I stopped in while perusing Covent Garden, and I'm glad I did. Excellent flaky, flavorful patties (Jamaican empanadas). I bought spicy beef and jerk chicken. Both meats were seasoned to perfection. The spicy beef had the perfect amount of spice--not too spicy. The crust is very flaky, so you'll have a lap full of crumbs once you're finished. I ate the spicy beef outside the shop, and I'm munching on the jerk chicken patty as I type out this review. I haven't tried the banana bread I bought, but I'm sure it'll be good. For two large patties, banana bread, and a bottle of water, I paid just a little over 11£. Yummy! read more

This place was just there staring at us as we were enjoying our lunch at Mother Mash. Without saying a word we knew we were coming here. We couldn't resist! and got 2 for the 3 of us after lunch. We wolfed it down so fast it actually disappeared. In retrospect should have gotten 6 of them, one each for now and one each for later. My wife is from Queens Flushing New York and now is here with me in San Francisco so we travel and search for it when she craves it. We even risk our lives by going into sketchy (car jacking) neighborhoods. BTW the ones in New York have gone to hell. Besides trying to make them by myself this place has the best so far. read more

I was in the West End a couple of days ago with a friend and and was feeling a bit peckish, but just wanted something light and as we were walking, we came across the Jamaican Patty Co. As a fan of Caribbean food, especially Jamaican, I thought I'd give it a try, so I got a jerk chicken patty. The price was quite a bit more than I thought it would be, but that's the West End for you. The taste was good, but I think I'd rather now just stick to jerk chicken as a proper meal with rice and peas. Nice little place, good service and the pattys are fine. read more

This place was a surprise! My wife was in line for the hot chocolate across the street and I bought one of their spicy beef patties on a whim, and DAYUM that thing hits. Mrs. G had seen this store when visiting London recently - so yesterday we decided to make a quick stop for a bite before leaving for our mid afternoon train home from London. I used to live in Kingston, Jamaica (Chemistry Prof in the 1970's) and I grew to LOVE Jamaican patties, ginger beer and (of course) rum! I am going to make this short and sweet the patties here are delicious. I came here specifically for the jerk chicken patty but unfortunately I came 15 minutes before closing and they were out. Instead I was able to get the beef patty and the regular chicken patty. The crust around the patty was very flavorful with the perfect consistency of flaky and moist. The meat was also seasoned well with both patties. Overall this is a must try as a snack or if you'd like I'd suppose a whole meal. The patties are also a bit larger than normal which is also a plus. I love this place! We found this walking near Trafalgar Square a couple years ago and were enticed by the free samples. I don't think they've raised the prices since then. For five pounds you get a patty, a drink (ginger beer if you want something with a bite!), and a big bag of plantain chips that I snack on through the next day. I would leave 0 stars if I could. I came into this place smiling and I left feeling quite hurt by the hostility that me and my friends experienced. I asked if I could have a knife so I could share my food with my friend, and they offered to cut it for me. On our way out, my friend dropped her napkin. I asked for another napkin and the lady who seemed to be in charge said no because "they've already been nice" to me for cutting my food in half. At first I thought she was kidding, but she wasn't. Her tone was so hostile and I've never experienced such terrible customer service. I just wanted one napkin. One. I told her that I never meant to offend her and she did not care. My friends came in to defend me and I quickly left the store. As soon as I left, people outside the store apologized for them and offered us napkins. I honestly felt bad for the workers that worked under that main boss. One looked apologetic and couldn't say anything while the boss was treating me so terribly. I had a terrible experience here. Fantastic patties!!!! Didn't even know this place existed!! I tried the chicken patty from the sample (was good) but then tried the Jerk Chicken - amazing!!! £3.95 for a massive portion so you can't go wrong. May I also suggest the rum cake...£2.50 a slice (a bit steep, but it is laced with rum). They also sell the cake in a beautiful presentation box (£12.50 - a bit too much if you ask me, but then again it is good. Could it not be £8 perhaps - slightly more reasonably). Oooh, I LOVE jamaican beef patties. One thing I really miss about NY pizzerias is ordering jamaican beef patties and knishes (with mustard). I love the little shops along new row and delighted to see a new place. Finally got around to picking one up for lunch today and sat in front of the national gallery in the gorgeous sunny day. I ordered the spicy beef one and it looks soooo good. Really big and the pastry looks so flaky. Like the ones you get in NY pizzerias are like the standard ones that are mass produced. I suppose comparing the taste test between the two, the one from JPC definitely has good quality ingredients compared to the ones I'm used to but lacked a bit of a kick or punch in flavor. It was almost a bit bland. The pastry was nice and flaky but also a little on the bland side and also greasy. I'm willing to try potentially the curried goat or jerk chicken one but couldn't help but feel just a little underwhelmed... especially coming in at 4 pounds for one, feel it should be more like 2. Lovely independant business in the heart of London serving the most delicious Jamaican patties. The pastry is flakier than you usually get on a Jamaican patty, but this just seems to make them more delicious. I had the curry goat patty which just melted in my mouth and was pretty spicy without being over the top. I also tried a little of the jerk chicken which was good though not quite as spicy as I expected (probably so that it will appeal to a wider crowd).
