The worst Mexican food I have ever had. We were there around 4 for lunch and it wasn't busy. Our food came out cold. There was no flavor in the enchilada ranchera sauce, and they only use dark chicken meat. I asked for shredded chicken and I got thick dark meat that was pink inside. Not even sure if it was chicken. We regretted eating it, when we should have gone somewhere else. Don't waste your time here, go to the original Mexican restaurants in Buda. If you want flavorless, cold, chain food, then you'll be happy here. Over priced bland food. They serve bag corn chips instead of fresh tortilla chips as well. read more

The one in Austin is much better. This location desperately needs new management, cooks and waiter training! The food was not that good and the wait time was way too long for only a few people in the restaurant. I don't know if the owner is onsite or not, but maybe needs to look into this before his business goes under. There are a ton of negative reviews about this place on next-door.com here in Buda. Its up to the owner to turn this place around. It can happen, if they pay closer attention to the reviews. I believe in second chances so maybe I will try this place again after 30 days. Passed by Buda and stopped to get some Mexican food. My husband and I ordered the Huevos Rancheros plate and the quesadilla plate. Everything was delicious and the staff was attentive and friendly. The restaurant was also beautiful aesthetically. read more

This place is awesome! Super quick and great service. We asked for their hottest salsa and they gave us two different hotter salsas in addition to their regular. All three were very tasty! The food was exceptional, traditional Mexican food. We've looked long and hard in Texas for traditional Mexican food (not tex-mex) and this delivered! Ate at the Buda location 7/1/18. I read the reviews beforehand and knew what to expect, telling my wife we had about a 50-50 chance of getting hot food. The reviews were pretty close. My Chorichicken Burrito was tasty but lukewarm. The wife's Guadalajara Plate had to be sent back, however, as it was cold. They then forgot to bring it back out and we had to ask for it again. The other couple's food was also no better than lukewarm. My wife's tea was refilled and no ice was in the glass. We did not ask for any adjustment to our bill, but the manager stated that she was going to take care of all of the table's meals. Most would assume we weren't going to have to pay for the meals, which I thought was a little over the top. When the check arrived, though, we were given 50% off our meals. It's not that this wasn't fair, but don't say something and do another unless it's to the customer's benefit. We won't be heading back anytime soon unless we're with a crowd and lose the vote. read more

So, I was super excited when I saw a new mexican restaurant was being built so close to my home. I heard mixed reviews from my neighbors when it first opened, so I thought I'd wait and give them time to get going. So, today I went for lunch. I ordered the Chicken Monterrey (my favorite dish from when I lived in Fort Polk) with an unsweet tea. The chickent breasts had been pounded flat and therefore, were pretty dry. The cheese had burnt arount the edges, giving the dish a burnt taste. The veggies were cooked really well on top. The rice and beans were bland, with no flavor. The chips and salsa were average, although halfway through eating them I found a pretty gross looking chip and abruptly loss my appetite for chips and salsa. I've attached a picture of said chip, it looks like bugs were cooked into it, although I truly don't know what the black stuff is. The highlight was the staff. Everyone was very welcoming and attentive, so I gave them an extra star, otherwise it would've been a 1 for food. read more

11/10/2019 - had an amazing experience here at this restaurant. My first time here! All I have to say is that the barbacoa is one of the best barbacoas that I've tasted in a long long time! Doesn't compare to any other restaurant I've been to. You want homemade barbacoa and not from a box heated up and put in taco . The menudo I had was not bad. Just tried it for the first time and we had a good experience. Food was hot and tasty, service was quick! Overall a good experience. It was also fun to hear a live Mariachi band (7-8 member band!), my twin toddlers loved it! I can tell they are working hard to work out the kinks. We ordered Fajitas for 2, chicken and beef $30 was a little pricey and the chicken sucked, it was dry and tasteless, they were cool about sending it back and replacing it with beef though. Foods good. Service too. Vibe is warm and family friendly and the lounge is a great place to hang. Why only 3 stars? Because they only serve Sutterhome wines. The response to my enquiry on why is 'We don't sell much wine.' Yep, exactly, but if you offered at least one or two decent reds and whites I promise you would sell more wine. I took a group of eight for lunch on the 12th. The waitress was friendly and said she had worked for Jalisco's in another location for seven years. I had read previous posts, so figured we were in good hands. I am a big fan of Jalisco's and have been going there for several years. It took a long time for our order to arrive even though we were there before the lunch rush, but everyone enjoyed the meal. My wife and I both thought that the taco meat was really outstanding, much more flavor than many other places. I enjoyed the Chimichanga, although it may have been waiting in the service area a little too long and had gotten a little soggy. Also all of the tacos that were ordered tasted great, but the shells had gotten soggy and fell apart when picked up to eat. We definitely will be back because we know they will work out the growing pains quickly, hopefully. read more

I called to place an order at 5:25. They were very polite and accommodating on the phone. I was told it would be 45-50 minutes. We arrived at 6:15 (50 minutes later) and pulled into curbside pick up. We called in and we're told they would bring it out soon. We watched multiple people come and go over the course of 15 minutes when were then told they were just starting on our order and it would be 15-20 minutes. We waited 20 minutes while still multiple people came and went with other orders. After 20 minutes I went inside to see what the hold up and after they looked around for about 5 or 10 minutes, I was told they had given our order to someone else. If we would wait ANOTHER 20 minutes we could get our order as they would start on it now. I agreed. After about 25 minutes we received our order. At this time it was 7:35 - over an hour after we had arrived at the restaurant and over two hours after we placed our order. I asked if we could get any sort of compensation for our inconvenience and was told we could have a complementary queso or flan. This was an order for 6 people. Very disappointed. read more

This place is outstanding! Hostess greeted us with smiles as soon as we got in the door. Sat us quickly. We had chips and salsa almost as soon as we sat down and a waitress to take our drink order before I even got my jacket off. Our appetizer was out in minutes. Food order came out so quick we hardly had a chance to eat the yummy appetizer. Food was hot, fresh and delish! I never ran out of drink. There was a lady constantly walking around making sure we didn't need anything. Service was unbelievably great. The restaurant itself is very nice, spacious and clean. My husband an I ate here for the first time last night. We were seated right away by a very nice hostess, our waiter was very nice as well. We got warm chips with our salsa, which is always nice. He got the chicken chimichangas an I got chicken Mole plate pretty quick after ordering. The food was hot an fresh. Mole sauce was perfect , nice an thick, this one was a lil sweet but I enjoyed it very much. I love that they cut up the chicken breast for it. Makes it easier to eat. My husband didnt speak the entire meal, which means its was good LOL , an we both wiped our plates clean. I like Mexican food but I love Jalisco's version of Mexican food. I don't know what seasoning they use that is different but I usually have leftovers almost every time I eat out....not at Jalisco's. My teenage son usually gets to enjoy my leftovers but he has yet to enjoy Jalisco's. Lol It is a little pricier than the usual Buda fare but I think the quality is comparable to the price. read more

WOW! I love this place, the art work is amazing, and the environment is clean and quiet. Although our server did not ask for drinks until we reminded her, the service was good as well. AND! The food and margaritas were phenomenal of course! We came at around 2/3ish and both orders totaled to be $23, including the margarita; my mother had fajitas and I got the two taco plate with beans and rice. The only thing I wish was included with both meals was guacamole, cheese, and sour cream (you had to pay extra for those items). But! I will definitely come back here in the future! read more

Finally tried Jalisco's and was disappointed. The place looked really nice when we walked in. We were sat quickly and given chips and salsa quickly. The waitress was nice but at times during the meal absent for refills. I ordered an appetizer which was cold and then later received a cold entree. At one point I had to take my kids to the restroom and there were giant puddles of water on the floor, I'm not sure if it came from the sink or toilet. I wouldn't have minded paying the higher prices for their food since I live in Buda and it saved me time driving to Kyle (Casa Garcia's) but next time I'll make the drive. read more
