail in Menomonie this is your place.

And just when you think your whole day is shot because the slaw has broccoli (we know that Wisconsinites loathe anything that did not have parents) bam - there's bacon in it! My dog enjoys the back patio where she can chill and dream about all the wonderful smells that waft from the kitchen. The sandwiches are amazing. The drinks are made well and the free chaser is like a prize my liver didn't know it won.

I consider myself a "obsessed foodie " so I was pleased when Cory the chef came out of the kitchen and walked around the dining room. We were having a cocktail at the bar so we waved him over to ask what he recommended . I took his advice and ordered the scallops. They were cooked perfectly. Very tender and paired really well with the roasted corn and bacon. The whipped feta was very cold, which was interesting, but the flavor was tangy so it offset the richness of the bacon and scallops. The beef tenderloin was delicious cooked perfect medium rare. The broccolini was a little tough and the blue cheese sauce could have been a little thicker. It was kind of runny. I will be back to try more items on the menu. Excited the restaurant is open again.

The Char was great but the navy bean veggies underneath were so salty they were not edible. Hopefully these are things that can be improved. Probably won't return for the food.

This was while multiple other parties who arrived after us were served their food, ate, paid and left. It was quite obvious they forgot to submit the order or the kitchen lost the ticket. These things happen and I would never fault someone for an accident when they acknowledge and apologize. But they acted like nothing was wrong when I asked (after 35 minutes of waiting), and I was also quite surprised that they didn't offer any discount or food while we waited. The food was good, but definitely not worth the wait or the $65+ bill for 4 people just ordering breakfast and nothing else. Sadly may be our first and last time here, even though we had heard great things about it.

It had sliced ham which was a little hard to cut through and the cheddar cheese was very sharp. The sourdough bread was good. My husband had the biscuits and gravy which he said wasn't very hot. My daughter in law said the hash browns were very good.
