The nurse said the office could not give me even a ballpark figure of what the service would cost. The service I called about is the removal of sun spots on the face using cold freeze therapy. Dermatology of Santa Fe's response to my inquiry was that I should wait and see what is billed to me. I explained that I can't take the chance that something I'm used to paying $100 would be billed at $500 and asked if she could check on the cost. I suggested to her, "don't you know the price you bill services at?" Her reply was, "no, I'm sorry I can't help you." In my view this is bad customer service and it suggests unfair billing procedures are being practiced here. Beware.

In a state where access to healthcare is already difficult for a practice to drop contracts with major insurance carriers and opt to only serve individuals who are able and willing to pay out of pocket is abhorrent. Santa Fe elitist practitioners know that there is a wealthy population in this town that will support these "concierge practices." So, they don't care what happens to their existing patients. I could stay, and pay the concierge prices but what service am I getting for the additional out of pocket? My last three visits I've noticed a significant decline in customer service at the reception area. The practice manager is downright rude. And, they will not submit claims as an out of network provider so I'd have the privilege of taking on their administrative work. So what concierge service would I receive for the additional out of pocket cost?

PLEASE be aware that Medicare will NOT approve these charges in full & consequently your secondary insurance will also not reimburse you for the total charges. It was explained to me by my insurance company that under federal law, the provider should be paying me a refund since the doctor's charges were NOT approved by Medicare after the they were submitted. I did not pursue this however, as I am fairly certain they will argue that their policy is that the patient must make full payment at the time of the service. On July 25, 2025 I was seen again with concerns over sutures left in my scalp. I was told they would eventually work themselves out. It is now a full year & 2 months after my surgery & those sutures are still a nuisance for me, and often get infected. When I complained about this recently to the receptionist by phone, she never returned with an explanation from the doctor. She asked if I wished to schedule an appointment, which knowing I would be charged for it again, I declined. I was warned by my insurance company to avoid & beware of doctors who do not accept insurance & overcharge for procedures. I will NOT be returning to Dr. Grant.

There is little concrete information on treating my condition, yet Dr. Auerbach tirelessly worked on finding a solution for the boils and sores which originally and continually covered my face, neck and upper chest. His medical care and diligent approach has diminished my issue completely as long as I regularly use the topical medication he prescribes. He is always professional and treats me as an equal adult in spite of my regular long COVID brain fog that often makes me appear to be a complete idiot. I thought with Botox you were supposed to start out low and then come back for touch ups. But no that damned lady wanted all my money. I did go back and the good dude doctor helped me and was very sweet he gave me a unit to help my eyebrow. I will get Botox again not ever from here.
