Great little spot to come and stock up on booze. If you're like me and on vacation from CA and didn't realize you couldn't just buy alcohol at any grocery store in downtown Vancouver, then this is the spot for you! I was able to load up on my Tito's, Sauvignon Blanc, and beer. Fair enough prices and friendly cashier. Huge tip: the store is not visible from the street. The whiskey selection is just plain bad. Not limited, not disappointing--bad. A few basic bottles, almost no variety, and nothing that would interest anyone who actually enjoys whiskey. For a liquor store, you'd expect at least a decent bourbon and whiskey section, but it feels like they put zero effort into it. Yesterday evening, me and a group of my friends were harassed by St. Regis Fine Wines & Spirits. Me along with a group of 6 other friends visited this place last evening. Mind you one of our friends was a minor (18 years old) and while it was wrong on our part for not prohibiting him from entering the store initially, the situation that followed was unbelievable. As we started picking out our alcohol, my 18 year old friend just stood by. He was in no way interested in purchasing alcohol. That's when a south asian employee asked us to show our IDs, as we did. As soon as she found out we had a friend underage, she said what we were doing was illegal. At first we were taken back, but then it hit me. She thought we were purchasing alcohol for him. Now, we never had the intention of providing alcohol to our 18 year old friend, though it's completely understandable if you do not believe us. As a liquor store, you have the right not to serve alcohol if you suspect suspicious behaviour. Fair enough. But instead, this woman decided to harass us in every way possible. She threatened us by stating the owner of the liquor store would, and I quote, "Will grab you guys by the neck and drag you out" Unfortunately, the other male employee did not interfere with the situation. She then threateningly asked "Want me to search your bags?"... She addressed this to everyone but especially a female friend of mine she previously had identified was over the legal age. We were shocked by her disrespect and unprofessional behaviour. Since my friend was 18, she could have told him to leave the store or kick us all out. WE WOULD HAVE BEEN FINE BY THAT! What is unacceptable, however, is her unjustified abuse and threats. She then warned us to "Never come here ever again." We didn't argue with a soul nor was our voice was ever raised, however, we cannot say the same for the her, the south asian employee wearing yellow. Now to make things clear, this aren't mere allegations been thrown around, these are experiences backed by all seven of us. In order to protect future customers, we have filed an in-detail complaint, reported to LCRB regarding this incident, as well as the Better Businesses Bureau. We hope St. Regis at Granville take this situation as seriously as we do. As a liquor store, it is your duty to protect your customers and treat each individual with respect. I'd strongly recommend anyone reading this to choose a better liquor store until the staff learn to treat their customers with respect. I would've loved to talk to the manager or the owner myself but I fear we are far beyond that. read more

Open until 11 pm. It's very clean, bright, and the staff are always nice and greet you upon arrival. Close to the Bay Downtown, it's almost hidden as you need to take a left at the Granville entrance (when heading for the sky train) then take the stairs down and it's on your right. It is a bit pricy, as most cold beer and wine stores are, but it's cold, convenient, and sells everything you could want when in need of an alcoholic beverage. read more

We were looking for a specialty alcohol shop to fine Canada craft beers that we could take to our hotel room and this place came up on Yelp. It said it was in the St. Regis Hotel but it's actually located down the stairs next door in the Granville Station. It's not a huge store but decent sized. They had a good mix of beer, wine and hard liquor which was well organized. The prices seemed a little pricier but not by much and you're probably paying for convenience. No one really said anything to us as we walked around and they didn't look too friendly. They didn't have much beer that you could buy without getting a six pack. We ended up getting to large cans of Mill St Brewery vanilla porter which was pretty good. If you need some hard liquor, a six pack or just a bottle of wine...a convenient place to grab and go. read more

You had a long meeting at work. You're exhasted and need to pick up a bottle of wine for your dinner. St. Regis is right inside Granville Skytrain station, how very convenient. Just a quick walk away from the ticket machines so it'll only take a few minutes. Great for those late nights when all the liquor stores are already closed too! read more

Directly connected to Granville SkyTrain station, this is the main transfer point between the Expo and Canada Lines. Very easy to get in and out without delay to your transit journey. It is on the smaller end of liquor stores, but more than sufficient as I am just picking up a bottle of vodka. Open later than government liquor stores. read more

A liquor store that is underground! I think this is right below the Hudson condo complex, and is on the walk to and from the Granville Skytrain Station. It's a quiet store, meaning that there was not a lot of peeps in the store, even during lunch hour. The store itself is very clean and brightly lit, with a good selection of beer, wine and spirits. The downside, as you may have guessed, is price. What can you do when the BC gov't does not give retailers and restaurants a bit of a break? Not a whole heck of a lot except to charge a bit of a premium. At this store, it looks like it's anywhere from $2-$9 depending on whether it is wine or spirit. An underground room always scores extra points with me. Possibly because: a) I like to drink before noon, and being underground lets me pretend that it's evening outside. b) I'm a species evolved from an earthworm or mole variety. c) Underground is a novelty for me (After living in Florida and Texas with limestone grounds that don't allow for basements) The server was new, but very nice. She wasn't able to name all the beers on tap, but she went through at least 10, and I had plenty of options. We had a large group (20+) , but we were able to reserve the downstairs room. The upstairs looked nice too, with some intimate tables. I tried the nachos (one of my life staples) and they were great. They come in a heaping pile. A little overwhelming at first glance, and definitely something to be shared. A large bowl of sour cream and salsa ( a little more like pico de gallo than salsa, but a good flavor) accompany the heaping pile of chips. read more

How convenient is it to have a liquor store in the skytrain area? Dangerously convenient. If the Donnelly bars had a liquor store - this is what it would look like, minus the douchebaggery, cuz the staff were super funny and nice. I learned that you are not allowed to open your alcohol IN the store, but they will gladly wrap it up for you in a nice brown paper bag for you. Be warned though! As soon as you step back onto the city streets of Seymour and/or Granville, I guarantee you there will be one cop on every street corner excitedly awaiting you to step out there and take a big swig from the bottle you just bought so they can laugh in your face and pour your drank out on the street in front of everyone. This is why you have to walk away from the liquor store first. St. Regis has a pretty decent selection of beer and wine and also some of the hard stuff and a few mixes (like Clamato) if you are actually going somewhere where you can mix drinks - which I was by the way, I was just really thirsty, and couldn't wait. St.Regis is very conveniently located underground, in the Granville Street Skytrain station and carries a decent selection of, you guessed it, fine wine and spirits, along with a variety of the usual and unusual brew. I live in the building above and it's very convenient for me to grab what. I need when I have friends over. The prices are standard cold beer and wine store prices you pay a little more but I am happy to pay for the convenience.
