I am itching to go back already, it is well-worth the price ($18 for both my child and I). There is a lot of outdoor activities, so I would go on a nice day, but there's plenty to do inside as well if you need a rainy-day activity. So many fun activities for children, from a racing car track to a large outdoor xylophone, a "tree house" and fun little pretend areas, such as a hospital (the nursery, of course) pizza parlor, a market stand with fake food. Outside has a lot of fun things for Littles to climb on and explore. We will definitely be back!

It is not in the nicest of neighborhoods, which would explain why the door is locked and you have to ring a bell to be let in, even during business hours. Inside, there is a gift shop area where you can purchase a variety of miniature items. Many of them are vintage, although I recognized lots of them as pieces I've previously purchased on Amazon too. The word "vintage" is probably the most appropriate here. The whole place has a smell like an antique store and most of the houses look to have been built in the 1970's-1990's. There are many intricate houses and dioramas, so many things to look at! My personal style is more modern rather than grandma-chic, but I definitely appreciate the love and attention that went into building each of these pieces. Most of them are donated from family members when the artist leaves an estate behind. It was a really fun visit and I'm glad to have checked out the museum.

If there wasn't a disclaimer, the Sheldon should add this to future events. It should be a check box you must complete acknowledging you must walk up several flights of stairs. I saw people with canes walking up stairs. This is not safe. Once upstairs in the balcony, the steps leading to each row are very steep and the step to the lowest row is a huge drop without any warning. I understand we don't want to destroy the character of this beautiful building but something must be done to warn people. Suggestions: 1. Warn people in advance 2. Fix the step to the bottom row of the balcony so it's not a huge drop Or, stop using this building for events, especially the balcony.

It seemed tricky and almost scary to meld the new with the classic historic symphony hall. It really was beautifully done. The event was catered by Russos and the food and bar service was great. Very well done space with wheelchair accessibility or stroller accessibility. The outdoor patio area had chess tables. Furthermore, it had the largest sculpture of a chess piece right in front. I'm so glad she told me about it. it is a compact - not small - museum that uses its space exceptionally well. I was greeted warmly at the entrance and advised on how to approach the space. The first floor was a colorful exhibit by an artist named Houska, who designed a chess set. He also provided art for the museum. The second floor was perhaps my favorite, chess in literature. Beautifully designed chess sets reflecting stories, such as Alice in Wonderland and the Ramayana. I will say, as a scholar of Islamic Studies, I was hoping for more Muslim literature, but they did have a small display for Omar Khayyam's Rubaiyat. There were also beautiful paintings for book Chessmen of Mars, part of the John Carter series. The third floor was the hall of fame. If you're into chess history, this is your place. In addition to individuals, they had a variety of chess sets and variations, including three person chess, chess in the round, and of course Star Wars chess and 3D chess from Star Trek. They also had variations of chess from around the world (Iran and China) and time (Mongolian). A wonderful and dense presentation. Absolute heaven. And don't forget, they have the largest chess piece in the world right out front.

It's been a while since I have watched a show at the Muny. On this visit it was the classic…read moremusical, "South Pacific." The Muny is an outdoor theater in beautiful Forest Park. Parking can be a little crazy, but we were able to park in the lower and free parking lot. If you are disabled, you may want to get there extremely early or have someone drop you off. Even the closest disabled parking spot, it's still going to be a bit of a walk. There are lots of ramps and special disabled seating, if needed. Otherwise expect steps without a railing. The staff is very accommodating. There's really not a bad seat in the house, even the free seats are fairly good. The seats are quite close together so if you are a larger person, it's a tight fit if you have people on either side. The performance was incredibly professional and very good. The sound system and lighting were just right. I believe most shows start at 8 PM and have an intermission. When the shows are rather full, expect quite a wait to depart the area. It's definitely a must do in the Summer.

When I first got there I thought the vibe was going to a basic theater setup based on the older appearance on the outside of the building, but man was I blown away when I stepped foot in there! The marble and gold layout throughout the theater was placed perfectly in each designated spot. The layout of the theater was comfortable for me, but there may be difficulties for those with specific needs. Most of the seating is auditorium style seating, but there are about four booth box seating on each floor for wheelchair accessible options or those who are a bigger size. The rows were intentionally built to provide visibility from any row, and I was all the way in the Mezzanine row and I could see perfectly fine. They offer events and showings that would interest different types of people from popular musical events to comedy shows and ballets. The downside to the theater are the concession stands, all of the food and drinks were overly priced and offered limited items. Also, in my opinion, the theater needs better lighting in the isle rows and the entrances to prevent incidents. The entrances to the theater have uneven angles and I briefly lost my footing since I didn't see where the angle changed. Overall I had a great experience at the showing and saw some shows I'd love to go in the coming future.
