James, the owner is a great guy and very honest. Whenever you are there he makes you feel right at home. When talking to him you can tell he is not going to try and take advantage of you. I have taken my car there for oil change and tire rotation and the cost was very reasonable. My father took his truck there for some air condition work. They did what they had to and advised my father he may need to get it worked on. We brought it back after a few days and James said that he would need work on it but it is not needed because we do not use the truck that much. He did not try and pressure my father into anything. He did this again with the transmission on the truck. He told my father what was wrong but he could keep driving it for a long while before it would have to be fixed. Our car broke down while on a cross country road trip and we found ourselves at James Auto. They were very helpful and accommodating for us at 8am when we showed up. They did a quick diagnosis and found the closest part was a couple hundred miles away, but they assured us they could do the work. They drove us to pick up a rental car and promised the work would be done by the time we arrived back in town a month later. The car was kept safe in their locked lot the whole time we were away. When we picked the car up it had a flat tire, from sitting for 4 weeks. They changed the tire at no cost and we were on our way. Do Not bring your car here!!!! They will con you out of money. I paid over $300 for 2 sensors. My car didn't even last a month with the repairs. I tried contacting him and he told me to take my car elsewhere. He all of a sudden didn't have the technology to read the codes on my car. I would Not trust James. Don't start something you can't finish. He was not sincere at all and didn't fix the issue. If I could give zero stars I would. read more

The jury is still out on these guys. As other reviewers have stated they are very nice and seem sincere about getting your business... Just make sure you are not adding to their workload at 4:30. Excuses will be flying. Folks at work gave good reviews for these guys, but I was surprised to have such a large bill... +$1,100. And then at 4:30 I find a bigger antifreeze leak under my car than was there when I arrived. Two days later I see tranz fluid leaking too. I say, "the jury is out", cause I am not positive my leaks are all fixed. They did jump right on the tranz cooling line leak, I just don't know yet. 2 problems in less than a week??? I highly recommend this really friendly business. We're from out of town and chose this repair shop because it was open on Saturday morning. Ryan was able to slot in at the last minute a change of headlamp light globes. Although it took a while to look at the truck and quote the job, they were able to complete it much faster than the time suggested by the manual. I recently brought my Honda Odyssey to them because it was acting weird and had some warning lights on the dash. They got it in promptly, and for that I am grateful. However, I kept having to call them to ask about the status since they did not call me when they had new information. Also, they gave me the total after the work was done, but charged me $100 more when they ran my card. They said it was tax but when I picked up my keys and the receipt, it didn't match up. But the worst thing was that they diagnosed my car as needing 2 sensors, then they found that my oil was empty so they gave me an oil change, and said that should fix the problem. Then when I called back, they said I needed a new motor. I was confused and asked for more info but they just said that the new sensors didn't fix the problem and because I was out of oil, that meant that the engine was damaged and I needed a new one ($4500). They told me it was my fault for not getting an oil change on time, and said they had no idea whether my car would break down tomorrow or if it would be fine for years. I know enough about cars to know that oil doesn't just disappear, even without an oil change, and since there was no sign of a leak, something else must be going on, and I'd be crazy to give them $4500 more just on their very vague word. All in all, I spent $417 for nothing, and they could not give me any information except what the computer told them. I would have gotten the same information by going to AutoZone and running the codes myself. When I take my car to a repair shop, I expect to benefit from a mechanic's instincts, experience, and expertise. I got none of this and instead paid them to not fix anything. They didn't even reset my oil gauge, which I had to do myself. Very disappointed, and never going here again. read more
