I was craving Jamaican and to be honest , there arent many good Jamaican spots in the area. The real good ones are in PG county. I read the reviews and the reviews were kind of mixed. I ordered online and took a chance. I ordered my usual Jamaican favorite cusine. Ox tail. I use this measure to see how good a Jamaican restaurant is. I ordered a beef patty, coco bread and ox tail. My rice was suppose to be plain white rice, not with beans. :( The beef patty tasted like a commercial brand. It was good, but it tasted like the kind you get from the grocery store. In fact it was the only decent item that I had ordered. The rice tasted like it had been sitting for a while. I ordered small portion of ox tail. I found it to be okay. I was given small pieces of oxtail, Im assuming that I got the bottom of the pan. I got maybe 4 pieces. Small pieces! The gravy was good but not rich and saucy as Im used too. The coco bread was ok, it didnt taste home made. It tasted like it came from a bag and it was reheated. The veggies were ok. The service was good, however they are expensive for what you get. I love supporting small businesses, but it didnt do it for me. I really wanted to love their ox tail, but its too expensive for the portions that you get, and it wasnt seasoned as I was expecting it to be. It's been a long time since I've been to a Jamaican restaurant (used to go to the Jerk Pit in college park), and I'm glad to say this spot is great. I ordered the Jerk Sandwich which had good flavor. Some parts of the chicken were dryer than other parts, but overall, it was enjoyable. Also ordered a Jamaican beef patty and it hit the spot. I can eat three of those in a row. Crumbly and hot, it was very good. I called ahead for pickup and the food was ready in 20 mins. Def need to try the other items they have. read more

First a review of my experience and then a few comments about the 1-star reviews. I am a regular on the Schaeffer Farms mountain bike trails and I have regularly enjoyed getting food at La Casita after a nice trail ride, however today I was in the mood for something different. I stumbled upon Jamaica Mi Crazy and decided to give it a try. Many times when I go to a new place that is owner-operated, I ask them "what should I order if you want me to come back again?" (meaning, give me your best dish). In this case it was oxtail with peas and rice and cabbage. After coming back to pick it up, I decided to take a little taste in the car before driving away, I expect ed to take just one bite, but then...."WOW!" It was so good that I sat in the driver's seat and ate the entire take away box! The oxtail was succulent, the peas and rice had completely flavor and the cabbage was also very well seasoned. Overall a 10/10 and a great meal. I will definitely be back to try some of the other dishes. Now, that being said...I can see why there are some 1-star reviews. It is a small take away restaurant that is less than a year old. I assume they have been hard hit as wave after wave of the pandemic impacted not only the flow of customers, but also the prices of staple ingredients. In fact, the menu prices had just gone up (as there was paper covering the original prices). I empathize with the owners and I am sure at times they have stretched the food a bit longer than they should, so I recommend that new customers address this up front with the owner and ask "what is fresh?" I will encourage the owner to reply to all negative yelp reviews as any good owner should to show that they are listening and improving their service. I will also encourage the owner to have some lower-priced options on the menu. You can go to Mi Castia and get a $4 pupusa which is definitely enough for a meal for one person. in this economy every restaurant needs to have a go to staple that will bring customers in and make them feel good about the value that they are getting for their money. I've ordered small portions from here with no problem . I placed a large order for $137 for the first time for a birthday for my mom and I regret it. The rice and peas takes almost spoilt, the collard green was grainy like sand. Which I would return it for refund but they've lost my business. The only good thing was the jerk chicken and cabbage. read more

I ordered small oxtail which came with 2 sides. Unfortunately they were out of cabbage so I ordered rice & peas and plantain. I added a curry chicken patty as well. Flavor is 8/10. The oxtail was tender and moist but the flavor was lacking a bit. Plantains tasted off as if they were reusing the oil they were fried in. The chicken patty was phenomenal. Def recommend. read more

Food was very expensive. Looks really good though. Curry chicken was tasty but portions are very very small. Jerk was also good. Oxtails portion gives you 4 oxtails that are super fatty and small. The food wasn't bad, I ordered a large and for that price I felt it definitely wasn't worth it. I also would like to know upfront there is a convenience charge for using my CC especially when you don't take cash. I swiped my card and the screen pops up with a tip option. I wanted to select no tip, not because I don't tip but because I had cash for the tip. I tried to hit no tip 4 times didn't work. I hit the 15% option and boom transaction processed... come on now really ??? Restaurant prices have understandably doubled since Covid, but give us what we pay for. I ordered a large curry goat with rice and peas, a coco bread, and a beef patty. I was told to come back in 10 minutes which was surprising since typically the food is already prepared. I was the only customer so that was not an issue. When I went back in, the man couldn't even remember what I had ordered; he had two orders bagged up. After I paid and he handed me my food, he didn't even say thank you! I guess that's expecting too much. When I got home, the coco bread was cold, as in it had been refrigerated (not typical). I had to toast the bread at home before eating it. The large order of curry goat, which cost $25, had only 5 small to medium pieces of meat, and the side salad had 5 small pieces of greens (I counted) and two grape tomatoes. And to top it off, the food was completely underwhelming, with minimal curry flavor! Don't waste your time, gas, or money. read more
