Here's a version that feels more direct, more personal, and less polished-for-brochure:…read more I stay in a lot of luxury hotels around the world. Asia, the Middle East, Europe, the US. Enough that I think I have a pretty good barometer for what is genuinely five-star and what is just marketed that way. Victoria Jungfrau in Interlaken is the real thing. What stood out wasn't one flashy moment. It was the consistency and attention to detail from every single member of staff I interacted with. That kind of alignment doesn't happen by accident. It reflects culture and leadership. There's something here that feels like old-school European excellence in hospitality. Service that is confident, calm, precise, and not overly theatrical. It feels intentional. Lara at reception was excellent. Professional, efficient, and warm without being overdone. Check-in was smooth and polished, but never stiff. Chantal at concierge was exceptional. She noticed me every time I walked into the hotel. Not occasionally. Every time. She remembered what she had arranged, followed up naturally, and clearly paid attention. That level of detail is rare, even at top-tier properties. It made a difference. I genuinely felt that she wanted my experience in Interlaken to be great, not just adequate. In a world where many luxury hotels rely on branding and design to carry the experience, Victoria Jungfrau delivers through people. That's harder to manufacture. And it shows.

Singers at a nearby restaurant serenaded every night for dinner. Horses and buggies were taking riders around the area. Online reservations through Expedia and check-in were easy. The lobby is beautiful with a bar, lounging area, and even shopping. It feels like a casino. There are three elevators; I only had to wait once because of a large group that just arrived. I was in a single room with a nice bathroom (shower) and balcony. I would have liked fluffier pillows and one more towel plus washcloths for showering. I also made reservations to eat at their awesome restaurant (Top of the Met) with panoramic views and gourmet food. I wish I could get the recipe for their sauce that came with the roasted chicken. I could drink cups of it. Unfortunately I wasn't able to try out their sauna or fitness center. Next time!!

From the moment we sat down, he was incredibly warm, attentive, and perfectly accommodating in every possible way. What truly set him apart was how much he genuinely cared about making our experience special. He helped us plan parts of our trip, gave thoughtful recommendations, and made us feel completely taken care of throughout our stay. One moment we will never forget was when he arranged for the pianist to play a special song for us. It was such a thoughtful gesture that it honestly brought tears to our eyes. Experiences like that are rare, and Moritz created a memory we will carry with us forever. Victoria-Jungfrau is lucky to have someone like him representing the hotel. Thank you, Moritz, for your kindness, professionalism, and unforgettable hospitality.

It started out on a bad note: his first interaction was AGGRESSIVELY pushing glasses of champagne (from the champagne house of the owner-he wouldn't take no for an answer! Until we insisted. We ordered a bottle of Chablis and his unfamiliarity with the massive wine list (not surprising given his one-month tenure) caused him to spend around 5 minutes lurking over my shoulder copying down the description-clearly in need of more training. We were traveling with friends so we like to get several things and share them around the table. He belittled our choice to share the popcorn shrimp to start (falsely) indicating that it was a tiny cup. The slightly spicy shrimp (around 10 pieces) was just what we wanted. We also ordered a large salad and three mains explaining we wished to course things out-first the shrimp, then the salad, then the mains-fairly rudimentary ask especially at this caliber of restaurant. The two glasses of champagne we ordered came right away but were very skimp pours. The shrimp also came soon. The wine took 20 minutes more! Then another 30 minutes elapsed and we insisted he go find and bring the salad-which he did-followed quickly by the mains. As for the food-large salad with grilled peaches was nice as was the "Swiss (perch) and chips". The grilled perch and ravioli were fine but not outstanding. Bottom line I had high hopes for this place given the reputation of the hotel-very very disappointing-easily one of the worst serving experiences in our years of global travel.

The room was spacious and had a small balcony and was VERY quiet. Even though the train tracks pass just outside there really wasn't any noise to disturb sleep. Beds are comfortable and there was fantastic AC (I like it cool at night). While breakfast is included it wasn't anything special and they are overly focused on food waste (I think) as the plated on the buffet have only 4-6 servings of an item so if you arrive at the wrong time, like we did the first morning, there is very little food left. While they do refresh things, the single attendant is also taking orders for coffee as well as checking room numbers. Given that so many people are off early to hike- this system isn't the best. Despite this inconvenience I'd definitely stay here again in a remodeled room. The staff were friendly and super helpful. And HUGE plus is the location, just a 4 min straight shot walk to Interlaken WEST station which connects you in 5 minutes to the transit hub of OST.

Yelp Review 2026 #112:…read more A short walk from Interlaken Ost making Carlton Europe Adults Hotel a convenient location. No kids allowed was beautiful. There are plenty of shops and restaurants in this area. This hotel has a popular and always crowded burger restaurant - be sure to allow enough time for a long wait or just order to-go. Check-in took about 10-15 minutes as they are very thorough with the information they give you and plus, we had sent our luggage here ahead of time so they had to fetch our luggage from their luggage storage. They also gave us a refreshing welcome drink: cold herbal tea. Think Ricola but in iced tea form. The place has character - you'll see old typewriters as decors, the room keys are heavy and old school . It's also a pet-friendly hotel. There are rules: keep the wooden floors dry, be sure to dry the bathroom floor so it doesn't flood into the wooden floor. We got a room on the top floor with lots of windows. It's super spacious. We enjoyed the cool breeze of natural air by opening the windows. The bathroom has the usual stuff plus a weighing scale so I can see how much weight I gained from eating all the chocolates and cheese everyday, You can leave the heavy room key in the numbered shelf in front of the front desk if you're leaving the hotel to explore.

I don't recall seeing elevators so I don't know if they have them. The hotel is about a 3 minute walk from the east train station, which was incredibly convenient because we got in late the night we arrived. Staff was friendly but there was a mix up about breakfast. We didn't reserve our room with breakfast included but a woman in the dining area said it was automatically included. Turns out we had to pay extra upon check out so that staff member gave our wrong info. It wasn't a huge deal but it's worth noting. This hotel checked all of our boxes for our short stay in Interlaken.

If you're planning a stay in Interlaken on a budget but still want comfort and friendly vibes,…read moreBackpackers Villa Sonnenhof is a good hostel to use as a base. The rooms and facilities are well-maintained overall. The staff are super friendly. My sister became good friends with the guy who cleans up the kitchen area at night. It's an excellent value for money. Breakfast and bus passes are included, although we didn't use the bus passes much since we have the Swiss travel pass. The bus stops right in front of the hostel, and very convenient. They mark any food in the fridge & pantry left over by guests who already checked out with a free sticker so that current and new arrivals can have them if they wish. A pretty good deal, minimizing waste, and helping out current guests. Having fully equipped kitchen was great. The only downside is if you have roommates who are not neat and/or respectful. Our shower was flooded the first day we arrived by one roommate who was checking out that day. But you can't really choose roommates if you're staying in a fully booked hostel.

I think this is a great choice if you're looking for a budget accommodation and don't mind the hostel environment. Having 4 people so you can book out a whole room though was definitely helpful for us since you never know who you'll get, and we didn't want to deal with that coin toss. PROS - Extremely friendly and helpful staff. We had a very large group checking in, split across multiple rooms, and with people checking out at different times. But the staff was more than happy to assist us! - Plenty of lockers to store your belongings. We were able to do so while waiting for our check-in since we arrived a few hours earlier than our check-in time. - Lockers available inside each room too for you to lock your things up if you're sharing a room with strangers - Lots of common area space including ping pong tables, kitchen and dining area, laundry, breakfast area (with complimentary breakfast), patios, and a kids room. - Comfortable beds with an outlet and shelf even for the top bunk - Close to a bus stop and within walking distance of the train station CONS - Only 4 washers and dryers so you may have to wait like we did when trying to do laundry late at night. Quite a few people weren't the best about taking their clothes out on time either. - Shower situation wasn't the best. There was a flimsy shower curtain, but as soon as you turned the shower on, it would blow inwards and stick to you the entire time. Because of this it didn't do a great job keeping water in either so the floor would get pretty wet. - We came in July and the room was very warm even at night. We did try keeping our window open but since there was no screen, we were worried about bugs and only kept it open a crack. Overall, could use some minor improvements but I think that's the hostel experience. Great for travelers on a budget!
