I popped in and asked to have the battery replaced. $12 and 5 minutes later I was set. Tony, the proprietor, is knowledgeable, expedient, and fair. He diagnosed another watch just by my description of it and quoted a rate to repair for less than anything else I've heard of in the past few months. Whatever your needs, I can't recommend him enough. And yes, it does smell like an old cigar shop (probably because it was an old cigar shop). Does this in anyway speak to the value, professionalism, or quality of it being a jewelry store and watch repair shop? No. Credit where merit earns it. Merit well deserved, at least in my opinion.

I will for sure be back the next time I'm at the Peabody. The only thing I might add is the first time I went into the store was on the previous Saturday. I had seen a ring (not the one I ended up buying on Tuesday) in one of the display cases in the lobby of the hotel. A different lady was working then around 4:30 in the afternoon and she was vacuuming when I went to the store to ask about the ring. She was very polite and offered to walk me back down to the display to see the ring. She allowed me to try the ring on but it was too small. She didn't offer any help on possible re-sizing and did not offer to show me anything else I might have liked that was similar. She just was quiet and put the ring back in the display so I thanked her and left. I would have ended up buying two rings from Gir while in Memphis if she had done either of those things. Thank you!
