We have been coming to Dr.Loo for 10years ! He's absolutely amazing and so personable

I came to Dr. Loo for suggestions on a ligament and bunion issue and knowing I was living an active lifestyle and proceeded to say surgery will be the answer. Will here I am 1 yr latter after surgery, with 50% less mobility, 50% less balance and walk with a limp now... for what? To get paid 6K for worsening my foot instead of improving it. I strongly suggest going to other avenues, like PT ect instead of getting surgery from Dr. Loo. This has been very challenging to accept and a huge regret on my part listening and taking his word that I would be better after surgery. The only thing better is HE got paid and I'm still paying payments on a fked foot. read more

Believe the reviews about the staff here being rude when calling the front desk, no one wants to help you and will make you feel like you know nothing about YOUR OWN HEALTH and will belittle you. Dealing with Nurse Jackie and this office has been a hassle. Never in my days have I felt this way to the point of tears and shaking in a doctor's office. Good luck! read more

Update to my scans. The lump ended up being a perianal abscess that had me in the ER a couple days after my original posting. Mayo Clinic admitted and treated me. In the past 11months I have still been a patient at Premier Family Care as Dr. Loo has always been nothing but kind towards me, even after my scathing review which was admirable. I have also had the pleasure of not having to interact with Nurse Jackie at all. My experience in this time frame has been a 10/10. I would recommend James D Loo as a primary knowing that there's likely a bad apple in the bunch of every company and nobody is perfect. Always advocate for your health and trust your body. read more

Jackie Fretto FNP and Dr Loo are great but, as most of us can attest, the front office makes or breaks a doctor's office. Sometimes, as wonderful as the medical staff is, we can't get past the bad experience in the front that turns us off of the whole practice. Nurse Practitioner Jackie Fretto literally saved my life. I had some pellets inserted in my hip at a hormone replacement clinic that I used for over 10 years on 7/26. The next day it was very swollen about the size of a grapefruit. they had me ice it. I went in the clinic on 7/29. They again just said to ice it. On Tues 8/1 I saw the owner of the clinic. She prescribed an antibiotic. I was in a great amount of pain and not feeling well in general. So, I went to Dr. Loo's office. Jackie took one look at it and immediately sent me to the ER. She called ahead and made arraignments for me to get in right away. She recognized right away that this was not right. Thank God for that move. The hospital told me I was septic, and they were not sure what would have happened to me had I waited any longer. 4 days in the hospital on a cocktail of antibiotics and wound treatment. They found the pellets were probably infected with a Staph bacterium. Due to her experienced and professional knowledge she knew exactly what to do and do it NOW! I've been a patient here since I moved to Chandler nearly 14 years ago. The vast majority of my time I've been treated by Jacqueline "Jackie" Fretto and she has done a wonderful job. I'm writing this post specifically because not long ago I had a very bad staphylococcus infection in my leg. Had she not identified my prognosis I would have gone septic and died. I was able to get to the ER in time and treated. There's a reason I choose this clinic and a reason I ask to be seen by Jackie every time. I was recommended to go here by a friend. I called to make my appointment. I know 100% for a fact they take my insurance. I call, the girly hat answers the phone gets my insurance information and says I'll check your insurance and call back. She calls back and says I called your insurance and had to go through all these hoops and we aren't covered by your insurance. I don't argue I just hung up and called my insurance and said can you call this office and tell them I'm covered 100%? so they did. In the end I don't want to go here. If the medical assistant is so lazy she doesn't even check my insurance just calls me and says sorry we don't take it,,, I can only imagine how she will relay messages from the doctor or how she'll handle my lab work. We'd been going to Dr. Loo for a few years and really liked him, however, on my last visit I informed the front desk that my insurance had changed when leaving after seeing the doctor. We are now on a Medicare Advantage plan and the front desk stated, "we do not take Medicare." They were downright rude about it. My wife called the office later that day and they treated her worse than they treated me. Bottom line, if you're 65 and getting close to 65, don't even bother with Dr. Loo. read more

Understanding Covid protocols, I knew to be flexible regarding my appointment. But after sitting over 30 minutes in my car waiting for someone, and being treated rudely by the insurance staff, I called the office to see if I was missing any information or needed to do something else before being seen. The lady on the phone hung up on me and the person who finally came out to check my temp and pulse ox were unapologetic and had no bedside manner whatsoever. Healthcare is definitely about the industry and not actually caring for people. As of this review that I've had plenty of time to write, I still am waiting to be seen...... my appointment time was 45 minutes ago. I'm still waiting in my car, with the AC running and gas at almost $6/gallon. read more

Dr. Loo has been my primary care doctor since moving to the valley. He came highly recommended by a coworker. His easy direct manner and interest in the whole picture of what is going on in your life set him apart from other doctors I have seen. Had not seen Dr. Loo for 10 years. Booked a Physical, and was in and out in 30min including tests. Amazing! no Drama, no Stress.

I came in here after having a bad experience at my last doctors office. Dr. Loo is by far my favorite doctor. He is so down to earth and fun to talk to. I found this doctor near my work via Yelp and Aetna, and was a little worried when I walked in; the TV in the waiting area had on Glenn Beck. Was I a little scared? Yes. However, the nice receptionist was kind enough to keep me there. The theme of everything is the Hawaiian Islands, which was nice and fairly relaxing. I waited a bit longer than I thought, but I wasn't in a hurry, so that was ok. The nurse taking my weight, blood pressure, etc was a little brusque, but nice enough, and then Dr. Loo came in. He's nice, believes what you say (I'm a 24 year old with arthritis, 3 surgeries behind me and 4 to go, yet most doctors can't seem to understand that it is painful for me to walk), and had good suggestions. He actually gave me a PT script instead of making me find an orthopedist out here. I really appreciated it. All in all, a good visit. Just loses one star for scaring me with Glenn Beck. read more

I have been going to Dr Loo for at least 15 or more years and today was the second time I have been unhappy with them. The first time was when I went in for a B12 shot and the girl giving me the shot was not able to dispose of the needle properly without getting herself with the needle. I had to go and get an HIV test and they NEVER called me with the result, even though I know I was ok.. A call would have been nice. Today I call and there are no doctors around till Monday to fill a prescription. Andrea told me it was not her fault that I did not pay attention to my medicine running low and that she did not appreciate me getting frustrated with her. Well I have never in my 45 years called an office where there are no doctors around for emergencies for days, although, she stated my situation was not an emergency. Oh wait, I forgot she is a doctor. Very unhappy and have been for awhile, they are getting to busy to take care of their current patients, if do not already go here, please use this review to stay clear. read more

I have been searching for a consistent primary physician - and I think I scored with finding Dr. Loo. Young doctor and really easy to talk to. The staff at the front desk are helpful and approachable. The best part about this office is that the Sonora Lab team are in a room tandem to the patient rooms which makes life simple when having to get quick samples as recommended by the doctor. It took a while to find a good primary care physician in AZ - hopefully this one can become my consistent go-to doctor! read more

I've only been one time, but he got me headed in the right direction immediately. He's kind and a good listener. He didn't make me feel crazy about my symptoms like previous docs. Dr loo is one of the few MDs left that will sit and talk with you face to face instead of at a computer. I like his office staff and never had to wait a ridiculous amount of time to see him. Usually if you call for an appointment you will typically.have to wait a maximum of a week. My only beef is if you need to cancel an appointment they do not have an answering service and have to call around their schedule not yours. I have been charged the fee for not canceling prior to appointment time but not without several attempts to call them on my part. read more

I called this office based on reviews I read here on yelp. When called I was greeted with "can you hold" I did for 25 minutes. A few times they holding call was picked up with a confused hello? They were obviously unorganized. When I finally reached someone they were very unhelpful, not giving any answers but one word. Did try to speak to Dr about staff issues - he was defensive and protective of his staff which i get but i expected that he would at lease listen to me regarding the course of events that led to my disappointment in his practice. He was quick to dismiss me which made me suspicious. He was very agitated with me for having an issue with his staff. Also, he was told that I had hung up on staff member and that was not true. I highly recommend Dr. Loo and his office. I was recommended to him by several friends and have since recommended to him to several others. When you call for a sick appointment the office staff tries to get you in right away. Recently I had to call the office several times about changing an appointment time while trying to work around my work schedule and the staff was very accommodating. I don't even think this deserves one star. I had a friend schedule a New Patient appointment for me and she actually misunderstood what my appointment was for in the first place. When I arrived I corrected them stating real reason I was there. I work at a doctor's office my self and this happens on a daily basis, not a big deal. We continue to help our patient's as much as possible. I ended up seeing Jackie, Nurse practitioner, and have never felt more embarrassed or bad about my self after the way she treated me. She was rude, and short, and with barely any further explanation or helping to at least refer me somewhere else she left the room leaving me to show my self out. Literally left their office in tears. Once I was outside she did come out and hand me a referral list but it was a little too late at that point. Was very disappointed. I heard great things about Dr. Loo but will never return, or at least not to see the Nurse Practitioner. read more

I was quite surprised today when I visited Dr. Loo. I have been visiting his office for 6 years now, and typically make an appointment with one of the Physician's Assistants because they're awesome, and it takes less time to see them, then the doctor. However, today I saw Dr. Loo, and he did not act in a way that I felt was helpful to the patient at all. In the times I've had him in the past, he has always been such a nice man, and today may have just been a bad day. Unfortunately, when I was talking to him, he made me feel as though he didn't believe me. I left getting absolutely nothing accomplished because I felt as though he really didn't believe what I was saying about how I felt. I came with some pretty serious symptoms and now I've left with the same, and no solution to help me recover. I definitely will not be going back to see Dr. Loo again, and will stick with the great Physician's Assistants! read more
