There are times you won't want to hear what he has to say, but that is because he will not drag you down an unrealistic rabbit hole that drains your piggy bank. He is humble and has no problem referring you somewhere else if what your pet needs is beyond his expertise. We use him for most minor surgeries, spay, neuter, exams, vaccinations, etc. For our OFA X-Rays, we use Dr Minor in Templeton as he has the most up to date machines. For weekend or after hours emergency service, we go to Atascadero Pet Hospital. Otherwise, during normal business hours, Dr Aarons can handle most situations.

I could do a drop off which meant leaving her for hours at double the regular office visit fee of $60! While I've used both clinics and they were good ones, it was unacceptable to wait that long not to mention the cost$ Finally, I searched for the Veterinarian who spayed a barn cat I adopted through a rescue organization last year, Dr. Aarons at Oak Country Veterinary Services in Paso Robles. I was relieved to get an appointment the next afternoon. Missy and I were welcomed by Receptionist, Becca and Dr. Aaron's rescue dog, Ollie. Missy's ear infection was treated right away and she had a spa type "Peticure," surprisingly at no extra charge. I've been charged $35 for a nail trim at another office. BIGGEST SURPRISE - The Bill! Missy and I are new Fans of Dr. Aarons. His rates for dental care for my 10 year old MinPin is going to be very reasonable compared to the quote from the two other Veterinarian offices. Hang onto your cash and make an appointment. By the way.......Dr. Aarons is also an author and I'm enjoying his Podcasts immensely.

Most importantly, they don't pressure or try to upsell you like I've noticed happens at other veterinary practices. My dog is a nightmare french bulldog. It took four of them to hold him still for his allergy shot. I was so embarrassed but they were kind and patient with him and reassured me that he wasn't over the top, even though he was lol. The doctors went above and beyond to solve an underlying issue with his recurring diarrhea and it didn't break the bank. Im so glad I discovered them. I highly recommend these kind, caring doctors and their amazing staff.

Since he passed (RIP friend) I brought my Great Dane in to be seen and have some vaccines he was due for. I was told an annual exam was due and necessary before any shots could be administered. He also had a sore on his hind leg that concerned me which is mainly the reason I made the appointment initially. After my poor geriatric dog was there all day I received a curt, and rude voicemail demanding I return his call from someone name Dr. Konrad. When we spoke he talked to me as if I was a child. Said the dog needed antibiotics and that the sore most likely needed to be opened and drained. When I asked if that meant putting the "under" and giving IV Antibiotics or just oral medications ... he gave me the definition of "oral". what a jackass. When I finally picked up the dog, not only was an annual exam NOT completed... neither were any vaccines. Any questions I asked the Dr at pickup were answered with "I don't know" he couldn't tell me what the sore was: an abscess, or something deeper and offered no course of action other than "call us in 2 weeks" THATS WHY I BROUGHT HIM IN!!! I'll never return after being spoken to this way and seeing my dog handled the way he was. They lost a loyal customer with many animals.

Title: Severe Safety Oversight and Ethical Concerns I am…read morereposting my review of this clinic to alert other pet owners of a serious medical safety issue. I brought my dog in for gagging, and despite me asking for a refill of his seizure medication during the visit, the vet prescribed a new drug where seizures are a known side effect. My dog suffered three grand mal seizures as a result of this oversight. The Medical Failures: * Initial Misdiagnosis: During the visit, I was told everything was fine. Two hours later, the vet called to say the radiologist actually found a heart murmur, a gallstone, and tracheal issues. * Lack of Urgency: It took eight days for the hospital manager to return my calls regarding these life-threatening errors. The NDA Offer: When the clinic finally responded, they offered a full refund--but only on the condition that I sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) and delete my negative review. I have declined their offer because the safety of other animals is more important than a refund. Please be extremely cautious and double-check any medications prescribed here, especially if your pet has a pre-existing condition like epilepsy.

We were visiting the area for a few weeks and we brought our dog. About a month before coming, our…read moredog had been in an emergency clinic for a calcified stone that was stuck in her ureter and it had been removed. Our dog had finished her medications and seemed ok before we left, but once we arrived at our rental she started having issues again. She seemed to be in discomfort and was unable to urinate. We contacted the emergency vet we had taken her to originally and they said they would get back to us but by morning, no vet had called so we called again and then started looking for a vet in the area we were staying for an urgent appointment. We called the three closest vets in this area and this clinic was the only one who had any availability. They said they could see us the following day so we scheduled the appointment. Afterwards, the original vet got back to us and ordered some prescriptions for our dog which we were able to pick up locally and get started. Unfortunately, late that afternoon, our dog started bleeding from her urethra. We then contacted the closest emergency vet and they said they were currently overwhelmed and due to their distance, actually suggested we wait for our morning appointment. It was agonizing! We left early for the appointment at this clinic but still barely made it on time as it was not easy to find. It is in a residential neighborhood and it was not in the exact location our navigation system was giving us but we did eventually locate it. The facility was nice and clean and staff was very friendly. We were brought back into a room after only a few minutes of waiting and there seemed to be only one or two other patients there. We explained the situation to what I believe was a vet tech and about 5 minutes later the vet came in and we explained it to her again. She immediately stated our dog needed emergency surgery and that they could schedule it fortwo days later. We knew it was urgent and we would have to take care of it immediately. I just had a bit of a concern because no one ever looked at our dog or examined her in any way. I just did not feel particularly comfortable with the situation so I asked for an estimate to do the surgery and they provided us with an estimate of $3,428.77. Our dog is 12 and has had battled cancer and had multiple surgeries, dental work, etc, so I am familiar with estimates and it was odd to me that both the low and high total showed that same figure. That's not usually how it works. Based on the fact that no one actually looked at our dog, that estimate seemed high (even for an emergency) and the fact that they pushed for a surgery and had immediate availability, it all just felt a little odd and we went with our gut. We decided that even though we had paid thousands for a beautiful rental with a pool for the next few weeks that we should head home immediately to have our own vet do the surgery. We drove all night and brought her to our vet the following morning. They made space for us in their full day of appointments and examined our dog thoroughly. They then did an ultrasound with us present. They showed us the issue and said they would try and squeeze her into the surgery schedule the following morning. They completed the surgery for $1278.32. To be fair, they gave us a discount of $294 so in all honesty someone else having it done there would have spent closer to $1572 but that is still less than half the price and more importantly we felt seen and comfortable with the way they handled things. It's possible that this facility just has a lot of availability and they felt they didn't need to examine the dog. Its also possible that they rushed the estimate and just put the same total for the high and low amounts. As I said, the staff was nice enough but I am glad we chose lose out on the rental and have it done where we felt more comfortable. If you include the money we lost by leaving, it actually cost us more to go home and get it done but you have to trust your intuition and I am so glad we did.

EVERYONE was kind, soothing and eager to help. My 11 year old Chihuahua-terrier mix dislocated her hip, she was crying in pain, we were beside ourselves, unable to help her. My husband called around who was open on a holiday weekend, and we found Atascadero Pet Hospital. They immediately invited us in to their beautiful facility and put my baby under anesthesia and put her hip back in place. We took her home in a hip sling, and she did wonderfully. We only had to give her the pain medicine that they sent us home with the first and second night. Today was our follow up and the hip sling is off and now we all have to do is pray that keeping her contained for a few more weeks with careful handling, her hip will heal and not need further surgery. I just can't express how much gratitude I have to these kind people and how wonderfully they treated us. I especially want a shout out to a young man, I think his name is Juan, young man, very handsome and just so in tuned to everything we needed to hear and how to take care of her once we got her home. He went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and assured us that we could call anytime of day or night if something happened that wasn't right or if my pet was in pain. I can't tell you how much this meant to us. Monkey is healing. We are so relieved to know that there are experts out there that will help us and be kind to our animals. Of course, the surgeon and the vets were amazing as well, so thank you to them and thank you for the time that they also spent with us explaining our options. And I just want to add, that those inaccurate reviews of this wonderful facility are likely hyperbole. Being a healthcare provider myself, for humans, I know, you can't make everybody happy. And you can't make miracles happen every time. There are many variables to consider when making a recommendation about options for health, and quality of life. It may not be an easy fix, and it may not be the best for the pet. And sometimes that's hard to hear. And, quite frankly, healthcare even if it's for a pet, is quite expensive. It's part of being a pet owner (or human). I was actually quite amazed that my dog had full-on anesthesia and her hip put back in place and a sling placed for such a reasonable amount. It was even less than they had quoted us and, they didn't ask to do a bunch of bloodwork and everything else ahead of time. They just took her to surgery and put her hip back in. Amazing! I stand behind what I said, these people are very mindful and compassionate in the work they do.
