When I arrived 15 minutes before hand for a melanoma excision I was told by a quite smarmy and rude receptionist that I had an appointment for Moh's surgery two days from now! This after days of robo calls "reminding" me of my appointment today. Go figure. When I told this to the receptionist she copped an attitude with me. (BTW, she's sits at the far right of the counter). In front of the entire waiting room I told her she had a terrible attitude. She just smirked and said have a good rest of your day. This clinic charges you for services you did not request. I requested an appointment with a…read moredermatologist. When I arrived, they had a nurse practitioner see me, who told me that she wasn't qualified to see me and that I needed to see a dermatologist, which is what I had requested. She then told me they had a dermatologist on staff and would make an appointment for me with this person. When I arrived, the doctor told me he wasn't a dermatologist, but had some knowledge in dermatology. However, he had no knowledge of the service I was requesting. So, once again, I was lied to about the service I would be provided. My suggestion would be to avoid this clinic. If they aren't able to honestly represent what they can offer, it makes me wonder about the quality of care.

I'm very particular about doctors. I looked around quite a great deal in order to find someone who was kind, and understanding, and empathic. I am a disabled single mother of 3 boys. My life is very busy with the kids, and it's very important that I stay functional. When I original started at unity I was unable to walk around properly. My quality of life was very low. Dr. Kastendieck is one of the best doctors anyone could ever ask. He tries to help you get to the root of the problem. He believes in preventive care which is incredibly important to me. I'd rather not have to deal with a problem at all than to deal with a problem after it comes up. He has helped me with so much. He has helped me deal with my sever generalized anxiety disorder, severe issues with my fibromyalgia, . I have suffered from chronic pain my entire life. It's gotten so bad that when I originally went to Unity Medical I was unable to properly walk without a wheelchair. I would have days where I could walk, but I always needed help with doing basic things in life like showering. Without Unity Medical I would not have good quality of life. I owe them everything. My debt of gratitude is great for not just Dr. Kastendieck, but the entire staff. They have help me through a lot over the past 10 years. Unity Medical has been good not just for me, but for my entire family, because of them now I can help family instead of them helping me all of the time. Worse if your sister died of Melanoma and the provider does not look between your toes, at the bottom of your feet, or other cracks and crevasses. Strike three is that I have had 9 surgeries such as Moh's for large basil cell areas. Some of them were not where sun shines often. She did see the obvious things on my bald head and burned them but her exam was from several feet away. I am used to having a dermatologist with a magnifying device that is up close and personal. I insisted upon a biopsy for an area that the provider scoffed off saying that it was just a bruise or scrape from gardening. Squamous cell carcinoma was the lab result. I would have lived with it, growing, for 6 more months until I returned for the follow up quick visit where I wonder if she would notice then? They scheduled me for a surgical removal of this squamous cell, but there is no way I am going to let someone who could not tell and did not want to biopsy start cutting on me. In case this is not clear, I do not recommend.

Dr. Grant removed a cyst on my scalp on 5/29/25 & stitches were removed, so I thought, on 6/12/25…read more I was given copies of my charges to submit to Medicare & my secondary insurance for reimbursement, as was instructed after making full payment. PLEASE be aware that Medicare will NOT approve these charges in full & consequently your secondary insurance will also not reimburse you for the total charges. It was explained to me by my insurance company that under federal law, the provider should be paying me a refund since the doctor's charges were NOT approved by Medicare after the they were submitted. I did not pursue this however, as I am fairly certain they will argue that their policy is that the patient must make full payment at the time of the service. On July 25, 2025 I was seen again with concerns over sutures left in my scalp. I was told they would eventually work themselves out. It is now a full year & 2 months after my surgery & those sutures are still a nuisance for me, and often get infected. When I complained about this recently to the receptionist by phone, she never returned with an explanation from the doctor. She asked if I wished to schedule an appointment, which knowing I would be charged for it again, I declined. I was warned by my insurance company to avoid & beware of doctors who do not accept insurance & overcharge for procedures. I will NOT be returning to Dr. Grant.
