I had my floodlights replaced and while they were replacing them they noticed my front bumper was very loose. They took it upon themselves to fix this for me which was so kind! Apparently it was hanging by a thread. There's no telling when it would have fallen off! They treat you like family and their pricing is extremely fair. They were very pleasant and handled a lot of customers quickly and efficiently. They put a list of the things I needed checked out and I left for a while. A couple hours later they called me and explained what needed to be done and how much it would cost per item. I told them what to work on and what nonessentials could be put off. I agreed on there pricing and go ahead. I left the car over the weekend and they called me Tuesday and said everything is complete and tested out. I brought my car into Hobbs and Sons and I was having problems with the back up camera not working and my touch screen wasn't responding to touch. The clock lost the accurate time. I asked them if it was the battery, many times, and the told me the battery had a "great charge. You couldn't get a better charge than it had" and there was nothing wrong with it. I woke up the next morning to a dead battery. I also had them looking at my car as it had a grinding sound in the back passenger tire and they told me it was the dust shield and wouldn't cause a problem. They put a screw in it to hold it in position better because it lost clips, due to the wind, while I was driving down the interstate. They said there wasn't anything to worry about. It would be annoying, but wouldn't leave me stranded. Well, it kept grinding and I brought it in again and they told me that it wasn't anything bad or damaging to my car. I recently had another mechanic remove the dust cover because I was tired of the increasing sound from "it" and Hobbs and Sons was always to busy to look at it. I found out it wasn't the dust cover at all. If they had checked more thoroughly and listened more carefully, they would have found that it was the pinion barring going bad and it would have, in fact, left me stranded! I brought my car into Mikes Auto and they found the issue immediately and had it fixed in a matter of days. I will not go back to Hobbs and Sons, they don't take you seriously. read more

They told me it took them only 45 minutes to check my vehicle and I left it here at 9:10am and they called me around 2:30-3 (I had a 9am appointment btw) they wanted to quote me almost 2 grand for everything they checked. I was told they were over charging me so I came back for my car. and when I came back to pick up my car they charged me $145.42 to even check the issues. I called around to other places in the area and they quoted me $20-$30 to check my vehicle. This place is not cheap, they are definitely over priced and I had two mechanics tell me that they were. Unfortunately, on June 14th my 73-year old mother took her Nissan Murano to Hobbs & Sons Garage in Mt. Juliet. She was overcharged nearly $800 for a brake job. Despite taking advantage of an elderly woman by charging nearly 3x the amount for brakes much more would result from her decision to visit this location. She picked up the vehicle and was told that the job was complete. Please keep in mind she often drives my children, her grandchildren in this vehicle while caring for them. On Tuesday, June 21st, I was driving her vehicle with her riding passenger home. On Hwy 99 I hit the brakes and the vehicle did not stop. I pushed them to the floor and had to swerve to avoid multiple vehicles and come to a stop. It has taken me until now to calm down to be able to write about this traumatic event and I am even more upset after calling to speak with the company. AAA was contacted and my mother and I were again inconvenienced having to change plans to wait on a tow and she demanded it go back to Hobbs and Sons to give them the opportunity to fix it. It was towed back there on June 22nd. I contacted the company and asked to speak with the owner, but was denied. I spoke with Johnathan who continuously apologized stating that "usually they don't hire kids to do the work" and admitted to the poor workmanship. He offered to correct the mistake stating that a part was not fully tightened, which caused the failure. One simple mistake could've cost us our lives or my children's lives if she had been driving them as she usually does. I requested a refund for the labor at minimum due to the poor workmanship. If I go anywhere for service and the job is not completed or incomplete I expect a refund. read more

Honest, down to earth and reasonable is my impression of Hobb's & Son Garage. Took my vehicle in because of a stalling issue hoping it would be something minor to repair. Hobb's & Son looked over my car and told me it would cost much more to repair than the car was worth (car was 18 years old). They didn't try to get me to get work done that would only have been a band aid fix. Appreciated that. Ended up finding a newer vehicle a few days later and they were able to accommodate me to check out the car I was thinking of buying. Got me in quick, looked over the car and hooked it up to a scan tool to check for any codes that may cause me problems. I can not recommend Hobbs and Son's enough. I was having some issues with my battery that led to a cost estimate for a new TPIM from Rhythm Automotive in Madison, TN at $1,900. I was recommended Hobbs and Son's by a friend so I called them right away. They told me to bring it in and a few hours later they called me and said I was good to go. I asked about the new TPIM and the entire problem was from a blown fuse. The car did not need a new TPIM and I was out of the shop around $100 for labor. read more

Mark Jr. fixed it in 1 day, less than 2 hours labor, said THE EGR HAD BEEN LEFT DISCONNECTED. HOBBS AND SONS - DISHONEST OR STUPID? BOTH! Hobbs is a place you can trust, which is always hard to find with mechanics. They are very friendly, knowledgable, and charge less than other places I've been to. They're also HONEST - someone tried to sell me new brake pads during my last oil change, so I went to Hobbs for a second opinion and they told me my pads were just fine. While they are more of a repair shop, they do offer oil changes at prices comparable to Valvoline, etc. Even if you live in Nashville, I highly recommend the drive to Mt. These are good, honest, hard working folks. If they tell you something, you can take it to the bank, unlike most of the chain stores like Firestone, Goodyear and the like I took my car to for years. I took my car to Hobbs & Son for an oil change & for them to check my transmission fluids. I was told that they were honest. He pulled my car into the garage & the guy came straight to me without popping the hood and told me I needed a new transmission. It was going to cost me thousands of dollars & he would give me his friends #. I said well cant you check the fluids. He said he wasnt going to bother with that cause he could hear that it was going out. So he still did my oil change which cost $50. I said $50? He said they only use the exspensive fluids. I paid and looked at my reciept and he charged me $20 for his labor. What a rip off? I left VERY UNHAPPY and looked online for a transmission place in MJ. I took it immediately to Middle TN Auto transmission specialist. I told them that I just needed my transmission serviced to make sure it has all its fluids and such & left my car. I stressed all day about it! I get a call at 4pm & its ready for pick up. I pick it up & theres NOTHING wrong with my transmission. I told them what Hobbs & Son told me that morning & they were shocked. Thanks for STRESSING ME OUT HOBBS & SON FOR NOTHING! You should not give your opinion about transmissions when YOU DONT WORK ON THEM! DONT TAKE YOUR CAR TO HOBBS & SON! read more
